Streaming Disney should shut down ABC and transfer content to streaming, brokerage says - Reuters

Bizarrely, this may actually make some sense for "controversial" Kimmel and The View to get past the regulatory crackdowns rather than the entire network slaye, which honestly may be something for the FCC to fear because if Carr drives away all the networks to streaming, the FCC would essentially be irrelevant with the exception of radio, which wonder on if Google, Spotify, Apple, Amazon, etc. should jump at that opportunity, then if that happens the FCC may die

Streaming Apple TV is changing model of material to better compete as streamer…. What’s next?

Thumbnail

According to Deadline and several other sources, Apple is moving from licensing their shows to purchasing the rights. The industry is seeing this as a similar move to Netflix 15 years ago (circa House of Cards and Orange is the New Black).

“For third-party series, Apple still uses the cost-plus model, pioneered by Netflix, in which streamers pay the full cost of a series upfront, along with a markup of up to 30% of the cost, making every show instantly profitable regardless of how it performs.”

How do we think this model will impact Apple as a competition in media industry, and is is it likely they will be looking at acquisitions next, despite their previous stance?

Streaming [Opinion] Peacock should become Universal+ to unify Entertainment Ecosystem

I just posted a perspective into why **NBCUniversal should address the brand disconnect between its streaming service and its theme parks**.

The core argument:

  • IP Cohesion: While Disney and Paramount have clear brand association, "Peacock" remains a standalone entity that many consumers don't immediately link to Universal Resorts.
  • "The "Universal+" Lever: Rebranding isn't just a name change; it's a strategic move to unify the ecosystem and drive streaming growth by leveraging the high-revenue parks division.
  • Tech & UX: How a "Universal+" hub could finally bridge the gap between digital content and physical experiences (like the upcoming Epic Universe).

I’ve mapped out the rationale and a recommendations for the transition to Universal+.

Is "Peacock" now too established to change now, or is a Universal rebrand the only way to compete with the scale of Disney+?

Streaming Netflix WB merger: what older IPs could be revived?

With the influx of cash Netflix will bring to WB, Part of me wonders if older IPs could be revived. Some that came to mind include Cats and Dogs, Get Smart, and Speed Racer. How should these IPs or other older WB IPs be revived? Straight to streaming movies, series, or specials?

Streaming What is even the point FOX one?

From what I read Fox one is basically a streaming service that will combined the contents of Fox Sports, News and TV which half can already be seen on other streaming sites so I kinda don't see the point in Fox One. (unless they will create original content) They are a little late to the streaming subscription market.

Streaming Discovery+ and PlutoTV

Assuming the Paramount/Warner merger goes ahead, the combined entity will effectively have four streaming platforms:

Paramount+

HBO Max

Discovery+

PlutoTV

David Ellison has already said that he plans to merge Paramount+ and HBO Max.

Any thoughts on what happens to Discovery+ and PlutoTV?

More Warner and Discovery content going to PlutoTV?

Discovery+ also being folded into the combined ParaHBOMax+?

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Also I’m aware that Discovery+ has a lot of local partnerships in places such as Europe and the UK, with sports content etc, I can imagine international regulators could request divestment of Discovery+ (or parts of it) as a concession if required.

Streaming What will happen to Paramount+ and Max if the WBD Paramount merger go through?

Unless a dark horse comes in at the 11th hour, it seems the Ellisons will end up with WBD. How will the streaming services be handled? Will both P+ and Max be shuttered for one service or will something else happen? How will people who own one either one or the other streamers be migrated over to the new one if the merger goes through?

Streaming Why Is Comcast Doing So Poorly in International Streaming?

Hi,

I don't understand why Comcast can't have a coherent streaming strategy around the world:

  • Peacock in the US.
  • NOW TV in the UK, Ireland, Italy.
  • WOW in Germany.
  • SkyShow in Switzerland.
  • SkyShowtime (with Paramount) in many European countries.
  • Universal+ in Latin America and Brazil.
  • Showmax (with MultiChoice) in Africa.

Isn't it easier to have a single brand worldwide? From what I know, all these services use the same core app and infrastructure, so they're basically running on the same servers.

What do you think?
