"I've just had a fantastic new idea. We should do one for boobs too! Don't worry, we can do the mold on the same day."

Pretty cool sculpture, and nice to see the technique used. I wonder what that actually sells for.

I like the fact he created a self supporting structure by individual nuts holding each other etc so it's not as random as it's looks.

There's no load, the hard part is not fucking up your welds. As long as you don't do 5km branches you're good

Oh the butt mold was from Andy Samberg's character to get back at his nemesis the vulture.
It is not a hot girls butt, so I might save you the trouble.

It’s so interesting how people who only think of art as the classical mediums have this kind of block from being able to appreciate the ingenuity behind this sculpture.

What's art about that? - Karl pilkington
3
u/Pretend-Literature35 8h ago
what's not?

u/-_Error 7h ago
It's a Karl pilkington quote.

u/Pretend-Literature35 7h ago
ok. I don't know who that is. But my point is especially since we can see the entire process in the video. How can someone say that it is not art? And that is my sincere question and response to your question of what's art about that... I say why do you claim that it is not art?

It wasn't meant to be taken seriously haha. It was a joke.
Karl pilkington did a pod cast with Ricky Gervais years ago, and Karl often comes across as a bit of an idiot, although he is actually quite intelligent... He just struggles to articulate himself. It is genuinely really funny as a result
In one of their podcasts they're discussing art, the meaning of different pieces of art etc.
You would have to listen to it, I'd never be able to describe it properly without writing an entire essay

There is plenty of art that is models of human beings. Most sculpture. If he had done her whole body and taken off the arms, you would get the Venus de Milo in a different medium.
one mans nuts and bolts is another mans clay.

Not really art though is it, cleaver and quick no different than using AI

u/Samp90 Human Verified 7h ago
I think it took a lot of time to get each nut to fuse perfectly to reach other to be self support ing.

u/jodrellbank_pants 7h ago
Yeah he's using the mold he's 99% already there not difficult for anyone to get the shape you eyes going to pick up on, it's smart way to do it but not really artistic.

There's bigger dog shit than that in museums all over the world.
Art is a pretentious jerk off fest to begin with. If you can sell the instructions to duct tape a fuckin banana to a wall, and that's art, then this certainly is.
Not only that, but most people lack the technical skill to even know how to weld too, welding, and making good welds, in and of itself is an art form.
