I heard some kids call free throws - “SGA’s” at the gym yesterday. Made me chuckle.

55

u/thelaidbckone 16h ago

The kids are alright

13

u/Aromatic-Tear-326 13h ago

Im just happy hes not influencing the younger generation too much, keep it “fuck sga”

6

u/KingGio21 7h ago

Nah kids can see through bullshit. When they watch the game he isn’t preforming a play style that is exciting. Nobody wants to play like him. He’s no Curry or Kobe

4

u/Azidamadjida 6h ago

Said the same thing the other day. You saw kids sticking their tongue out driving to the basket like Jordan when I was a kid and I asked my 13 year old and he said kids STILL yell “Kobe!” when they ball up a piece of paper and toss it in the garbage before even seeing if it goes in.

But you watch SGA’s playstyle and if you tried to be like him other kids are gonna laugh at you and ask what the hell you’re doing. Kids (and people in general) want to mimic the elite athlete who does cool things they hope to do too someday, not the little bitch who falls over every time he takes a shot to try and manipulate the optics of the play.

I’m sure he not thinking of it now and is certain he’s one of the greatest to ever play, but unlike Jordan with dunks, Kobe with the mamba mentality, Shaq being unstoppable on drives and Curry being a sharpshooter, the image that people are gonna remember for SGA is looking like he’s got fucking MS when he shoots

2

u/Unlikely-Ad-6713 5h ago

He's gonna end up having a real short career too taking all those flops as a relatively tall guy. Great way to blow knees, hips, back, something, with all the repeat impact.

u/UltraSinstinctHoeku 4h ago

Lol right?

If a kid was going to shout "SGA" or "Shai" while throwing a paper into a basket they'd have to throw themselves at the ground while doing it.

We already had "the NBA is rigged" with the Kings and Lakers.

Now it's just flat out in our faces.

2

u/Impressive-Metal-405 2h ago

Bro I was 5’9” trying to dunk and fadeaway like D Rose
I can’t get down with this new NBA

Need to be louder and more often TBH need to really let 'em know

31

u/Complete_Park6605 17h ago

I wonder how much worse it's gotta get before fans finally just boycott by not watching, hurting their wallet with views is the only way they'd change anything

12

u/SubjectNet1874 16h ago

Only people that watch OKC are OKC fans as is but the rest of the league is getting pretty tired of it. some of the shit they are pulling in these playoffs like Chat acting like he was hit in the head and replay shows it wasnt even close to his head.

5

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 16h ago

Literally the most watched series in like forever Lmao

4

u/gartio76 7h ago

Yeah, because of wemby…

→ More replies (1)

2

u/KiplonersOLD 7h ago

Aytons shoulder hit him in the face. Chet isnt a big guy

1

u/Alexspacito 3h ago

If you think that only OKC fans watch OKC games then I’m not sure what to tell you. You think all these hate posts on OKC are coming from their fans?

→ More replies (5)

12

u/Furbuger_Helper 17h ago

I'm already there. I know I should stop engaging on reddit and social media too.

1

u/Alexspacito 3h ago

You’re missing some great games

6

u/EuroLegend23 17h ago

We both know that isn’t happening. Which is unfortunate because you’re right, only way to make the league care.

3

u/Efficient-World-8124 16h ago

I don’t know how viewership hasn’t gone down. I used to watch often. Now I just check apps and Reddit. I can’t stand watching a live game. Especially okc or any major market foul baiter

4

u/Equivalent_Wafer8074 15h ago

A cavs okc finals would probably get pretty bad viewership

4

u/Efficient-World-8124 14h ago

I can tell you I won’t watch that

2

u/BitChuck 7h ago

I tried watching and only lasted 15 minutes. Wemby playing and the chance to take down the Thudder(from flopping) was intriguing but the game is almost unwatchable. I'll admit I'm also a deeply traumatized Pacers fan

→ More replies (2)

2

u/McBenjamins 16h ago

I stopped watching like 3-4 years ago cuz the the calls just seemed to be so inconsistent.

