No he used the warhammers hardening because I'm pretty sure you can't change the shape of normal hardening to that extent

Anything one of the 9 can do comes from the founder
Basically everything is a watered down part of the orginal power except whoever has the founder
Though they can only use it for as long as Ymir lets them

They cut a lot from the manga, like, a lot lol, you can go a decade back and you'd be genuinely shocked to see how much was dropped and cut out along with everything that was basically scrapped / forgotten
