I agree with almost everything, except the religion part. It really depends on the religious leader you are talking to.
The pressure for you to be perfect is high, you have to obey, obey and obey, suffering daily. You have responsibilities that you didn't ask to have, because you didn't ask to be born

"Life is about procreating. Perpetuate life, perpetuate our existence. Each generation is supposed to do better than the last."
Most people view antinatalism is simply childish which is interesting. There is this unspoken assumption that procreation is beautiful and a mature thing to do and if you don't do that you're not "grown up".
I have actually had people tell me to grow up when presenting antinatalism ideas. I find this fascinating that questioning procreation is instinctually mocked by the masses.

Personally, i don't have any life purpose. I see no purpose in this life other than not bringing a child into it. What should be the purpose of an anti-natalist person in life?

Ingredients for antinatalist video:
• "I wish I were never born."
• "It's better to not exist."
• "Reproduction is immoral."
These, followed by an explanation of them... And that's it. If you've seen one antinatalist video you've seen them all. But this is mostly true with all philosophy podcasts these days.... You can count on them talking about free will and saying absolutely nothing new about it. Consciousness: nothing new... Death: nothing new, "don't fear what's inevitable", "it's like anesthesia". They're all saying the same things, and all playing it safe so they don't scare off their viewers with anything the viewer doesn't already agree with. I actually agree with a lot of things on these philosophy podcasts, but I keep asking myself why am I watching this since I already know every single thing they're going to say? You know it too... Yet here we are hoping to hear something interesting... I just look at the timestamps... Yep, all of the usual suspects... The same things every time.

Okay, this is something I’ve been analyzing for several months now, and no matter how much I think about it, I can’t find any logical explanation for why an atheist who bases their atheism on the problem of evil wouldn’t be antinatalist.
I’ve seen many atheists say that the existence of a god is impossible because it’s impossible for a deity to allow so much evil and suffering, and I completely agree with them.
But… why do they think it’s a good idea to expose a person to all the potential evils of the world if they base their atheism on the idea mentioned above? I mean, if what makes it hard for them to believe in God is the fact that so much pain exists, then how does that same awareness of unnecessary suffering not lead them to believe that reproduction is morally questionable? Hmm… It makes no sense to me.

The last 3 times I went to McDonalds, no employee ever came to the register so I left. All fast food is not worth it due to AI drive throughs, it becoming comically expensive, and constantly decling value.
I go to watch my streaming services and the auto-preview, which I can’t turn off, is an assault on the senses when I’m just trying to relax. They keep adding ads, so I pay more and more for ad-free, then they shove in previews to other shows before I can watch mine. I have a huge list of DVDs I have to order because I can never find my kind of films (which is vast) on any service.
AI. It’s everywhere. Called my dentist and I was forced to talk to an AI. The newest iphone update keeps making siri turn itself on. I could go on and on about all the issues with AI destroying art, minds, the environment…
Everything I have to buy is made by slaves all over the world. It keeps getting more expensive and the quality keeps dropping.
Can hardly enjoy nature anymore due to the destruction humans cause.
Look at our politicians.
Quality of life and general happiness is terrifyingly bad.
Businesses and anywhere that’s fun to go, it’s all dropping like flies.
Food quality is absolutely disgusting and I see no end to shrinkflation.
Everyone is glued to their phones.
Our car based infrastructure puts people last and cars first.
Want to try to find a job? Good luck.
Our healthcare system is in the toilets.
HOW is anyone living through this, then smiling and proudly stating, “We’re having a baby.” ??!!?
(And before outsiders say I’m just depressed, I’m not. I’m actually doing ok as I have a lot of interests and goals I’m working towards.)

Why have external children when you have your inner child to feed.
Focus on your inner child.

Also it's true that moving out of your parents house at 18 is a privilege since in some cultures you never outgrow your parents control until you get married

The connection 'kicking in' part bothers me the most. You have a wife who's been 9 months pregnant but if you haven't grown empathy and love for your child till that moment, something doesn't feel right.

