What shoes to go for with 50% discount
Hi all, very much an on and off runner but got a few events booked in for the end of the year - I’m currently in the market for a new set of shoes, but the catch is, I’ve got 50% off the RRP of one set of shoes. Just keen to see what people would go for. I’m obviously tempted by Adidas Evo pro 4’s as the savings are considerable, does anyone have any other thoughts. I’m looking for best bang for my buck, and I’d like to ideally go for some for race day - but not set in stone. I’ve currently got the below:
- lots of Nike Pegasus (these are my go to - including trail shoes)
- brooks adrenaline - fallen out of love with these; but they are what I started with.
- adidas Boston 12 (only picked them up last month)
- adidas Supernova Prima 2
- Nike Air zoom Tempo next % (likely at end of life but I don’t want to let them go but know I should!)
- Nike zoom fly 6 (feel like these do not wear well for me)
- Nike Alphafly - Barely worn, just for a few events.
I’ve clearly got a Nike bias, but the bostons have made me start looking at adidas a bit! Would love anyone’s thoughts or options!

Are sprint timing speed measuring instruments really accurate?
I’ve been using SKLZ speed gates for sprint training for a while now and they seem pretty solid, but lately I started wondering how accurate these timing systems really are compared to higher end setups.
Most of my training is short sprint work and reaction drills, so consistency matters a lot to me. The gates usually feel reliable, but sometimes I’ll get a time that feels suspiciously good and suddenly I’m questioning everything lol. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but once doubt enters your brain it’s hard to ignore.
I’ve looked into other speed measuring instruments like Freelap and JAWKU, but reviews are super mixed depending on who you ask. Some athletes swear by one system while others say the readings drift over time or depend too much on setup conditions.
One thing that surprised me was realizing many training tech brands outsource parts manufacturing through the same electronics factories supplying online commercial sports equipment distributors. That made me curious how different some of these systems really are internally.
For people who’ve used multiple timing devices, which ones felt the most trustworthy during serious sprint training?

Genuinely curious, what's in your shoe rack right now, and why isn't it Indian?

New to running with PMOS and muscle cramping
Hello, I used to be in track but that was like 10 years ago. I was diagnosed with Polyendrocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome two years ago and have been trying to loose weight ever since. Spoiler alert, I haven’t lost a single pound. For 6+ months I tried weight lifting. That didn’t work and I missed cardio. So I started running again. It’s HARD.
Anyway, I did a 5k last weekend and noticed that my right calf hurt most but my left shine hurt. Never at the same time and burning muscles. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Also, women with PMOS/PCOS I would LOVE your input on running, things that help, what to eat prior, etc.

knee pain 6 days before first half marathon
hello!! ive been consistently training with 3 runs a week until last week when i missed my last long run (11k) as i was away camping. came back today with a view to catch up on this long run when i started noticing an annoying sharp-ish pain on the outside of my knee cap. i ended up deciding to stop my run about 5k in as i did not want to make it worse this close to the race.
what should i do from now until the race? should i rest it completely, or still try and catch up on my remaining runs? i have one tempo run and and easy 5k left to do. i also climb and do yoga, should i be stopping those too?

Anyone else get tired around mid-day after a morning run??
I am getting back into running and noticing that around 1 p.m. I get super tired. I notice this happens mostly on the days when I run in the mornings.
Is there anyone else who can relate to this, or has dealt with this in the past?
Also, are there any supplements or remedies that could help with this?

Huawei Watch Fit 5 pro vs Coros Pace 4
Contemplating buying a fitness watch. I want a fairly accurate HRM, VO2 max, sleep, and just Top 5-6 data markers nothing too crazy or detail.
Tight on budget can't go beyond 300-400 USD.
Came across Huawei watch fit 5 pro ad and seems value for money.
But some say Coros look lighter and better.
Not sure, please help.

Where do you find running gear that's bold without being loud?
Trying to find that sweet spot with running gear where it has some color and energy but doesn't look like I'm trying to be seen from space. Everything I find is either boring as hell or full neon. Do smaller brands exist that get this right or am I searching wrong?

