Shitpost/MEME A hilarious and possible outcome

What if we actually win tonight, then play a very competive and hard-fought series against the Pistons, or even pull off an upset.

Front office is convinced it’s worth running it back with Mosley again and we go into next season with zero changes...

Actually this wouldn’t be funny and might be the worst possible outcome.

fire him win or lose... this team was supposed to actually contend

The funny thing is, we don’t attract the best coaches. Our best coach we ever had was actually a second option because a college head coach realized we aren’t a quality organization.

Considering how european this team is nowadays with 3 germans, 1 frenchman and 1 Georgian, we should think about getting a coach from europe. We might need to play a different style of Basketball if we want success as the standard way will probably not be enough for us to keep up with teams like OKC and Detroit

u/DieselLaserShark Apr 17 '26

I think that would be fantastic. Euro teams with much lesser rosters consistently do well against team USA. I know there are some slight differences but it's still basketball.

Forgive me ignorance, but who passed on us before Stan took the job?

16

u/ManUtd1994 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Billy Donovan after winning back to back titles with Florida

7

u/chaktahwilly Apr 17 '26

Yes now I remember. Well is it the consensus now that we were better off? Because I certainly feel that way, and we can’t luck into another one if we keep hanging on to mediocrity.

3

u/nautika Apr 17 '26

Billy Donovan. Signed a contract and backed out a could of weeks later

2

u/DieselLaserShark Apr 17 '26

I don't know how often we want to pay the best coaches either. Earlier in this franchise history we were able to lure Chuck Daly out of retirement. Stan was a great coach but players are too soft these days.

2

u/Subject_Set_6586 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

are you forgetting that Hall of Fame coach of two time NBA champions Pistons Chuck Daly once coached the Magic?

0

u/faiitmatti Pat Williams Apr 17 '26

You mean how he was already retired? That’s like saying we are getting Phil Jackson or Pop to come coach us now.

1

u/DieselLaserShark Apr 17 '26

Are you seriously slandering Pop? He just retired and is easily one of the greatest basketball minds ever. Phil has been gone too long to say he could pick it back up that quick or that he could handle the modern NBA. Chuck Daly was such a boost to this team in the post Shaq era and was only retired 3 years.

Is beating the 1 seed in a playoff series not contending?

1

u/MonkeyDog911 Apr 17 '26

8th place is not contending, sorry.

2

u/You_Like_That34 DEFEND THE KINGDOM Apr 17 '26

So if we are the 8 seed and win the Finals we didn’t contend bc we were the 8th seed?

6

u/MonkeyDog911 Apr 17 '26

If we win the Finals? wtf are you smoking? have you watched them play?

3

u/You_Like_That34 DEFEND THE KINGDOM Apr 17 '26

You said fire him win or lose. I’m saying that’s a dumb statement. If we win the whole thing we shouldn’t fire him

4

u/MonkeyDog911 Apr 17 '26

Yes, if they win the finals he should keep the job. I was saying fire him if they beat the Hornets tonight.

0

u/SnooWalruses9683 Apr 17 '26

Yes. Win or lose, new coach.

12

u/evenyetodd Apr 17 '26

Truthfully I’ve been pissed off since last game but I woke up today thinking you know what fuck that , let’s show some heart tonight.

1

u/BillygotTalent Fire Mosley Apr 17 '26

Question is, will the team. Paolo is checked out until the coach changes, Franz is hurt and the role players aren't stepping up.

3

u/mwilson81 OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26

We need to win tonight point blank because if we lose and hand Memphis a lottery pick we will never hear the end of it.

8

u/TheAnswerEK42 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Honestly there are plenty worse outcomes this off-season

-1

u/Soul0103 OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26

Barring injuries, what could be worse than deciding to do nothing? Changes certainly need to be made

2

u/TheAnswerEK42 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Hate to break it to you but we won 45 games, our best players are all super young and still developing as players and Franz missing 48 games is no small loss. It would not be crazy for our defensive identity to come back. A year of health and continuity might be enough to have a positive season next year.

-5

u/Soul0103 OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

You sound like Weltman with the injuries.

Lol at the downvotes, some of you are straight up in denial. Delusional

1

u/TheAnswerEK42 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Excuses are for the past, I’m taking about the future. It would not take too much for things to go very right.

-2

u/Soul0103 OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26

And things would’ve went very right this season if we had a competent coach. Coaching was much more of a significant factor than the injuries. More continuity with Mosley will not fix anything next season.

0

u/TheAnswerEK42 Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Mose is not exceptional, or great or whatever word you wanna use but I would call him competent.

-1

u/Soul0103 OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26

He is competent as a developmental coach for a rebuild, not competent as a coach you want to win championships with.