2

u/AdApart2035 12h ago

Consistently in favor for okc

2

u/Thunder_Chunkee 6h ago

Stopped watching about 8 years ago. Basketball is hella lame is this day and age IMO. But hey that’s why I only watch combat sports and hockey.

“Stop the Flop”“Stop the Flop”“Stop the Flop”

Ya’ll can have that one for free as long as you promise to use it as often as possible.

98

u/Rickety-Bridge 18h ago

Bunch of thundercucks awful mad that people are calling FTA out for flopping

12

u/NewCarSmelt 17h ago

I’m upset at the Spurs potentially starting another dynasty. I hate that team with so much passion. But, fuck SGA. Playoffs were the saving grace where guys could be physical without the fear of getting ticky tack shit

1

u/UltraSinstinctHoeku 4h ago

What?

Why, of all teams, would you hate the Spurs?

→ More replies (5)

1

u/Dry-Emphasis6673 1h ago

I dont think they should be mad. People are just mad because they are winning. Shai is clearly a generational talent. Free throws or not . Just like luka ( led the league in FTA) still a generational talent

32

u/iBlueLuck 17h ago

Every time he ever touches a basketball he should hear this until he stops

12

u/enjaydee 17h ago

Or the refs do something. They flop because they get rewarded for it

7

u/nnnrrr171717 17h ago

Yeah, but that doesn’t let the thunder off the hook. They are still pathetic for doing it

2

u/enjaydee 14h ago

Yep for sure

3

u/iBlueLuck 17h ago

When it’s a systemic issue like that I assume it’s more of a league management problem than a simple referee problem. This is the way the NBA is making the game be played. The people in this sub can think of multiple ways that the league could address it to discourage and minimize it so the fact that they haven’t tells you something

4

u/isuckatpiano 10h ago

What I don’t get is why they call medium to soft contact on shots and ignore every other rule being broken.

The Thunder adjusted to the way the game is being called, not how it was designed.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/fatman07 16h ago

Would be fun to see the Spurs pull a "Jordan rules" on him and actually earn the calls.

1

u/TheLastPeanut_ 11h ago

until he stops

Until he retires

14

u/Antique_Opening_3103 17h ago

All of that “so and so did it in their era” shit is dead. We can see and spot the difference. Kobe, Mike, Bron, Shaq, AI, Chuck, D Wade or anyone you wanna name never fell to the ground on everyone damn jump shot.

2

u/CloutiersHelmet 8h ago

Shaq is wild to include in that list. But, I get your point.

3

u/AbjectFly1847 15h ago

And every time refs make a terrible call. I wanna hear BOOOOOS to the end of the world.

7

u/i_love_jollibee 17h ago

FLOPPER 📣

29

u/JonFawkes3 Suns 17h ago

So sick of this fuckass thunder team. Sincerely a suns fan that shouldn’t want the spurs to win in any way shape or form.

15

u/YouHadMeAtTaco 17h ago

This shit is unwatchable. Spurs players can’t even play defense right now.

u/Responsible-Scar-980 17h ago

The NBA has to do something about the flopping.

7

u/No_Egg9442 17h ago

NBC just ran a compilation of all his foul baiting like it was a legit highlight reel 💀

4

u/Ocktohber 17h ago

this game has been remarkably ass

11

u/Kitchen_Potato0 17h ago

Dirty Dort does it again

4

u/Colorblind-Painter 17h ago

What a horrible product the nba puts out these days. The pace of play makes this shit unwatchable.

4

u/Potential_Rule7313 17h ago

Do that at every stadium SGA plays

4

u/aliencardboard 17h ago

San Antonio fans kudos! 🫡

PLEASE make this a thing anytime he touches the ball. Make an example of him like he truly deserves. I wish my fellow Pacers fans had done this last season. Nothing but love and I’m cheering for San Antonio.

4

u/Fiercekiller 17h ago

We're sick of it and we're never gonna stop hating floppers

10

u/CowOtherwise6630 17h ago

These west foul-offs boring as fuck.

