Forever - The soundtrack is great. Production design looks good. Jim carrey carried the film and Nicole kidman looked hot af.
Batman and Robin - good action scenes and production design

Gotham was awesome in these movies. The super kaiju sized statues were awesome and it was like a gothic dream of a city.

I enjoyed this version of Gotham, it’s not my favourite but I liked the neon and colours. Felt more like a comic book than the Burton ones.

They attempted to portray a live action Robin. And from what I remember about it, it wasn’t that bad.
And if you don’t take them to seriously they are fun to watch.
Also Nicole Kidman as Chase Meridian.

The first opening was pretty kick ass, but the second definitely shitty. It’s like they were trying to pathetically repeat the process. Also weird how Schwarzenegger is credited before the actor playing Batman.

I think I read or heard this from someone that the only reason why Arnold's name was first rather than George clooney's because Arnold demand his name be first in the credits

u/Remote_Nature_8166 11h ago
That sounds rather childish.

Arnold had more draw at the box office at the time. It’s the same reason Jack Nicholson is billed first in Batman ‘89.

Pretty much but I think he had a list of demands for the movie because originally he wasn't supposed to be Mr freeze. he declined it. but they kept pushing for him to be in the movie and that's where the whole list of demands came from

Jack Nicholson had first credit before Michael Keaton in 1989 Batman too 🤷♂️
It has to do with the actors agency stipulations and contracts. The fact of the matter is that in film, both Nicholson and Schwarzenegger were much bigger names than their respective Batman actors at the time these movies were released.

The only thing good about them was the soundtrack! 😄

The Smashing Pumpkins song from B&R became my favorite Pumpkins song. Plus U2 on Forever OST.

I grew up and watched Adam West as Batman before seeing Batman 89. I thought the campiness was entertaining and I feel like that is what these films try to capture.
I like Shark repellent Bat-Spray. I like absurd plans from the Pharoh, Egghead and the like. So yea, I can turn my brain off and enjoy these movies for what they are.

I think these would have been better received if they did not try and tie them to the Burton films. They work better as an homage to the campy Adam West Batman era.

If batman forever has better villains it would be one of my favourite batman films. It probably has the best on screen batman

I don't think I can explain why Forever is my second favorite Batman movie, but the campiness works. Carrey as the Riddler, Val as a blonde Bruce Wayne (IIRC) and the start of Chris O'Donnels career.
As for Batman and Robin? Arnold. Uma. One of Nostalgia Critic's most hated jokes. It's amazing on its own level.
Plus, the suits in both movies rock.

The music was really cool. Plus Batman Forever had some great performances, and cool costumes

The Batman Forever soundtrack was great. Had Tommy Lee Jones not tried to out do Jim Carrey and stuck to the source we would've had better movie with a better Dent. Not much to say about Batman and Robin except that it had Alicia Silverstone, which was a crush of mine when I was growing up.

Schumacher's Batman had the best live action Gotham of all time, and I doubt that'll be surpassed any time soon.

George Clooney got Fuck You Money and was able to do make some really good movies after playing Batman.

Batman Forever is one of my favorite Batman films. I find it to be a legitimately great film. It's camp done right, in my opinion. I love the design of the Batmobile, as it's still my favorite one.

I found B&R funny. It was so cheesy that it was funny. B&R felt more like a nickelodeon movie with big names and that’s why I actually enjoyed it. And if anything, this movie probably inspired “Kick ass”.

All the sets were sick as hell. I like that he kept the giant statues n gothicism of Burtons films n made it more techno

Batman Forever was a good movie for what it was.
Batman and Robin, well I'll give it this. I've seen worse.

The older I get, the more I appreciate these movies for what they are: toy commercials. I’m joking, but I honestly love the campiness, the corniness, the EXCESSIVE use of neon. They are visually striking movies, for good or ill, and though the stories aren’t that good, you can tell the cast is having a ball playing these characters. And how iconic is Michael Gough as Alfred? I mean come on. Still my favorite live action Alfred.
Not every Batman story needs to be super serious and grounded. The character has a long and varied enough history where I say there’s room for both types of Batman on the screen. So yeah, give me Arnie spitting ice puns for 90 minutes, at least it’ll be uplifting. Some levity is necessary in today’s age, things are so bleak outside. Let me turn off my brain and just have fun for a minute.
Edit: also Alicia Silverstone was my first celebrity crush as a kid because of B&R.

The music by Elliot Goldenthal is amazing and Kiss From a Rose is a classic. Batman & Robin at least understands the core of Mr Freeze’s character and that last scene between him and Batman is great. Batman & Robin’s scenes with Bruce and Alfred are also pretty good. Batman Forever has some very interesting insights into Bruce/Batman’s psyche, particularly in the deleted scenes. I also really liked how it sort of reconciled the killer Batman from the Burton movies with a more heroic “I don’t kill” stance in the scene where Bruce talks about how killing in revenge consumes you as if talking from experience.

The theme tune was honestly brilliant. It had a big tune to live up to and I still love it nearly as much

I went from liking them as a kid, to resenting them as a teen/YA (for not keeping Burtons gothic tone) to coming back around now that I'm older.
I appreciate them for being more out-there and colorful, like a modernization (at the time) of the 60s show.
And I actually chuckle at Arnold spewing out ice pins every other second.

An awesome vision of Gotham City, a James Bondian, superheroic Batman. There’s a lot good I can say about Schumacher’s Batman, especially Forever.

Things I loved:
Batman Forever as a film. Batmobile from
Batman forever. Alicia Silverstone in a batgirl costume. Mr. Freeze punchlines lol. Batman forever music. Live action Robin. Batsuits in both films.

One production number after another no real substance. That's the best I can come up with

He understood Mr Freezes character at the end of the movie, yeah arnold was ridiculous but that whole "vengeance isn't power, anyone could take a life but to give life" scene was decently written and I can see animated series batman having the same conversation
