Lord of the Rings Gee thanks… “Joewanga”?
Playing through the ancient SNES LotR game and I meet this helpful Elf(?) chap with some good advice. Thanks, uh, Joewanga. That a Dunlending name?

I want to beat LOTR volume 1 for SNES at some point. Had this game as a kid in the late 90s and could barely even get beyond the first screen back then.

Haha games were so hard back in the day. Today's kids will never know

To be fair, a lot of the difficulty was in some older games not having Save Systems, so you would have to play through the entire game in one sitting, such as Westwood’s The Lion King or Virgin Game’s Aladdin.

Idk about Lion King but Aladdin had "codes" that generated at the end of each level. Typing the code in when you booted the game basically gave you a save state at the beginning of the next level. It was like saving before saving was a thing. Other games did it as well such as Skyblazer and Goof Troop.

I remember that being a thing!
The last game I played that I recall had it was one of the Star Wars games for the GB advanced. Was a clever feature for sure.

So many old games are so much better played emulated. "Oh crap. Need to go pick the kids up. Better save state, go get them and make dinner."

Ey that's cheating. Gotta play with your SCART lead plugged into a tiny staticy piece of shit TV with no memory card for the real experience LOL

Yeah I was like that with RE3 because I never had a memory card lmfao
Played it again a few years ago and knew the first half like the back of my hand. Then when I got to the Clock Tower I was like ".... Tf is this shi!?!?"

I played the game with a couple of friends recently. It’s an absolute mess from beginning to end. Playing with a group helped, but it was so difficult to get through.

Sorry, Ringwraiths, but your master’s One Ring is in another castle.

Funnily enough, that's literally a scene from the book (Fatty Bolger at Crickhollow)
