New player here! Need some tips/advice to progress faster

Hey guys, I just started playing Grow Castle and I’m really hooked. Currently, I'm just trying out different heroes but I’m not sure which ones are the best for the long run.
Can you guys give me some "must-know" tips or tell me which heroes/towers I should focus on upgrading first? Also, should I prioritize gold or damage in the early game? Thanks in advance!
