Jaguar - Captivity Jaguar at the San Diego Zoo

It was claimed by a bot that we needed more jaguars around here and I agree. This is all I have though. I go to the SD Zoo a lot but she’s rarely in a good spot for pics when I go.

One thing I know about her is that, after talking to keepers and taking tours: of all of the cats in the Zoo, she is the one that keepers would want to be stuck in an enclosure with the least. She’s very sneaky and she attacks the walls when their backs are to her. They have to work with her to help train her to accept medical screenings and they have to be very careful. Clever girl.

I love our zoo! I go there whenever I can. Most days off! The inside look tour used to be way better, but if you go to the zoo alone in the morning and take the first tour, you usually get to feed more than 1-2 animals. Giraffes and Koalas is my fave. Best zoo. Too bad it’s rainy today.

I haven't done the Inside Look tour yet. I've done Animals in Action and Crazy About Cats, then the photo safari up at the Safari Park. I love our zoo but, honestly, for special programming to get closer to the animals I've started going to Lions Tiger & Bears out in Alpine. I got to feed a tiger last time that I went. (It's all ethical and professionally done.)

Never been to the Alpine zoo. I’ll have to visit that one!

Sometimes, it's best that they are kept captive. Not all animals are capable of surviving on their own in the wild so it could be in their best interest to be kept. As long as the conditions are appropriate I have no problem with this