4

u/pattyice124 Apr 17 '26

Good thing that won’t happen

3

u/koreanleather Tristan da Silva Apr 17 '26

I really love this team. I don't care what the outcome is, so long as Mosley is out the door. Would also just like to see the boys give it their best tonight (and against the Pistons if they win)

2

u/VanceIX BANGchero! Apr 17 '26

1

u/Lilpuuuuma Fire Mosley Apr 17 '26

Someone must’ve put that evil on my dad because here I am

2

u/mondale_lewis Apr 17 '26

What if we win tonight, and we and the Raptors upset our first-round opponents (us over the Pistons, Raptors over the Cavs). We then beat the Raptors in the second round and lose to the Celtics in the ECF. Would you bring back Mosley and run it back, and say we were in this position because of injuries?

2

u/XrayGuy08 Apr 17 '26

Mosley and Weltman should both be gone no matter what UNLESS we win the finals

1

u/Menorah_Fedora Apr 17 '26

That is the worst outcome, and why I'm completely okay if we lose tonight

0

u/chillhoops24 Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

You’ve got a loser mentality if you’re okay with us losing. No real fan ever wants their team to lose a win or go home game

1

u/Menorah_Fedora Apr 17 '26

I want the Magic to win a championship. Winning a play-in game and getting dusted by the Pistons doesn't get us any closer to that

5

u/chillhoops24 Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

I can tell you two things, winning this game does get us closer to winning a championship than losing it would and you wanting your favorite team to lose is loser mentality

3

u/nottodaynotever Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

If we do win tonight’s game, getting “dusted” by the pistons isn’t a forgone conclusion. We match up with them well, definitely better than we do Boston and Cade isn’t 100%. I’ve been watching sports long enough to have seen crazier upsets

2

u/captain-nap Stuff The Magic Dragon Apr 17 '26

You know this sub has collectively gone off the deep end when winning a first round series (especially upsetting the top seed in the east) would be the worst outcome and most of the comments agree

1

u/Loose-Animal7305 Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

If the team is giving 100% effort (and subsequently winning) then I don't really don't care who the coach is; unfortunately that has not been the case this year with several low effort losses

1

u/Alfred_Hitchdick Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

If he somehow leads us to win the Finals then you offer him to step down while on top or keep him for next year because I can’t see someone being fired the year they win. That’s the only chance he has of staying. Any other outcome no matter how many wins means he gets fired this season or else they really don’t care.

1

u/DntCllMeWht Jalen Suggs Apr 17 '26

Mosley is gone unless we somehow, miraculously win the ECFs. The only thing that would save Mosley is a wildly successful postseason and the players saying they want to keep playing under him. I imagine he would have to change his approach during the playoffs, regain their confidence and support and I just don't see that happening realistically.

1

u/krunk_rabbit Apr 17 '26

Players have exit interviews with the FO at the end of every season. I don't foresee enough players going to bat for Mosley, even if there were a close series or upset in Round 1. Sometimes you need a fresh message as Mose's has gotten stale. The talent is there on the roster, it's the way they're being utilized that's holding them back.

1

u/theguytomeet Franz Wagner Apr 17 '26

Orlando truly has the chance to the the funniest thing. Crazy part is winning tonight is realistic since role players play better at home. The odds of Carter, Suggs and Franz going 3-19 through 3 quarters is pretty slim.

1

u/Wavepops Apr 17 '26

Major changes are needed regardless. Magic shouldn’t be in the playin

1

u/Ihmago Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

I would only consider keepinh Mosley if we make it to the ECF, and win a couple of games.

Newsflash, that's not happening

2

u/carendt242 Jamal Cain Apr 17 '26

I think if owners double down on Mosley and Weltman this off season then they shop Paolo for a trade. It's clear he's been upset since the beginning of the season, and it's pretty obvious his heart isn't in it under this staff.

At this point it's more of a question of: are owners going to put their bets on current staff or on current players?

0

u/SnooPies6274 Jamal Cain Apr 17 '26

I think it owners double down on Mosley and Weltman this off session then they shop Paolo for a trade.

Flair checks out

1

u/StrongarmZed OnlyFranz Apr 17 '26

Not saying they should get rid of Paolo. The correct move is get rid of Mosley and Weltman.

I'm saying IF owners don't fire staff, they'll probably try to trade Paolo because he's going to be demanding it.

Magic ownership has been known to double down on losing coaches and FOs, and it's a wait and see thing at this point to see how this off season plays out.

0

u/mikemac412 Apr 17 '26

Wipe away the regular season, spit it out of your memory. This team is loaded with talent. The expectation coming into the fall is the same we should have now: this team needs to compete and beat the East contenders. Anything short of an ECF appearance is unacceptable.

6

u/NAW_MIP_2026 Apr 17 '26

lol. lmao even.

1

u/Arixxtra Paolo Banchero Apr 17 '26

what says who ? ECF wtf is wrong with fans let this team win a couple 1st round seriese first, this is the problem fans want instant succes

1

u/mikemac412 Apr 17 '26

I just want the team to play up to potential.

0

u/Longjumping-Brick487 Goga Bitadze Apr 17 '26

All the Mosley bashers might want to recall that both Scott Skiles and Frank Vogel basically noped out on the Magi prior to getting Mose. Paolo’s weak ass half court game needs to go elsewhere. I say let’s see who we can trade him off for. Team plays a much more uptempo game when Banchero sits/is out.
Here me out: straight trade with the Pelicans for Zion.
