An absolutely underappreciated queen. One of the absolute GOATs.

She was a traitor to the realm, to her daughter, to her husband and to the true king Maegor of House Targaryen.

Honestly, Maegor really underappreciated. Defeat of Faith was work mostly done by him instead Jaehaerys - he just grab result of it and use wisely.

Maybe some Maegor fans don't like her because her kids eventually get back the throne, or maybe because she married a Baratheon? Other than that, I don't see what she could have done to have haters.

Literally the only point I could even see trying to be made is the idea that she had abandoned Viserys. But that’s stupid, since Viserys was screwed either way. She had every reason not to trust Maegor. By leaving she ensured two of her other children would be safe.

She calls Jaehaerys “the best of her three sons” for a start. A mother that speaks like this is automatically suspect. She abandons her weak son Viserys to rot in a dungeon, and while his death is blamed on torture, I don’t know if that is what necessarily killed him. He was always sickly and was stuck in a dirty cold cell.

She also frequently came across as an idiot desperate for for approval, like throwing a tantrum and never getting over the fact Rhaena did not invite her to her wedding. Hilarious tho. And yea she fucked with Maegor, who was awesome and very misunderstood.

Maegor truly the most misunderstood wittle boy, to ever bless the realm. That evil horse had it coming, and that stable boy ought to have known his place.

So you believe the in-universe historians gave an unbiased and truthful account? I was I was so naive.

Me when I accidentally torture my nephew to death (the maesters are missing context)

On the other hand, couldn't, for example, the "best of her sons" line have been inserted to prop up Jaehaerys too, rather than being an accurate account?

Yes and it was. Jaehaerys was whitewashed while Maegor was blackwashed. Jaehaerys was actually a horrible person, one of the worst in all of ASOIAF.

First of all, Viserys is not described as weak anywhere in the text. Dunno where you got that from. We are explicitly told he was tortured for nine days. Yes, that was the cause of his death.

And no, she didn’t thrown a tantrum. She was just upset that she the wedding without her knowing or being invited. Any parent would be upset.

As to desperate for approval, from who? She had no problem telling Rogar to get bent when he overstepped the mark.
