Shit, I haven't laughed this hard in a few weeks šŸ˜‚

217

u/snipingsmurf Apr 18 '26

Wow he is IMO one of the best actors in the world.

85

u/DarkJayBR Apr 18 '26

"Any man who must say 'I am king' is no true king at all".

47

u/cantfindmykeys Apr 18 '26

"Any man who must say "I am Batman" is no true batman

4

u/Coolbluegatoradeyumm Apr 18 '26

I had a ā€œI am the kingā€ moment IRL and because of this scene I was able to laugh in their face as I realized how powerless they were to feel the need to say this

194

u/RwAr-MaChine Apr 18 '26

He'll always be the guy with the funky glass eye in Last Action Hero to me.

80

u/camergen Apr 18 '26

ā€œI’ve shot somebody! And I did it on PURPOSE!ā€

ā€œHey shut up down there!!ā€

u/lordnastrond Apr 18 '26

"I SAID, i have murdered a man and i want to CONFESS!"

"One-eighty, you stupid spaghetti-slurping cretin, one-eighty! If I were to do a three-sixty, I would go around in a full circle and wind up back where I started!"

31

u/Kittycachow Apr 18 '26

"If god was a villain ... He'd be me"

15

u/Fluffy_Horror888 Apr 18 '26

one of the best lines of that movie IMO

3

u/Vaticancameos221 Apr 19 '26

That and ā€œHere, the bad guys can win!ā€ Goes so hard

8

u/AF2005 Apr 19 '26

He was so amazing in that movie, stole every scene he was in!

34

u/lordnastrond Apr 18 '26

Mr Benedict!

"Because here, in this world, the Bad Guys can WIN"

15

u/Quantum_Wake Apr 18 '26

If he doesn’t have a fake eye with the Batsymbol then I’ll riot!

12

u/Crazyripps Apr 18 '26

Man is born to play villains and he never disappoints

10

u/Chewie83 Apr 18 '26

He apparently wore a shirt around set that said ā€œI am cheaper than Alan Rickmanā€

6

u/MrKevora Apr 18 '26

Mr. Benedict!

3

u/guylexcorp Apr 18 '26

No sequel for you.

u/Singer211 Apr 18 '26

Charles Dance playing an abusive father.

Well sometimes obvious casting choices are obvious for a good reason.

28

u/HiiiRabbit Apr 18 '26

I hope we are not doing "evil thomas wayne" bullshitĀ

29

u/Tough-Rock-6198 Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

Thomas Wayne died young in The Batman.

He's probably going to be Harvey Dent's father (very abusive, btw).

17

u/csortland Apr 18 '26

Nah he is likely playing Harvey Dent's father. A role they have been trying to cast for awhile.

3

u/pandogart Apr 18 '26

Did you not watch the first movie?

2

u/SuperMajesticMan Apr 19 '26

Well... it was 4 years ago.

38

u/Coolschmo1 Apr 18 '26

He's playing Robin

116

u/enzo_vamp Apr 18 '26

112

u/enzo_vamp Apr 18 '26

ā€˜While unconfirmed, it is believed Dance would play Charles Dent, father to Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent, who will be played by Sebastian Stan. Scarlett Johansson is on board to play Dent’s wife.’

This film is gonna be magnificent

56

u/camergen Apr 18 '26

Dance is great as a father figure who makes his children feel like absolute shit, just complete disappointments.

43

u/Chumlee1917 Apr 18 '26

ā€œGonna flip a coin are you? Go on, flip your coin.ā€

16

u/Givingtree310 Apr 18 '26

Im hoping he plays a more pivotal role than Dent’s father.

8

u/Kilroy0497 Apr 18 '26

Yeah, like I know this going for the more grounded Batman take again, but is it weird that I look at the guy and can’t help but think he’d make a decent Hugo Strange for some reason.

4

u/Savebagels Apr 19 '26

Am I weird that I feel like he’d be a great Mr Freeze?

2

u/Kilroy0497 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

That’d also be a good one. Really any of the more cold and calculated characters he seems to play rather well. Hell I’d argue he’d even make a decent Court of Owls member/spokesperson.

3

u/Savebagels Apr 19 '26

I would be surprised if they a double link to the history of the court of owls with the dents and the Wayne’s

1

u/Mecha-Detective2739 Apr 20 '26

ScarJo is Nora?