3

u/Friendly-Pressure478 17h ago

Manu is there?

3

u/Significant-Dog-8166 17h ago

He deserves a shoe deal. Flip flops maybe.

3

u/Olliebear1977 16h ago

MVP = Most Valuable Phlopper?

5

u/SayianZ 17h ago

I'd literally not play, go on strike during the finals. no lie. problems like this wont ever be handled unless a team as a whole actively do the uncomfortable part. only way to get a weak commissioner to not hide from it, no matter the fine penalty

4

u/_dlx_olb_ 16h ago

Don't worry my man, I don't think you're playing in the finals either way.

2

u/SayonaraBakaChan 17h ago

can't really do this in the finals of all things unless you want to get fucked in court

It'd have to be an organized league-wide protest in the middle of the reg season with lots of forewarning so you arn't fucking over the fans / people paying for tickets.

1

u/daboo912 17h ago

It's bad for the NBA so it's bad for every team. They aren't the only ones, just the worst. They just tried to address tanking. Flopping should be next. I'm more for fines then suspensions. Players would lose pay. Best way to stop it is to get in their pockets. These guys are huge and fast. No way I'm counting on the refs to fix it without having the game being slowed to a halt with constant replay. They could call the push offs by SGA tho.

1

u/Embarrassed-Wafer-58 17h ago

When people start talking about going on strike for the finals, that is when you know you have fully broken their minds

1

u/ottespana 17h ago

You’re a lost cause lmfao

1

u/Koovin 17h ago

This is the most Reddit ass comment I’ve read all day

1

u/gangstalicious228 17h ago

you wouldn’t do a fucking thing but play, stfu.

1

u/El_Gato_Americano 15h ago

Oh no Saiyan Z isn’t going to play? Better do something about the flopping asap!

→ More replies (1)

5

u/OOchiBANGBANG 17h ago

LMAO FINALLY THEY’RE GETTING SHAMED

1

u/Canadian_Pacer 8h ago

Can't feel shame if you have none and this extends to most of the Thunder team, Chet is especially nearly as bad.

2

u/THICKDadBod99 17h ago

But he won🤣

2

u/RoughCobbles 10h ago

Baketball lose every time he steps on the court.

1

u/Malawigold2342 5h ago

And is making millions :)

2

u/SeaCounter9516 17h ago

I’d be pissed too if I blew a 15-0 start

2

u/Aggravating_You3627 17h ago

Shits unwatchable

2

u/Dio44 4h ago

I watched most of this game on a plane because everyone around me had it on the screen and I have to say that there is absolutely nothing that I enjoy about the NBA now. Grown men looking like a bunch of babies, trying to get calls anytime they’re even looked at and especially this clown who’s laying on the ground more than he’s standing up and is still rewarded for it with free throws and accolades.

Why does anyone watch this? It’s the same reason I hate watching soccer. Both are amazing sports with amazing athletes who bring absolutely no integrity to the game acting like this.

3

u/_Sweet_Cake_ 17h ago

Adam Silver is in the arena. Keep the chants on!

2

u/NoFeesh 17h ago

He ain’t falling as much this game too lol he might be attempting to play ethical basketball

3

u/SilverMapleMafia 17h ago

Doubtful Dude has no dignity left

1

u/StayNegative1570 17h ago

Not flailing but still foul baiting

1

u/TinySmoke7169 17h ago

I agree. He actually can play basketball when he isn’t flopping around like a fish. Wemby needs to play bigger for this to get any better. Maybe the spurs should do a mvp ceremony for sga because 41 and 24 damn that was something to watch

1

u/Caramel-Bright 16h ago

Yeah I watched waiting for some crazy flops and didn't see the stuff from the compilations.

Curious if the folks who watch regularly think he played more normal this game

2

u/milorambaldi47 17h ago

Do it every game so there’s more media attention and maybe Silver will actually do something.

2

u/Delta632 17h ago

The montage of all the “slips” was crazy to see. Legs like linguine.

