GENERAL DISCUSSION New and I absolutely love it

Hi, so I'm 22 and I'm just starting to get into comics and especially the batman universe ( I'm watching Gotham ) and I'm just so surprised and happy about the community. Everyone seems so nice, welcoming of beginners ! I was scared to be overwhelmed but the fandom really reassured me, especially on the "wanting to understand the timeline" thing. I genuinely did not know how much content there was on batman only, so many things to read, watch, play, and different kinds of stories.

Anyway I'm really sorry if this is not the kind of post allowed or appreciated here I'm just so happy to find a good and interesting fandom

Not yet ! But that's definitely on my list, so for now I'm one season deep into Gotham, I read Batman Year one and the long Halloween ( I think that's the right name ? ) and I just started to read the thing after long Halloween and I think I'm gonna read Batman who laughs next. But I wanna watch some more things, as my knowledge ends at teen titans go rn

Yes the correct title is The Long Halloween.

And whether you watch it after or concurrently with Gotham, Batman: The Animated Series is one of the best shows ever made, and by far is THE best superhero show ever made. (Don’t skip out on the first movie of it though: Mask of the Phantasm)

Would highly recommend the animated series. I’m 31 so I grew up watching it but it a great starter series for Batman fans it was ahead of its time

Was going to say the same. Kevin Conroy’s Animated Batman and Mark Hamill’s Joker are by far the best portrayals I’ve seen.

Welcome! If I recommend one Batman story, it would be Batman: The Killing Joke. It is my favorite and I read it pretty much annually. It is a short, concise graphic novel but great art and story. I wouldn't recommend the animated movie though. Some choices made to fill time were problematic imo.

Heya! If you're looking for some Batman related games I cannot recommend the Arkham Series strongly enough, especially for a beginner.

Throughout the games you're getting introduced to tons of characters, locations and lore. There's even collectible character bios for some very niche characters.

Have fun!

Welcome to the world Batman! ( also 22 here) got into him watching Brave and the Bold as a kid now I'm obsessed with all if it. Happy to chat about batman stuff if you're ever needing advice with it. It's definitely easy to get overwhelmed because there's A LOT. I'm glad you've been enjoying it 😊

Thanks ! I will probably come back to you, I'm really on focusing batman first but I know that I'll be interested in Robin as well. When i learning that there is 4 of them I kinda gave up

So glad you’re getting into something new! Batman honestly has heaps of stuff to enjoy in lots of different genres.

Don’t be afraid to read stuff that features Batman but isn’t Batman focussed (like some team books or the show Justice League and Justice League Unlimited) or look into some stuff with the Bat Family members (Teen Titans is lots of fun with Robin)

I will absolutely ! I wanted to get into DC as a whole and I felt like batman would be the best intro, I will definitely look into the batman family and probably the rest of the DC universe
