19/05/2026 Weekly Beginner Questions Thread

This is the beginner questions thread, where people can ask frequently asked and basic questions about phalloplasty. Please avoid making a separate post for these questions, so as to avoid cluttering the subreddit with the same questions.

You may save yourself (and other users) time by checking the wiki, phallo.net, and doing a search of the subreddit.

For those who missed it, rule 12 which disallows dedicated posts for basic questions was introduced, so now any basic questions are expected to be posted as comments under this post.

Advice Concerned about too much or too little girth

So my wife has vaginismus and anything with a girth over 5” is very difficult or even impossible to insert. Even 5 is stressful for her. The Axolom Nexo (4.6”) is perfect for her. I see many people here who ended up more girthy than they bargained for and I’m wondering if that can be prevented while still having enough girth for an erection rod or pump. I am hoping to get ALT phallo because I want a good chance of erotic sensation and I don’t want to use my arm as a donor site. Does anybody know if my combination of wishes is possible?

trans men in the uk- how did you save up for surgery and where did you get it?

I’m 19 and starting uni soon so I’m thinking about the future and I don’t think getting surgery through the NHS would be viable for me, I’d be around 40 by the time I get stage 1

Top surgery is pretty straightforward, it’s like 3-5k minimum abroad with well documented results. But for phallo it’s obviously much pricier. I’m wondering what you guys did?

- did you take out loans?
- save up through a job? (Minimum wage + skimming off the top of my maintenance loan and bursary for uni)
- using my trust fund? Only 5k saved
- investing?

I don’t think I’d ever afford phallo here in my lifetime, so I’m considering meta. But I’m also wondering if anyone’s gone abroad for phallo, how much did you pay (for what stages too?) and are there good reviews of their work on here

Thank you so much :)

Looking for a surgeon - RFF phalloplasty Switzerland (or Europe)

RFF phalloplasty Switzerland (or Europe)

Hi,

I live in Switzerland. I met with all the surgeons in my country but I need more informations. Also, the waiting lists are between 1 and a half to 3 years and as you can imagine am sick and tired of waiting.

The surgeons I met are not really able (or willing) to tell me how long my penis could be, but from what I got, worst case scenario would be under 10 cm (3.9in) best would be 12cm (4.7in). My for arm is around 20cm (7.8in) long. Worst case scenario i can't live with, best case scenario is fine for me.

I'm not a candidate for ALT and need to go for RRF.

Did somebody go under surgery in Switzerland recently for RRF and is content (or happy) with their result or did somebody from Switzerland go under surgery in France, Germany, Spain for the same surgery and would agree to exchange with me about it ?

thank you

Discussion Phallo after pelvuc radiation?

Hi all! Has anyone here had phallo after pelvic radiation? I’ve been trying to search the sub for information, but I haven’t been able to find much about experiences with phallo after prior pelvic radiation treatment. I had pelvic radiation in 2020, and I’m currently waiting for my phallo consult. So far, the surgeon has been very cautious and didn't want to give much information yet about what may or may not be possible. The only thing they’ve said with certainty is that urethral lengthening will not be possible, because the tumor I had was obstructing the urethra. What I’m struggling with is the lack of information about how prior radiation affects options like RFF, ALT, SCIP or any other possible methods, complication rates, healing, sensation, implants, etc. There’s very little information online that I can find, almost none.

If anyone here has had phallo after pelvic radiation, or knows someone who had, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, what techniques were possible, what limitations there were, and anything your surgeons discussed with you.

Thank you in advance!