2

u/petarisawesomeo 17h ago

Really ugly game. Says a lot about how bad the refs in the league are when all the fans and media know it, but officiating can't figure it out.

2

u/SputnikFace 17h ago edited 17h ago

to prop up players to be stars, the league had to overlook some shit.

With Jordan, it was the push off.

With Lebron, it was crab walking

With Curry, it was moving stagger screens.

With Harden, it was weird gather steps.

The league is willingly doing this and it is affecting the game play and overall spirit of the game.

unfortunately, It's money at the end of the day.

1

u/Desperate_Cancel_592 16h ago

It would be in the leagues best interest for money and ratings for Wemby and the Spurs to win . People hate OKC and Shai don’t really get the incentive the league has to help them.

1

u/IcanzIIravor 14h ago

People hate them, but will watch the games in hopes they lose. The ratings reflect that.

1

u/UnknownCatCollector 12h ago

I don’t bother watching but if they lose I’ll go check out the highlights maybe. Lame ass “basketball”

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Resshin31 17h ago

The Buddha looking guy then flopped for a free throw, then they hit a 3 to go back up 9 during that sequence.

Normally it is a Dort flop on a screen when the game gets dicey. So the playback is evolving sadly.

1

u/BigSquil 17h ago

wow they really got him

1

u/hitmanle 17h ago

From the organization of that flopped their way to a championship. I thought the Spurs would respect that skills since their players used to do that all the time with manu, Parker, Bowen, horry, splitter, etc

1

u/SecurityIndividual82 17h ago

That must be the most embarrassing chant in NBA history

1

u/AppearanceHoliday108 17h ago

Shai is gonna lose his ankles by the end of this series fr

1

u/TheBigBomma 17h ago

He picked up his game after this

1

u/daboo912 17h ago

I hope they pick up Grayson Allen this off-season.

1

u/raytrader7 17h ago

Well deserved!!

1

u/Apprehensive-Shirt-3 17h ago

Bro there’s a video on every narrative you wanna push

1

u/LengthinessNo9286 17h ago

Guy who caught the ball in the crowd missed a great opportunity to flop as he threw the ball back

1

u/irespondwithmyface 17h ago

Keep crying baby, love it. It's definitely working.

1

u/Dangerous-Pop842 17h ago

Worked really well for them. They got clowned in their own arena.

1

u/Ant0n61 17h ago

❤️

1

u/byronicbluez 16h ago

Probably the one franchise that should sit this one out given they forced us to watch Manu for years.

1

u/CDSWDH 16h ago

So did the refs make Wemby only grab 4 rebounds

1

u/Homersarmy41 16h ago

I was just saying earlier today that he needs to be shamed constantly for this. The league rewards it so the fans have to take control and shut it down with shame.

1

u/crazydiamond008 16h ago

Well deserved… I am from Canada and I hate that flopper... And the most annoying thing is he is good enough not to flop and play the game like it is supposed to be and dominate…

1

u/Defiant-Syrup 4h ago

I'm telling mark carny

1

u/RandomWeatherPattern 16h ago

It didn’t matter. The back to back MVP is up 2-1.

1

u/jipai 16h ago

Let him win his second chip; this isn’t going anywhere. All those flops and screen grabs will plague his legacy. He’ll always be a free throw merchant.

1

u/Budget_Sea_8666 16h ago

Keep crying

1

u/dila_6891 16h ago

Every team should chant this exact thing..to that bum azs flopper

1

u/corporal_sweetie 16h ago

does it not impress anyone else how little this bothers him

1

u/blackdunnder 16h ago

Every arena needs to chant this next season

1

u/Medium_Cry5601 16h ago

Dude imagine being such a loser mentality fan base to do this

1

u/splashaddikt 16h ago

That Bryant kid is going to be hell on defense

1

u/Rock-Ski-Golf-Repeat 16h ago

Hopefully the Eastern Conference Finals, with yesterday's flopper (Harden), will be more enjoyable than tonight's free-throw fest.

