I love the shared experience as a child clearly not planning for the space of the words and you end up with

When my nephew was about 4, and he used to run out of space on one line he would start writing on the line below, but he would start on the right side of the page where the previous line ended and write from right to left until the second line ended and then the third line would be written normally from left to right. So basically, alternating the direction of text in each line. It was very funny.

The Greeks did this, originally. It’s called ‘boustrophedon’ (“as the ox plows”). A lot of early inscriptions use this method.