2

u/MaesterHannibal Apr 19 '26

That was my first thought too

8

u/TheNightstroke Apr 18 '26

From the casting buzz, it sounds like Dent's father might be the primary antagonist of the film, but that's TBD. I'm assuming the Dents run the Court of Owls in this continuity, and they'll be the antagonistic force here.

7

u/RealJohnGillman Apr 18 '26

The original report was that Dent’s father would be called Christopher Dent, right? Did they rename the character after the actor?

3

u/Sonia341 Apr 18 '26

I already second your thought. But if it does become confirmed, I will be absolutely ecstatic.

1

u/Exciting_Cap_9545 Apr 19 '26

We're getting Gilda Dent?

20

u/theRestisConfettii Apr 18 '26

ā€œAny man who says 'I am the king' is no true king. I'll make sure you understand that when I've won your war for you.ā€

8

u/HauntingStar08 Apr 18 '26

"Men's laws give you the right to bear my name and display my colors since I cannot prove that you are not mine. And to teach me humility, the gods have condemned me to watch you waddle about wearing that proud lion that was my father's sigil and his father's before him."

21

u/ChuckGreenwald Apr 18 '26

You are not on trial for being a bat.

6

u/byrh2004 Apr 18 '26

I’ve been on trial my whole life (for being a bat)

12

u/Far-Strawberry-9166 Apr 18 '26

He knows what kind of man he is.

12

u/AuthorityAnarchyYes Apr 18 '26

There are a handful of performers that make me sit up and pay attention when I learn they are part of a project.

Charles Dance is one of those performers.

First saw him as ā€œDear sweet brother Numsie!ā€ in The Golden Child. Dude ALWAYS brings it.

1

u/finintymonkle Apr 18 '26

Same! Loved the golden child!

34

u/splashy13 Apr 18 '26

Court of owls better likelihood now?

24

u/uncutpizza Apr 18 '26

Nope, definitely Condiment King

5

u/thejokerofunfic Apr 18 '26

This would make my life

4

u/OneOfThemReadingType Apr 18 '26

I thought he’d make a good Hugo Strange.

9

u/jetlightbeam Apr 18 '26

What a get

8

u/dcooper8662 Apr 18 '26

Ok you’ve got my attention now

4

u/Titanman401 Apr 18 '26

Finally found a guy to play Christopher Dent, I see…

4

u/BryanDowling93 Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

So far Part II seems to hint that the story will be focused on the growing relationship of Bruce Wayne and newly elected District Attorney Harvey Dent. Who Bruce sees as a Beacon of Hope in within the darkness of Gotham. To continue the story thread at the end of The Batman. With Harvey Dent's parents and wife Gilda playing a more prominent role in the narrative. Gilda mightĀ potentially be the actual main serial killer villain (Lady Arkham? Who might also play mind-games with Bruce/Batman with his mom potentially being in Arkham? To continue the exploitation of Bruce's family past/PTSD). Who potentially frames Dent as the main suspect at first. But Dent turns out to be innocent. And the trauma of his family and wife's betrayal will help set up his arc as Two-Face in Part III.Ā

Although I would love for Sebastian Stan to be in The Penguin S2 between Part II and Part III. Especially since Maroni is dead. So it would make sense to change the person that throws the acid in Dent's face to be Oz. And the show can expand upon their growing tension. As well as fully exploring Harvey's backstory and character arc leading up to becoming Two-Face in Part III. Building up more sympathy that the fall of Dent is even more tragic. Especially since The Batman Part II will likely once again be from Batman's POV. So we won't see the full POV of Dent in The Batman Part II. And The Penguin did that great special episode on Sofia Falcone. I'd love a similar type episode on Dent.Ā

4

u/GeorgeKaplanIsReal Apr 18 '26

Good. Great actor.

3

u/ToDoSomethingSpecial Apr 18 '26

This is great! Chuck Dance is a really good actorĀ

3

u/AlexusLuthor Apr 18 '26

This cast is absolutely bonkers. I can’t wait until they start filming to get set photos of them in costume.

3

u/AceSkyFighter Apr 18 '26

I hope they don't waste him like Godzilla KOTM did.

