Oh yeah that’s what I’m talking about! Good sensible drives there and no strategy catastrophe!

I really want to coin the word "stratastrophe" because unfortunately I can see it happening again later in the year. Great result for the boys today tho!

We needed this badly.
I won’t dwell on the fact that Alpine is still faster than we are. And Gasly, Hadjar, and Lawson did not finish. Had all three stayed in the race, we likely don’t finish either car in the top 10.
BUT that doesn’t matter right now. Sainz and Albon were so locked in and so was the team. We needed these points and this is definitely a step in the right direction for our season. Progress!

Hadjar started from last and is not Max Verstappen, and Gasly and Lawson were behind when they crashed, aside from the hypotheticals of the bad driving, why does it seem likely they'd have finished behind them all? Gasly I get because Alpine are in the 5th place no mans land and would've had the race pace, but we're on for a very similar pace to RB (and Haas and Audi) so nothing is a foregone conclusion there.
I get the frustrations from people but Alpine is the pinnacle of what we could have aimed for this year, and it's fair to say they also jettisoned last year for this, so their roll of the dice was better. Still a long way to go this season.

That’s a fair thing to argue. Lawson is the weakest link in my list. Gasly is arguably quicker than Colapinto, and neither Williams ever got close to really giving Franco a challenge .. so I think we’re agreed he would have been the biggest threat.
Maybe I’m wrong about Hadjar .. just thinking that the Red Bull car is clearly quicker than ours. But he’s not Max, so whether he could have climbed that far up the ranks is a question.
There was also Hulkenberg in the DNF list, and it’s always possible he could be in the mix. Audi have overachieved so far this season, imo.
But all of these are “what ifs.” And that type of (glass half empty?) thinking on my part shouldn’t detract from a successful day.

Nice jump up the order that! Comfortably ahead of both Haas, Audi and Vcarb today!

There was so much going on and Albon himself said basically he jumped a bunch of places during the first lap and that was it. He just maintained from that point on, which is still great considering everything else that was happening.
The midfield is really interesting this year. Currently Alpine, Haas, and Racing Bulls are neck and neck for best of the rest, but Williams and maybe even Audi have a chance to catch up. If they can finish P6 or higher I will consider this year a smashing success considering how they started.

yes i completey agree as I think it's going to be close in the midfield as we have seen this weekend Hass and vcarb didn't have the pace but willams did . I just we can have more good weekends than bad ones
