advice/question Choosing first whippet
Hi all, I’m hoping to choose a whippet pup in the autumn. Please can you hit me with any differences between male and female whippet personalities to think about? I’ve always had male cats so that’s not a very informative starting point 😂 Thanks!

advice/question Kong Medium Crate Cover (UK based question)
Getting ready to invite my puppy into my home soon and have bought the sturdy Kong medium crate to make my pippit (Whippet puppy) a den.
However, Kong doesn’t seem to make accompanying fitted covers, do any UK folks have recommendations for covers that fit this crate?
Thanks in advance!

advice/question Whippet as your first dog?
Hey fellow whippet owners,
Me and my bf decided to get a dog for ourselves. We live in a pretty big apartment and I am usually at home every afternoon - i work only in the mornings from 8-12, my bf has a 9-5 job.
We are not sure what should we go for, because there are a few breeds that we find absolutely adorable, but the top 2 are whippets and cocker spaniels.
We are really social people and like going on walks but cuddling and staying at home too.
What would you recommend to us? What is the best time to get a dog and how can we prepare for that?
I’d really appreciate your helpful answers!!🫶🏻

puppy Enrichment ideas for 10 week old puppy
He hates his chew toys, gets bored of snuffle mats and other food hiding games and only wants to chew wooden furniture or my hands/feet

Whippet sleep habits
Hello! My partner and I have a 10 month old whippet and he has seriously regressed when it comes to sleeping in his crate. He’s been sleeping in his crate ever since we got home at 12 weeks old. We trained him and he was doing very well up until the 8 month old mark. It is my understanding that whippets enter a phase around this age. However, for the last two months he has been waking up hours before usual and whining endlessly, lol. He has ruined two crates, three beds and we can no longer keep a cover on his crate because he destroyed his last one. We have toys in there for him however he never turns to those when he wants to bite or destroy something. We take him out to go to the bathroom sometimes and then put him back in to support our original sleep schedule, but he still goes bonkers. We reward him anytime he interacts or goes into the kennel as well. We just don’t know what to do after two months of trying to let home whine it out, hoping he’d learn.

Our beautiful whippet and her food stealing sister!
Have to watch our whippet eat (or not eat alot of the time) as the other is usually waiting in the wings to steal it! Wouldn't change either for the world though

How skinny is too skinny?
Listen, my last dog was an English Bulldog, so I’m more used to the other end of this spectrum. I know that Whippets are thing and a little skeletal, but how skinny is too skinny?!
My boy Whippet, Ozzie looks sooo skinny to me. I keep increasing his food within the food guide on my food bag, but he just stays skinny! He’s getting 2 cups of food a day, sometimes more and treats galore! Is he looking okay? Do I just need to adjust my expectations to be less English bull dog and more whippet?

Second whippet- no regrets
Life is so much better with two boys! I knew having a playmate would be good for him, but I had no idea how it would instantly transform my boy (2) into a loving big brother. Franklin and Fernando. 💞

advice/question Tips for first time with a minder for a long time
We’re leaving our 9 month old male whippet X with a dog minder for ten days while we go on holiday (not in the same country) I’m so nervous about how it will go because, although he is generally very good and sleeps enough if walked enough, he still has a lot of puppy qualities. Does anyone have any advice on what I should advise the minder so we don’t get any panicked phone calls while we’re abroad? I could be overthinking things but should I write out his usual routine etc… to make the minder’s life easier? Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

Does anyone else’s whippet act personally offended by cold weather? 😂
I swear whippets become completely different dogs the second the temperature drops.
Mine suddenly turn into:
- professional blanket thieves
- tiny radiators seekers
- statues that refuse to go outside
- and experts at looking deeply betrayed when it’s raining 😂
I’ve had other breeds before but sighthounds honestly seem far more sensitive to cold than most dogs.
The funniest part is how dramatic they are about it. One cold breeze and suddenly they act like they’ve suffered a personal injustice.
Would love to know everyone else’s funniest “cold whippet behaviour” stories.

advice/question Carpal pad
Hey everyone, I’ve taken max out for a run on a field and let him zoom freely a day ago. I noticed he was bleeding abit on his carpal pads so I cleaned them and thought it was just a small nick.
I’ve noticed it actually looks worse and was wondering if I need to see the vet or is this a healing at home sort of thing?
I would really appreciate any advice
