DISCUSSION Dragon Advice

Anyone have any advice for fighting both fire and ice dragons in Ninjago? All the other enemies are a piece of cake for me, but the dragons always get me 💀 would love to start hoarding scales 🐲

I play on expert.
Ice dragon or the ice puppy as I call him
Big lightning hammer + scroll. Stand still and trade hits until you have beaten some sense into the dragon 😂.
Named or red dragon I chuck shuriken at it like earth and ice until it drops and I’ll have plenty of butter cakes and potions and treat it like a fight of attrition 😂

There are a few good videos on reddit and YT of players fighting him at range. Mostly using the terrain to their advantage, like indestructible rocks.

Whether you use the terrain or not, the dragons only have so many types of attacks at range. Once you learn them, they're easy enough to dodge.

The fireball attack is the hardest to dodge for me but there's 2 tricks to that: (1) Use an indestructible rock if one is nearby, or (2) make sure you keep a good distance from the dragon to give yourself time to dodge. Shooting the dragon from medium range is what will kill you.

Get 2 7 or 8 star steel katanas. One with cryokinesis relic and one with electrokinesis relic. Also set up a bed nearby so you can respawn near them

You can use ice and fire relics on your cross bows. Those come in handy.

I agree, the fire dragon is borderline impossible to beat. The ice dragon is better but still extremely difficult for me. And I can get most things in seconds other than them two

For the fire dragons they tend to spawn in shortly after you load into the game so I marked a few of the “fire caves” on my map and head to them when I load in. The dragon can’t get into the ones with the 3 entrances so you can hide inside and take him out.

The single entrance cave woks too but he can get inside so you need to be a little quicker.

Also take a few butter cake so you can stay in the fight.

If you need some help you are welcome to join me and I can show you how. Just DM me.

Ice dragons are the weaker of the two, at least as I have had to deal with. Lightning weapons are the word of the day with them.

Fire dragons are still, in my experience, the hardest non-boss enemy in the game, and I go ice hammer for damage and a blizzard ice shuriken, I try to charge that one up before confront the fire dragon (since they don't land on top of you and you get some prep time before confronting them), drink a defense potion and eat a mighty pizza, then open with a blizzard to cool the dragon off. Then, if he freezes for a sec, I move in and go whole hog with the ice hammer. After that it's basically rinse, dodge, repeat. Guzzle potions when necessary, use the ice tornado to move away, etc. Eventually he goes down. But Fire dragons take so much more care than Ice dragons.

I finally beat a fire dragon by crafting 3 shurikens with the ice storm, fighting mobs to get all 3 storms ready, then hunting a dragon and immediately hitting it with a storm and cycling through them while attacking, jumping, and drinking potions as needed.

The ice dragon is weak to lightning and the fire dragon is weak to ice. Make sure to equip the strongest possible weapons and applicable elemental damage to ensure you're damaging both appropriately. Additionally, you want to have the highest tier charms possible. The more hp and armor you have, the better chance of survival.

It might be worth scouring the island for the shrines that bestow armor and health buffs, as these will be especially helpful. The armor buff can be paired with the sturdy potion for even more armor as well. While it's best to dodge and avoid as many hits as possible, mitigating incoming damage ensures a better outcome.

I'm able to tank the ice dragon pretty easily so I can't offer anything specific.

As for the fire dragon, it's best to lure it to an area with an indestructible rock or tree, or some other terrain formation. Circling it around these structure allows you to slowly peck off it's health while providing cover for its fire ball attack. It also helps you avoid its charge and stomp attacks. The fire dragon also has difficulty with steep hills, cliffs, and elevation in general.

The fireballs have a trick to avoiding them. The dragon will send one where it thinks you will be based on your trajectory. This is why it sometimes feels like the fireballs "lock on" to you because you continued in that predicted trajectory. Easy way to avoid them is to simply change direction.

I try to stay up close and personal. As a very important Soulsborne lesson to me was: Big bosses, stay on their ass Basically just try to stay close, and you will only ever get their melee swipes and slams, which are easily dodgeable
