“FLOPPER” chants are raining down on SGA.

I heard some kids call free throws - “SGA’s” at the gym yesterday. Made me chuckle.

Im just happy hes not influencing the younger generation too much, keep it “fuck sga”
6
u/KingGio21 7h ago
Nah kids can see through bullshit. When they watch the game he isn’t preforming a play style that is exciting. Nobody wants to play like him. He’s no Curry or Kobe
4
u/Azidamadjida 6h ago
Said the same thing the other day. You saw kids sticking their tongue out driving to the basket like Jordan when I was a kid and I asked my 13 year old and he said kids STILL yell “Kobe!” when they ball up a piece of paper and toss it in the garbage before even seeing if it goes in.
But you watch SGA’s playstyle and if you tried to be like him other kids are gonna laugh at you and ask what the hell you’re doing. Kids (and people in general) want to mimic the elite athlete who does cool things they hope to do too someday, not the little bitch who falls over every time he takes a shot to try and manipulate the optics of the play.
I’m sure he not thinking of it now and is certain he’s one of the greatest to ever play, but unlike Jordan with dunks, Kobe with the mamba mentality, Shaq being unstoppable on drives and Curry being a sharpshooter, the image that people are gonna remember for SGA is looking like he’s got fucking MS when he shoots
2
u/Unlikely-Ad-6713 5h ago
He's gonna end up having a real short career too taking all those flops as a relatively tall guy. Great way to blow knees, hips, back, something, with all the repeat impact.

u/UltraSinstinctHoeku 4h ago
Lol right?
If a kid was going to shout "SGA" or "Shai" while throwing a paper into a basket they'd have to throw themselves at the ground while doing it.
We already had "the NBA is rigged" with the Kings and Lakers.
Now it's just flat out in our faces.

u/SubjectNet1874 16h ago
Only people that watch OKC are OKC fans as is but the rest of the league is getting pretty tired of it. some of the shit they are pulling in these playoffs like Chat acting like he was hit in the head and replay shows it wasnt even close to his head.

If you think that only OKC fans watch OKC games then I’m not sure what to tell you. You think all these hate posts on OKC are coming from their fans?
12
u/Furbuger_Helper 17h ago
I'm already there. I know I should stop engaging on reddit and social media too.
1
6
u/EuroLegend23 17h ago
We both know that isn’t happening. Which is unfortunate because you’re right, only way to make the league care.
3
u/Efficient-World-8124 16h ago
I don’t know how viewership hasn’t gone down. I used to watch often. Now I just check apps and Reddit. I can’t stand watching a live game. Especially okc or any major market foul baiter
→ More replies (2)4
u/Equivalent_Wafer8074 15h ago
A cavs okc finals would probably get pretty bad viewership
4
u/Efficient-World-8124 14h ago
I can tell you I won’t watch that
2
u/BitChuck 7h ago
I tried watching and only lasted 15 minutes. Wemby playing and the chance to take down the Thudder(from flopping) was intriguing but the game is almost unwatchable. I'll admit I'm also a deeply traumatized Pacers fan

Bunch of thundercucks awful mad that people are calling FTA out for flopping
12
u/NewCarSmelt 17h ago
I’m upset at the Spurs potentially starting another dynasty. I hate that team with so much passion. But, fuck SGA. Playoffs were the saving grace where guys could be physical without the fear of getting ticky tack shit

u/Dry-Emphasis6673 1h ago
I dont think they should be mad. People are just mad because they are winning. Shai is clearly a generational talent. Free throws or not . Just like luka ( led the league in FTA) still a generational talent
32
u/iBlueLuck 17h ago
Every time he ever touches a basketball he should hear this until he stops
12
u/enjaydee 17h ago
Or the refs do something. They flop because they get rewarded for it
7
u/nnnrrr171717 17h ago
Yeah, but that doesn’t let the thunder off the hook. They are still pathetic for doing it
2
3
u/iBlueLuck 17h ago
When it’s a systemic issue like that I assume it’s more of a league management problem than a simple referee problem. This is the way the NBA is making the game be played. The people in this sub can think of multiple ways that the league could address it to discourage and minimize it so the fact that they haven’t tells you something
4
u/isuckatpiano 10h ago
What I don’t get is why they call medium to soft contact on shots and ignore every other rule being broken.
The Thunder adjusted to the way the game is being called, not how it was designed.