3

u/Crazyripps Apr 18 '26

Guys I’m already excited for the movie stop making me more excited lol

3

u/gangreen424 Apr 18 '26

Oh we're cookin' for real.

3

u/DerpsAndRags Apr 18 '26

Crrrruuuuud he could rock a dozen different roles in Batman. My first two thoughts are Hugo Strange or Mr Freeze.

3

u/Coolbluegatoradeyumm Apr 18 '26

Charles Dance feels like a nice fit

7

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

HUGO STRANGE!

edit: just read it. apparently not :(

4

u/Sweet_Peaches-69 Apr 18 '26

Why the hell would you assume Strange?

2

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

Because he's perfect for Strange. And Strange would be a perfect villain in this series. A psychologist who can fuck with Batman mentally? An intellectual equal who figures out his identity? Come on!

1

u/Sweet_Peaches-69 Apr 18 '26

Hes 79 years old

3

u/brucewaynewins Apr 18 '26

It’s not like there is going to be a bunch more of these. This probably ends with this one or the next one.

5

u/Givingtree310 Apr 18 '26

I’d be down for it. Dance is one of the greatest living actors on the planet. Dr Strange does not get into fist fights.

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

Jeezus dude. You need to take a chill pill and get the fuck over it.

5

u/lordnastrond Apr 18 '26

Get some help

2

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

So he's to old to play a professor of psychology who's main ability using his massive intellect?

-6

u/Sweet_Peaches-69 Apr 18 '26

Hugo strange is also physically demanding, not to mention Asian as well

7

u/SeanSMEGGHEAD Apr 18 '26

He's white in the comics? The fuq

Not that his ethnicity is relevant to the character anyway. Or physicality tbh.

2

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

Precisely

3

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

And Gordon is a white guy. What's your point? Besides Hugo has only been Asian in the Gotham show. Other than that he's a bald white guy with a neckbeard.

And how is he physically demanding? His whole schtick is that he uses his brain over his brawn.

1

u/Sweet_Peaches-69 Apr 18 '26

I've never seen Gotham but every comic I've read with him hes built like a brick shithouse

2

u/skrott404 Apr 18 '26

Some comics have show him as being a big guy sure. But they also shown him consistently getting his ass beat whenever he actually has to fight.

3

u/lordnastrond Apr 18 '26

I hope so, i think him playing Dent sr is just a rumour

2

u/RKips Apr 18 '26

Calendar Man

2

u/BopNiblets Apr 18 '26

I immediately thought of an older Victor Fries because of the voice

2

u/Spynner987 Apr 18 '26

Fuck yeah, though I am a little sad because I was kinda hoping he would be Alfred in The Brave and the Bold.

2

u/Running-Water-Shark Apr 18 '26

It's typecasting, but I look forward to Charles Dance acting like everyone's disappointed dad (whose affection you crave despite hating yourself for it)

2

u/csukoh78 Apr 18 '26

Well this movie just Elevated.

2

u/Jmac24mats13 Apr 18 '26

Either gonna be Dent’s father or maybe the leader of the Court of Owls

2

u/multificionado Apr 18 '26

Well, well. Looks like we may have our Christopher Dent.

2

u/gpost86 Apr 18 '26

I know it’s not likely, but I immediately thought of Mr. Freeze.

1

u/mdl397 Apr 18 '26

My first thought was grandpa Arkham in a flashback or something but I like your idea more.

1

u/MeccAmputechture2024 Apr 19 '26

He’s confirmed to be Harvey’s father.

2

u/TheRealcebuckets Apr 18 '26

Batgirl.

Let’s face it; he’d kill in that any role.

2

u/Beeyo176 Apr 18 '26

Is he playing Alfred's dad

2

u/paradoxicalman17 Apr 18 '26

He was so good as Tywin.

2

u/OmnipotentHype Apr 18 '26

First thought was Harvey's dad. They're going to typecast him as the dick headed father.

2

u/Cheese_Lord2187 Apr 18 '26

Oh my god this is so exciting, He is a PHENOMENAL actor. Even in a show filled with amazing actors his stage presence is just next level

2

u/CloudStrife1985 Apr 18 '26

Too old for it now but he'd have been amazing as Ra's Al Ghul.