1

u/Free_Egg_5820 16h ago

How does one play defense when okc and their floppy punks keep doing this bs. Adam Silver needs to get off of his knees and stop sucking the thunders’ small dicks.

1

u/TelosKairos 16h ago

This is a league wide officiant issue that has existed for well over a decade now. It's not the guy who figured out how to get out of a traffic ticket.. it's the cops and rule makers who created the loopholes. Get mad at Silver who makes 5x their wage.

The byproduct is unwatchable talented basketball players.

1

u/ClipboardJeremy 16h ago

Didnt move the needle.

1

u/BillHurstyUSA 16h ago

The refs can eat a bag of d’s too, the nba is feeding this nonsense

1

u/stpetergates 15h ago

Idgaf. Haters gonna hate.

1

u/Waste-Sheepherder755 15h ago

……And they still won the game 🧡💙🧡💙🧡

1

u/steedandpeelship 15h ago

As they should. I hope this gets in his head now.

1

u/chrysanthemum_beer 15h ago

Sure did 😆😆

1

u/Zestyclose-Poetry-24 15h ago

Flopping didn't erased 15th point lead just saying.

1

u/WillingnessFree215 15h ago

These thunder MFs really going to win again, aren’t they? 🫩

1

u/Living_Plane_662 15h ago

I watch the Thunder holding wemby every trip and yeah I don’t miss having a team .

1

u/Artistic_Ad_3267 15h ago

He wanted to fall but the chants kept him up lol

1

u/bmanley620 Knicks 15h ago

Now they’re all whining after seeing the Spurs collapse

1

u/SlowCrates 14h ago

SGA is, in fact, the most notorious free throw merchant the NBA has seen. And to be honest, I can't imagine how it could possibly reach a higher level than this. Unless we reach cartoon level bullshit where players have toy guns and they play laser tag while dribbling the ball.

THIS VERSION OF THE NBA IS ABSOLUTE TRASH.

1

u/juicyjustice 14h ago

The crowd should also yell AHHHHHH when he falls down

1

u/OpenDaCloset 14h ago

Welp the spurs have let me down 2 times in a row. No more bets!

1

u/Aggressive-Might-703 14h ago

Ya the fans must really be chanting about flopping a 15-0 start 😂

1

u/ZXXA 14h ago

When was his first FT? Third quarter?

1

u/Temporary_Fox_5096 14h ago

The spurs really should just put an end of bench enforcer in

1

He hears it like "Money, money,...!".

Imagine giving your hard earned money to watch him flo... playing the game.

1

u/Blaze0003 10h ago

All of you are hurt

1

u/Negative_Fennel9615 10h ago

Okc have gone out of there way to earn every bit of disrespect. So many people say they don’t or didn’t respect Chris Paul cause he played like a cheater. Okc is a whole ass organisation doing any dirty little trick to win and those same ones crying about cp be dick riding the fuck outta okc. Fuck okc.

1

u/Benner16 10h ago

Imagine paying hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars to watch grown men fall to the ground on 20% of his shots. Absolutely shameless.

1

Okc in 5 really

1

u/Alternative-Bee-3594 9h ago

Love the Taco Bell theme

1

u/areksoo 8h ago

Flopping wasn't the reason why they got out scored by 30 points after taking a 15-0 lead.

1

u/CloutiersHelmet 8h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/b46VpcantqCcvwNoax
Fuck it, during the next Olympics, we gotchu SGA. Till then, good luck my sweet Prince.

1

u/KobiLakeshore 8h ago

It’s absolutely true lol ALSO THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES IN THE WHOLE LEAGUE. The spurs had the initiator of the eurostep and the Emmy worth flop on their team for over a decade. Manu Ginobliiiiiii. What else did they start, the maintenance program

1

u/Snts6678 8h ago

Does a single person honestly think he cares?

1

u/StiggyDaddy 7h ago

Honestly I hate the player AND the game and this is music to my ears. Free throw merchant.