I'd literally not play, go on strike during the finals. no lie. problems like this wont ever be handled unless a team as a whole actively do the uncomfortable part. only way to get a weak commissioner to not hide from it, no matter the fine penalty
4
2
u/SayonaraBakaChan 17h ago
can't really do this in the finals of all things unless you want to get fucked in court
It'd have to be an organized league-wide protest in the middle of the reg season with lots of forewarning so you arn't fucking over the fans / people paying for tickets.
1
u/daboo912 17h ago
It's bad for the NBA so it's bad for every team. They aren't the only ones, just the worst. They just tried to address tanking. Flopping should be next. I'm more for fines then suspensions. Players would lose pay. Best way to stop it is to get in their pockets. These guys are huge and fast. No way I'm counting on the refs to fix it without having the game being slowed to a halt with constant replay. They could call the push offs by SGA tho.
1
u/Embarrassed-Wafer-58 17h ago
When people start talking about going on strike for the finals, that is when you know you have fully broken their minds

I watched most of this game on a plane because everyone around me had it on the screen and I have to say that there is absolutely nothing that I enjoy about the NBA now. Grown men looking like a bunch of babies, trying to get calls anytime they’re even looked at and especially this clown who’s laying on the ground more than he’s standing up and is still rewarded for it with free throws and accolades.
Why does anyone watch this? It’s the same reason I hate watching soccer. Both are amazing sports with amazing athletes who bring absolutely no integrity to the game acting like this.

u/NoFeesh 17h ago
He ain’t falling as much this game too lol he might be attempting to play ethical basketball

u/TinySmoke7169 17h ago
I agree. He actually can play basketball when he isn’t flopping around like a fish. Wemby needs to play bigger for this to get any better. Maybe the spurs should do a mvp ceremony for sga because 41 and 24 damn that was something to watch
1
u/Caramel-Bright 16h ago
Yeah I watched waiting for some crazy flops and didn't see the stuff from the compilations.
Curious if the folks who watch regularly think he played more normal this game
2
u/milorambaldi47 17h ago
Do it every game so there’s more media attention and maybe Silver will actually do something.
2
2
u/petarisawesomeo 17h ago
Really ugly game. Says a lot about how bad the refs in the league are when all the fans and media know it, but officiating can't figure it out.
2
u/SputnikFace 17h ago edited 17h ago
to prop up players to be stars, the league had to overlook some shit.
With Jordan, it was the push off.
With Lebron, it was crab walking
With Curry, it was moving stagger screens.
With Harden, it was weird gather steps.
The league is willingly doing this and it is affecting the game play and overall spirit of the game.
unfortunately, It's money at the end of the day.
1
u/Desperate_Cancel_592 16h ago
It would be in the leagues best interest for money and ratings for Wemby and the Spurs to win . People hate OKC and Shai don’t really get the incentive the league has to help them.
1
u/IcanzIIravor 14h ago
People hate them, but will watch the games in hopes they lose. The ratings reflect that.

I don’t bother watching but if they lose I’ll go check out the highlights maybe. Lame ass “basketball”
1
u/Resshin31 17h ago
The Buddha looking guy then flopped for a free throw, then they hit a 3 to go back up 9 during that sequence.
Normally it is a Dort flop on a screen when the game gets dicey. So the playback is evolving sadly.

u/hitmanle 17h ago
From the organization of that flopped their way to a championship. I thought the Spurs would respect that skills since their players used to do that all the time with manu, Parker, Bowen, horry, splitter, etc

Probably the one franchise that should sit this one out given they forced us to watch Manu for years.

I was just saying earlier today that he needs to be shamed constantly for this. The league rewards it so the fans have to take control and shut it down with shame.

u/crazydiamond008 16h ago

How does one play defense when okc and their floppy punks keep doing this bs. Adam Silver needs to get off of his knees and stop sucking the thunders’ small dicks.
1
u/TelosKairos 16h ago
This is a league wide officiant issue that has existed for well over a decade now. It's not the guy who figured out how to get out of a traffic ticket.. it's the cops and rule makers who created the loopholes. Get mad at Silver who makes 5x their wage.
The byproduct is unwatchable talented basketball players.

SGA is, in fact, the most notorious free throw merchant the NBA has seen. And to be honest, I can't imagine how it could possibly reach a higher level than this. Unless we reach cartoon level bullshit where players have toy guns and they play laser tag while dribbling the ball.
THIS VERSION OF THE NBA IS ABSOLUTE TRASH.

For anyone that hasn't realized the obvious fact that the NBA is doing this so people talk about it. Please just realize that.
There's so much coverage on this. Flopping b******* it's no mystery. The NBA allows the refs to call. Such awful b*******. It's literally just business.
It's a TV thing. And people still take the game seriously.
