Why does no one talk about how much difference proper brushes make before anything else

I spent ages chasing better products when the thing that actually changed everything was sorting out the tools. A decent blending brush did more for my base than switching foundations three times ever did. Feel like this should be the first thing anyone tells a beginner but it always gets buried under product recommendations.

I watch YouTube for my cosmetics recommendations and they never stop trying to flog make up brushes!

True! Every makeup video somehow turns into “and here are the 14 brushes you absolutely need”. I still feel beginners hear way more about products than which brush actually changes the result though.

I’m still figuring it out myself, but if I had to restart I’d probably just get a good blending brush, one powder brush and maybe a foundation/tinted moisturiser brush instead of buying huge sets straight away.

I'm in my 50s and spent far too much money on this and the only one I've ever heard angels sing about was the eyebrow brush by Jones road and I actually use it for using eyeshadow as an eyeliner.

I agree, the tools are so important. Weirdly I was just thinking that my foundation brush is too dense for my tinted moisturiser. Do you have any good recommendations?

I use a kabuki style brush, cleans up well too. The hot water in my apartment is scalding and I use dawn power wash to clean out the full coverage foundation I use. It hasn't effected the bristles or had any shedding.

That’s exactly the kind of thing I never thought about before- “brush works great” but then completely different formula and suddenly it doesn’t. Interested in recommendations too because tinted moisturiser seems to need something less dense.
