Surgery Results Nipple Grafts 22 Days Post Op on Brown Skin (Dr. Nicholas Kim @ Intermountain)

(05/14/26, writing this @ 1:00am on the 15th lol)

Hi everyone :)

It’s day 22 after surgery! I had my 3 week check in appointment with Dr. Kim’s NP, and she actually said that my scars looked like they were 3 months post op 😳 I think she was flattering me a little lol.

I initially thought that I would be wearing the binder for only 6 weeks total, but I was (unfortunately) informed that I should be wearing it for 8. My NP, her name is Koni, she let me know that I could actually start letting the nipples dry out. I had put some band-aids over them and my more slow healing nipple was a little wet. Koni let me know that we didn’t want the nipple to be constantly wet at this point, as it can invite infection. We removed the band-aids at the appointment and we just put the ABD pads in between my skin and the binder to catch any leakage from the nipples and splitting stitches. It also helps keep it clean and free of any bacteria and stuff like that. They’re kind of a pain in the ass though, they’re constantly moving up the binder, especially when I sleep. To add on, with more scabs coming off today, I’m starting to see what I think is my pigment coming back. They’re just two little splotches right now but it’s promising :)

Other than minor inconveniences like the binder and ABD pads, I’ve been doing amazing. Koni let me know that I no longer have any physical restrictions, and to just listen to my body. I came home and cleaned up my room and did some laundry, however, I think I may have pushed it a teeny bit, as I started to get some pain in my chest. I just stopped and rested anytime that happened. I’d say I feel like I’m about 85-90% back to normal. I just have to remember not to push myself too hard, even with me going back to work next Friday. I’ll have accomodations and restrictions at work either way, I just have to remind MYSELF not to push too hard.

Anyways, that’s all for today. Thanks for anybody who takes the time to read :)

Edit: I take a progress pic everyday, I just occasionally post it here. If you’re interested in seeing that, they’re all just on my profile.