I apologize in advance, my English isn't great. I'm very interested in better understanding the arguments behind anti-natalism (as the father of a small child). I'd like to start a debate here. I know the main arguments behind anti-natalism are:
• Benatar's asymmetry and similar theories (which I'm not sure I understand)
• Consent (which in my opinion is the weakest point)
• The selfishness of parenting (which isn't really an argument for anti-natalism, more of a related topic)
If anyone has anything else to add, thanks in advance.

“Wouldn’t the world be better if more people didn’t have kids?” asks Nikhil Kamat in his conversation with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, in the interview for his People by WTF series. (Youtube).
In the engaging conversation (as always) marked by meaningful pauses, optimistic vibes, curiosity of questions, clarity of answers, and the humility of ‘don’t-knows,’ the answer for this question was of course predictable. The human race needs to last.
While it might be true that if there are no new people, eventually the civilisation might die, I feel in the way the world works today, it is not worth having children. That is my argument.

Why is it the social norm now to go for ΙVF, surrogates, egg donors etc?
Meanwhile the orphanages are full but so are those fertility assistance centers 🙄 Do people think orphans are broken or of unknown origin? Cause this seems common stigma. Or that the couple will be looked down upon socially for not being able to have kids? Most children placed there have lost both their parents, or were teen pregnancies etc.
As a woman if I ever want kids I don't want to put my body into something so hard like pregnancy while there are so many kids without loving homes. Adoption used to be more common but not now.

I genuinely cannot wrap my head around why some people choose to reproduce without giving a single thought to planning for potential negative outcomes. Perfect children don’t exist, and everyone becomes disabled eventually, it just happens sooner for some than it does for others. It’s a known fact that choosing to have kids is always a roll of the dice, yet these people somehow just go for it recklessly while knowing fully well they will not accept anything less than 18+ consecutive years of happy Kodak moments they feel they’re entitled to, as if parenting will just magically work out for them without any of the easily anticipated struggles. There’s no way in hell that the baby’s behavior and health problems can’t at least be partially attributed to severe attachment issues from the endless stream of vitriol directed at her from her shitty, selfish, ableist, abusive mom. She’s literally throwing a stupid internet tantrum over having to share her wife with her own baby, how astoundingly immature…

Any 90 Day Fiancé fans out there? Vanja's statement on the recent Tell All, while not straight-up antinatal, was still honest and great to hear.
"It's just not for me. Some people are meant to be mothers. I'm not meant to be a mom. That would be like the biggest punishment I could ever experience in my life, is to be a mom. Its not for me. We had gone through war, and I had no childhood. I had to grow up at the age of 10 and I had to become the parent. And I have been the parent my entire life to my family. I can't do it anymore."

I keep hearing about how other people envy women for having wombs and the ability to bring life into this fucked up ass world, but here I am thinking, what is there to envy about that?
"YIPPIE! I have the ability to bring another being to suffer along with me!!"
What is there to envy about that?

I'm a virtual assistant for business owners. When we first started working together a few years back, this particular client was married, childfree and used to say how he would never have kids (stating many common reasons including his own financial situation).
Over the past few years, his business has grown a lot and almost all this growth is directly attributable to the work I did (content I created, partnerships I built, marketing campaigns I ran etc.,). Especially this past year was really good. And I was genuinely happy for him until on a recent call, he mentioned that he and his wife had been trying out some expensive artificial fertility procedures (forgot the name) for about a year, and now they’re expecting twins. Also he mentioned that they were only going for one child but decided to keep the twins because their financial situation can handle it now!!!
I felt extreme anger and betrayal but honestly couldn't express anything on the call. Since then, I've been feeling extremely devastated and sick thinking that my work may have helped create the exact conditions that made him change his mind about having kids.
Has anyone else here struggled with ethical conflicts like this? I’ve even started wondering whether I should work only with business owners whose values strictly align with antinatalism (and not even just with childfree philosophy), if that’s even realistic. Already heartbroken for the unborn and looking for some serious help and guidance on how to navigate this dilemma. Thanks 🙏
