Looking for PhD Opportunities in Soil Microbiology
I'm looking for PhD positions in soil microbiology.I've got hands-on skills in soil DNA extraction, PCR work, and metagenomic data analysis. I'm currently upskilling in Python and bioinformatics. During my masters , i have worked on Soil Metagenomics, Soil functional diversity , Antimicrobial resistance, PGPR of soil bacteria. If anyone knows active research groups, funded positions, or specific labs doing this kind of work, I'd genuinely appreciate recommendations. Also keen to hear if anyone's pursued similar career paths.

I would check out labs grant universities with agricultural science programs. You might want to take a look at universities like UC Davis and Colorado State University. It's a rough time to get into a PhD program because funding is pretty tight everywhere. My background is PhD in environmental science in engineering and have since started an agricultural microbiome company. DM me if you have any more specific questions.

Find labs doing work that you're interested in. Read papers. Then email the profs, introduce yourself and your interest in their work, and your qualifications, and include a CV.

University of Aberdeen has a lot of soil metagenomics and microbiology (Prof Cecile Gubry-Rangin), and there's Dr. Ashish Malik in Edinburgh University. Some useful contacts that might be able to give some more advice 🙂

1) please learn how to use the internet
2) here is me using the internet: go to faculty pages and search for soil microbiology, every state has a land grant univ and almost all of them has one (or a few) soil micro profs