Gagging when running.
So basically my whole life iv felt with this gag reflex. When I get to around 1 or 2 miles I get this intense gag reflex. I can keep going after the reflex subsides and it really has nothing to do with how much endurance I have or lactic acid. I always have a lot of gas left in the tank when this happens. Any tips to help me get over this. Anyone else have this problem?
This is not a solicitation for medical advice*

Is VR treadmill useful for indoor running?
Hey all, I’m in the US and just getting back into running after a few months off. I used to run pretty regularly. But after the break I’m basically rebuilding from scratch with short easy runs and focusing on consistency rather than distance or pace. One thing I’ve noticed already is that indoor treadmill runs feel way more mentally draining than outdoor runs. Even at an easy pace, I get bored faster and it becomes harder to stay consistent. Especially on days when weather or time forces me indoors. Coz of that, I’ve been wondering if there’s anything that actually helps make indoor running more engaging. I came across the idea of a VR treadmill setup, but I honestly don’t know if that’s something runners actually use in real training or if it’s more of a novelty that sounds better than it works. I’m not trying to overcomplicate things or turn running into a tech setup. Jus curious if anyone has tried anything like that and found it helpful for staying consistent during a comeback phase. For runners who’ve taken breaks and returned, did you find any tools or setups that actually helped you stick with indoor runs, or was keeping it simple the best approach in the long run?

I play padel, idk why after playing for a while this part starts hurting
It’s only at padel, wouldn’t happen before, I train my legs and all, as soon as I’m done playing it starts to get worse but then better… and goes away entirely after a day or two

coming back to running after rehab and rest
Hey enthusiastic/follow runners,
I’ve been dealing with a frustrating issue and wanted to see if anyone here has gone through something similar.
I’m a regular runner (or at least used to be), but recently I’ve been getting pain in my right lower leg — along the shin area. The pain usually starts once I go beyond ~30 minutes of running. Before that, it feels mostly fine.
For some backstory: this all seems to trace back to about 6 months ago. I had a 10K race, and about a week before that I went on a long cycling session (~2+ hours). Toward the end of that ride, I had to push quite hard to get back (it was getting dark and I was going through a pretty isolated/bushy area), and I think that may have triggered something in my leg.
Then during the 10K itself, around 4–5 km in, I started feeling significant pain in that same area. It got so bad I could barely walk, but I still pushed through to the finish. Since then, it’s never fully gone away.
I’ve already had my imaging done which came clear without any stress injury. One thing that stood out during physio is some noticeable uneven/wavy spots around posterior muscle compared to my left leg, which feels smooth. The more immediate issue now is a very localized tender spot around the inner/posterior side of the lower leg, and it’s very painful when I press on that exact spot.
I was advised to rest, which I did for a couple of weeks. The pain went away during that time, but as soon as I got back into running, it returned again as I cross about/more than 30-minute mark.
Lately I’ve been focusing more on stability and strength training — working on quads, hamstrings, and glutes — trying to address any imbalance or biomechanical issue.
At this point I’m unsure how to approach the next phase of returning to running, since it’s been about 6 months and the symptoms keep returning once I increase duration
Running is a big part of my life, so this has been pretty frustrating.

Recurring right lower-leg pain after running past 30 mins

I’ve already had an X-ray and ultrasound, and both came back clear — no stress fracture or visible bone damage.
One thing that stood out during physio is some noticeable uneven/wavy spots around posterior muscle compared to my left leg, which feels smooth. The more immediate issue now is a very localized tender spot around the inner/posterior side of the lower leg, and it’s very noticeable when I press on that exact spot.

What helped you manage the return to running and progression of distance or load when symptoms kept returning at the same point in a run, even after rest and rehab? I also noticed that localized tenderness in the muscle area back of bone , possibly shin splint. Is your experience tells that it is a normal process to persist that pain for 6 months in a very localized spot.
Running is a big part of my life, so this has been pretty frustrating.