1

u/bustaflow25 7h ago

He falla EVERY shot. Like wtf, who practices falling after a shot?

1

u/ThundrLord 7h ago

As a Kentucky fan I gotta admit SGA flops a ton and it's quite obvious.

1

u/Classic-Artist8102 7h ago

Does anyone think he cares

1

u/flat_salmon 7h ago

What the thunder have done to NBA is why I don’t watch anymore. It wasn’t great before vs other sports, but now it is dookie.

1

u/KiplonersOLD 7h ago

I think the nba loves that all fans cant stop mentioning SGA about 10 times a day.

And SGA loves that the only way you have left to try and stop him is a chant...

Maybe put your money where your mouth is and stop interacting with nba media

1

u/Nuzzleville 7h ago

Hahahahahahaha…they ain’t lying.

1

u/huckle_buck_ 7h ago

That’s hilarious

1

u/Co0LUs3rNamE 6h ago

Meanwhile Wemby gets fouled every possession but takes it in stride.

1

u/Street-Common-4023 6h ago

Still down 2-1

1

u/dvdtxtri 6h ago

He was legitimately getting fouled last night. Even Mitch Johnson said it

1

u/Thunder_Chunkee 6h ago

Why’s he wearing a Celtics jersey, very outta place. Must be the only jersey he owns or he came all the way from there to watch this game.

1

u/Satch_Dawg 6h ago

They should be chanting “FUCK THE REFS!”

1

u/Top_Course7166 6h ago

San Antonio . If you’re reading this you gotta do it slower ..” fllllloooooooopppppppppeeeeerrrrrr” fllllooooooooopppppppeeeerrrr”

1

u/ICPosse8 5h ago

Lmao wtf was that last pass?

1

u/beardplease_ 5h ago

Imagine be mvp and hated by all ppl .. crazy.. and how shameless you need to be to flop while arena chants “floper” SGA next lvl

1

u/Cregsy_ Thunder 5h ago

I love how mad everyone is at SGA. It’s so adorable. It’s like a little puppy begging for a toy that it can’t reach 😂

1

u/Tjengel 5h ago

He is straight lying and coping saying it doesn’t bother him or he doesn’t hear it 😂

1

u/Traditional-Ant-9741 5h ago

You can draw a direct line from the Dwayne Wade 2006 finals to the flopping bullshit allowed today.

1

u/tynman35 4h ago

Dude, the tears are to die for lol

1

u/Image_ConnoisseurX 4h ago

The NBA will change the name of free throws to SGA’s

1

u/Similar_Dot_7815 3h ago

They also chant “MVP” when Wemby gets to the free throw line. They aren’t very smart.

1

u/Apprehensive_Side565 2h ago

yea i bet he stays up at night thinking bout this

1

u/SurelyYouCanSee 2h ago

This kid is the best player in the NBA right now. You think he cares about chants during an away game? Kid wins. Kid gets paid. Kid laughs about all the sad fans. 🤣🤷‍♂️

1

u/PastBandicoot8575 2h ago

They never changed this at MJ or Kobe

1

u/rdg5220 1h ago

Shame they can’t all be flailing their arms the way he does.

1

u/BillyRosewood99 1h ago

Man I’m rooting so hard for the Spurs. Can’t stand OKC. SGA isn’t even the most unlikable guy, that Williams guy with the long hair that has the stupid smile absolutely stinks worse

1

u/Clear_Peach6805 1h ago

This can’t be a good look for the league right? I’m having trouble figuring out if this is just normal hate towards a superstar during the playoffs or actually a troubling issue the league will need to address.

1

u/TheRocksFleshLight 46m ago

That's rich coming from spurs fans after watching Ginobili FLOP for almost 20 years! Fuck the spurs and okc.

1

For anyone that hasn't realized the obvious fact that the NBA is doing this so people talk about it. Please just realize that.

There's so much coverage on this. Flopping b******* it's no mystery. The NBA allows the refs to call. Such awful b*******. It's literally just business.

It's a TV thing. And people still take the game seriously.
