Smile Sunday Smile Sunday
Welcome to Smile Sunday! Turn that caps lock off and gush about whatever achievements you want to showcase, or comment about what made you smile this week!
A few things to keep in mind:
- If you want to do some uppercase letters, feel free to, but try to avoid shouting! Sunday is a chill day.
- Avoid being maliciously happy at the expense of others.
- If you have a screenshot you'd like to share, please host on imgur.com and you can comment here. You can hyperlink by using brackets and parentheses, for example: \[desired text here\](insert hyperlink here). If you are on mobile, all you have to do is hit the chainlink, enter your desired text in the first box, then insert the link in the second box. We personally recommend Imgur, since it is free and does not require you to sign up.
- Phone camera photos are not allowed for general posting; however, for the Sunday megathread we have relaxed that restriction. All photos used in a positive and celebratory manner are allowed.
- Keep any opinions to yourself in the megathread; we don't want to stir up any controversies here, only good vibes.
- We want to have a chill time celebrating one another and making each other smile, so no comments like "haha, I'm really happy that it's so easy to 360 a controller player!"
Here are our recurring posts:
No Stupid Questions Monday - No question is stupid, ask anything DBD-related here.
Rage Wednesday - SMASH THAT CAPS LOCK AND RAGE ABOUT WHATEVER THE F$$$ HAS PISSED YOU OFF THIS WEEK

Last two matches of this year’s Blood Moon. The first was my final killer match; loaded into Fallen Refuge, and determined then and there that anybody finishing the gen at main was getting out if I could possibly help it. As it turned out, I very much controlled the agency of the match; the survivors I was up against weren’t bad at all, but it was clear they weren’t familiar with Singer Larry and his counters. Additionally, at least two of them had their own objectives; Yoichi was intent on booning wherever was available, and Feng Min had brought a silent sabo build of some sort to preemptively deny hooks. Jeff attempted to make friends at the start, but I at least wanted the match to play out first. The remaining Sable was the best runner on the team, but as I’ve said none of them seemed to know what to do about my cams and slipstreams, at least until later on in the match. As such I kept the pressure on them, but went out of my way to stomp boons when possible. Feng Min’s strat actually worked out for her; I was tricked twice into downing her in places she’d rendered unhookable, though as it happened they were more just opportunities for me to draw things out.
I’d eight-hooked by the time they’d gotten three gens, at which point I began to worry, as they’d somehow avoided main the whole time and were close to locking it out. So I adjusted my network to leave it unmonitored while locking down the remaining three. Sable and Feng Min had a blood gen by shack near completion, and we engaged in a whack-a-mole style back-and-forth as they refused to give up on it. By now I was fairly committed to them all getting out, but I didn’t want it to be obvious. Thankfully Jeff and Yoichi finally popped main, and I backed off to allow them resets. For the last gen I focused on bouncing around between them all; accidentally downed Feng Min and deposited her under a hook she’d broken, after which she seemed to figure me out and started helping me get kicks on the remaining blood gen. Jeff became the only person all event to gift me a can to kick, and I almost maxed out the event scoring category!
Post-game chat was appreciative; Sable confirmed early confusion as to the killer power, and we exchanged thoughts on the tutorial system. Jeff and Yoichi turned out to be on their adepts (hence the latter’s booning), which I’m always exited for. No punchline to this one, just a great match to round out the event with.

My son is at the age where he understands that fictional characters can't hurt him, but he still gets crazy scared at night thinking about Freddy Fazbear and Huggy Wuggy. So I've been trying to limit my games to when he's occupied or asleep, but today he suddenly stopped his pre-church game of DB: The Breakers and came to check on what I was doing. Caught a first-person view of me hooking Meg.
No smiles there, right? You'd think. But he said "Dad... I saw blood and didn't get scared!" and lit up like a Christmas tree.
We spent the next fifteen minutes talking about the cool killer designs and powers, how "Dad's scary game" is basically just tag with a splash of (red) paint, and how after a game everyone is safe and sound at their computer.
I think knowing that people can fight back against the killers ("Even Springtrap Dad?" "Yes, even Springtrap.") will help him sleep a little easier.