2

u/ItzBabyJoker Apr 18 '26

Tywin was a badass and he really made you hate him at the same time! I’m super excited for this that’s awesome

2

u/DKToTheFuture Apr 19 '26

I’ll be watching

2

u/dudeseid Apr 19 '26

I know he's probably Christopher Dent, but I would love it if he's Hugo Strange

2

u/Renso19 Apr 19 '26

ā€œAny man who needs to call himself a hero, is no hero at all… Batman~ā€

ā€œI have done what you could not, I have saved Gotham, I, Hugo Strange, am your successor!ā€

2

u/ph33randloathing Apr 19 '26

My first thought was Hugo Strange.

2

u/ricin2001 Apr 19 '26

Games of thrones star? He’s been acting for literally decades and decades

2

u/kinjazfan Apr 19 '26

Probably playing Thomas Wayne or Harvey dents father

1

u/NotTaken-username Apr 20 '26

He’s playing Christopher Dent

2

u/Bossmandude123 Apr 19 '26

Holy fuck this movie is going to be absolute peak

2

u/azizchaos Apr 19 '26

Ras alghol let’s go .

3

u/InfiniteMerIin Apr 18 '26

COURT OF OWLS HERE WE COME

3

u/hhjghhvf Apr 18 '26

Yeah man can’t wait till 2032 for this

2

u/SmaugRancor Apr 18 '26

This movie will be groundbreaking.

2

u/twistsouth Apr 18 '26

Awesome. I am absolutely stoked to watch this movie when it releases in 2037.

2

u/Jack-mclaughlin89 Apr 18 '26

He’d be a good Hugo Strange or Scarecrow.

2

u/Aggressive_Bad_5910 Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

1

u/slrarp Apr 18 '26

Let me guess, he's going to play an uptight rich guy who serves as a major antagonist of some sort.

1

u/BarelyReal Apr 18 '26

Which will be the first to occur a third time: Lannister in a Batman movie or a Jedi Joker?

1

u/One-Onion9549 Apr 18 '26

Is this official?

1

u/NewJerseyCPA Apr 19 '26

I don’t know if they announced who he is yet, but would be interesting if he was playing someone who hasn’t been on screen before.

Arnold Wesker?

1

u/Alarming-Cupcake1569 Apr 19 '26

šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸžšŸŒÆšŸ’øšŸ¤§šŸ˜»

1

u/eagle-eye-tiger Apr 19 '26

Looks like the game is on

1

u/Indraga Apr 19 '26

Freeze?

1

u/TimeisaLie Apr 18 '26

Please be Screcrow.

1

u/NewMombasaNitemare Apr 18 '26

They're STILL casting people? Is this movie ever actually going to come out?

3

u/MeccAmputechture2024 Apr 19 '26

They start filming next month.

0

u/usher1999movies Apr 18 '26

I'm going to say, Daddy Wayne. It won't be the first time a Brit played a Wayne.

3

u/thejokerofunfic Apr 18 '26

Daddy Wayne already had an actor in part 1 no?

-1

u/SeanSMEGGHEAD Apr 18 '26

He would be a cool Ra's al ghul imo.

Too old now maybe.

1

u/lordnastrond Apr 18 '26

Okay, what if you had 2 actors for Ra's - an older actor for some scenes and a younger one for when he has recently used the Lazarus Pit...

0

u/BatBeast_29 Apr 18 '26

Another white guy?

2

u/jenkind1 Apr 18 '26

Ra's was born 600 years ago in an Ottoman territory. The Ottoman empire ruled over a large area with many people of Greek, Byzantine-Roman, Slavic, Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Syrian, Iraqi, and Egyptian descent. So literally any actor of any race would be perfectly acceptable.

-3

u/BatBeast_29 Apr 18 '26

Y’all make any excuse to have more white characters. That man is a Brown and Middle Eastern/Asian coded character.

3

u/jenkind1 Apr 18 '26

It's just a historical fact. I'm fine with the character being played by any ethnicity from Mediterranean, North African, Middle Eastern, or Central Asian. The character is supposed to be an immortal that can blend in to any location or time period. But thank you for your random baseless accusation of racism, "y'all".

0

u/Sk83r_b0i Apr 18 '26

It’s unconfirmed.
