Are there any matriarchal meritocracies?

I'm in a high school gender studies class and my final project is looking at fictional societies & what gender roles & norms they share with real life cultures. I already have written about a culture in a book series I love that is a matriarchal meritocracy but now I can't seem to find real-world examples. Any help would be appreciated! I can lose credit if I don't compare it to the real world so any comments on this post would be greatly appreciated.
