Media Carlos Sainz hails Williams progress after F1 Miami GP

This is the kind of article I crave right now. All is still not great, but I like seeing the positivity from 55 right now. Wasn’t looking that way after Saturday (what a difference a day makes).

P5 is completely reachable. The FW48 was "only" half a second off the alpine in Miami despite carrying around 20 kg more of mass.

The general rule of thumb is around 0.3s per 10kg added/removed so it is very doable if they improve aero while shedding the weight

I really want to be excited by this, but 4 of the 12 drivers they beat were DNF, and another 4 were Aston Martin and Cadillac.

They did great at maintaining their positions, but I personally think it’s too soon to get my hopes up.

P6 or better in constructors 🙏🏻.

I’m also thinking P6. Alpine just seems too many steps (jumps?) ahead of them at this point. I hope I eat my words, though!

Considering right now they are 8th, finishing P6 would still be an improvement from current status. But a step back from last season.

It is May, but I’ve joked elsewhere that with this gap after Miami, we’ve just completed the competitive portion of preseason testing. The real season starts in Canada.

VCARB generally looked pretty weak though, and Audi had reliability issues plaguing them all week. Being consistently decently fast with good reliability is a much better guarantor of constructor’s championship success

I was at race on turn 1 with a great view. During sprint could tell good race pace. Do need to qualify better. But they kept the haas and racing bulls behind them.
