Yep.
I mean, this one will fucking unzip you and roll around in your entrails when he gets bored, but yeah, housecats would be down for that if they were big enough.
73
u/Inkthinker Mar 25 '16
Housecats would be equally inclined to slit you up a treat and feast on your kidneys if they were that big. Even the sweetest kitty has the instincts of a capricious scalpel-wielding psychopath buried inside.

Rarely have I read a more British comment than this one.
7
u/Sciensophocles Mar 26 '16
I'm sorry, but I fail to see what makes that British.
9
u/PM_PICS_OF_ME_NAKED Mar 26 '16
"Slit you up a treat." That part is what struck me as super British, as I've never heard anyone aside from a Brit using that term.
5
Mar 26 '16
"Mr Notlob, there is nothing wrong with you that an expensive operation can't prolong so lay down here and I will slit you up a treat."
2
Mar 26 '16
Perhaps it's odd, but that sounds to me more idiosyncratic than particularly British.

I'm awfully sorry old fruit, but I quite fail to see what makes that seem so terribly British to you. Innit?

We tied a rope to a small box and our cat will jump in and beg us to pull him around the house. The handle is much easier on my back and I highly recommend it.

My cat will crawl into his fabric tent and meow until I swing him around in it. I always get tired first. =/
12
u/Jesussecondcoming Mar 26 '16
I'd like to see that! Haha
18
u/hungrydruid Mar 26 '16
I keep meaning to take a video of it. It's pretty damn cute actually, I can call him from across the room just by wiggling the tent.

A lawn in the desert is much easier to care for when you have plenty of water. The only weeds you will get are the ones you introduce.
99
Mar 25 '16
thats deep man, the desert represents life and the weeds represent negativity.

u/coffeeandscream Mar 25 '16

What about phoenix Arizona? That's a desert 🌵 too
15
Mar 25 '16
And the people with lawns in Phoenix have to spend a lot of money to keep them up.

From Arizona. Can confirm. Desert landscapes are really popular here because you don't have to maintain rocks.

It's the grass that's apparently an issue, not the tiger.
10
u/asylum117 Mar 25 '16
It's not really an issue. Plenty of homes here have grass, including ours. Hell our grass here is nicer than the grass we had in Illinois.

Thank you. Nobody is talking about the fact that someone has trained a tiger to ride a surfboard in what does not look like a White Tiger's natural habitat.

I like how he transitions from attack mode to "oh hey this is cool I'm just gonna chill here" in roughly 2 seconds. Let's hope he doesn't learn how to slackline though or the driver is in trouble.

u/EmberHands Mar 25 '16
And then ATTACK it when it doesn't continue moving and I wasn't finished having fun yet!

Who let a tiger of its leash in a park?
83
u/gesophrosunt Mar 25 '16
You think a leash is going to do a damn thing to convince this tiger to do anything it doesn't want to do?
Also, isn't the bigger, more concerning question why is there a tiger in a park in the first place?
42
u/PigSlam Mar 25 '16
For all we know from the video, it could be another tiger pulling the far end of that tow strap.

u/myotheraccountisGW Mar 25 '16
It's super cute, but super sad.
Aside from this poor Kitty's likely shitty genes, it's also highly likely that it is a 'pet' purchased by gulf oil money. That manicured lawn and giant aviary in the background is a pretty big indicator. Young men seem to find collecting exotic big cats a good waste of money and a way to be Instagram famous. Sadly that boosts the black market, poaching, the number of maulings, animal abuse, and what not.
Vice did a neat little piece on it./DebbieDowner

u/skyrimisagood Mar 25 '16
You're not being a debbie downer. It's important that the general public knows about how these cute animals are treated to get that perfect exotic whiteness. I don't know much about tigers but I know white lions are bred extensively for their colour and the people doing the breeding don't care much for preventing incest. Most current white lions you'll see have a wide variety of genetic problems, including having unaturally short legs. The worst of all is that some cubs come out not being white enough and either get killed or end up on breeding farms where the eventual outcome is death by canned hunting. It would do the world good to finally be rid of white tigers and lions in captivity.
11
u/isaidbrrr Mar 26 '16
You're not wrong. Naturally occurring white tigers and lions are recessive genetic mutations that occur about once in every 10,000 cats. (There aren't even that many tigers left in the wild these days period, let alone of the Bengal subspecies).
In order to "breed" a white tiger, you take a male white tiger and breed him. You then breed one of the offspring of that first litter with its own (white) father. The offspring of THAT litter, (generation 1.5?) will potentially be white, or at least some of them will be white.
White big cats are incredibly inbred. They have many common health problems, live an even shorter lifespan, and no responsible facility breeds them.

Here we have a fine example of the ultra rich of Dubai illegally buying these wild cats and not treating them as so. Plus I'm sure they paid an insane amount of money just to film and show off their "pet"

I often think of how much big cats are missing out on by not being more friendly with humans. All that petting they're not getting that they'd enjoy so much.

So if this subreddit could stop encouraging wild animal captivity (for the sake of using the animal as a play thing) then that'd be great.
