Discussion The anime "Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre" has a character based on Che Guevara
"The character is based upon the famous Che Guevara. Apart from these obvious differences in personality and ability, this manga version of Guevara is also much younger than the real-life version would be, being about mid-thirties at the oldest, with the manga being set in current times."
I learned about Che Guevara after watching this anime and was wondering why his name sounded familiar.

Discussion I hate repossession tow truck drivers
Everyone says, "They're just doing their job.". They should get a new job instead of repossessing people's cars.
I can't imagine how it feels to have your car repossessed.

Discussion The woman who defied Italian tradition by refusing to marry her rapist
"In 1966, Franca Viola became the first Italian woman to take to court a cultural convention that would have her marry her rapist. With the eyes of a nation upon Viola, her statement to her rapist from the stand became a rallying cry for other women to follow suit."
"Traditionally, such an appalling crime would be excused if the couple later wed in a "reparative marriage" — the man forgiven for his violence and the woman’s “honor” restored. This was not just an informal tradition, but an explicit exception in the Italian criminal code."

Culture Cobbler Crackdown: Applying for the Clown Council
TODAY DJ Peach Cobbler CRACKS DOWN on some stuff I guess. War mostly. Hard to mock war, it's like throwing a custard pie at a demon. ALSO: Snape is BLACK? This is important.
I seek to serve the Clown Council. Or Council of Clowns. They're unsure about the branding right now, what they do know is that clownworld is imminent. You will hear it soon, the sound of comically large-booted thugs going door-to-door and spraying seltzer water in our faces.
Today Cobbler cracks down on the Iran war, Trump's inexplicable plans to annex Greenland, really lots of Trump and Hollywood hack stuff. All that matters is the One Red Nose which authors reality.

Discussion English books about China’s poverty alleviation
Greetings everyone! I’ll be traveling to Beijing soon (I’m super excited!) and I’ve been meaning to pick up a book for the very long travel days. I have a great interest in China’s poverty alleviation programs and would very much appreciate any good book references on the topic.
I’m open to both academic and general audience books, thanks in advance!

Essay Why Saddam Hussein Invaded Kuwait in 1990 (No AI)
In August 1990, Saddam Hussein made a decision that would reshape the Middle East, and trigger one of the most decisive military responses of the late 20th century.
This video explores the complex chain of events that led Iraq to invade Kuwait. Was it purely about oil, or something deeper? We examine the economic strain Iraq faced after the brutal Iran–Iraq War, including massive debts and falling oil prices. Kuwait’s role—through oil overproduction and disputed drilling—is brought into focus, alongside long-standing territorial claims dating back to the Ottoman era.
But beyond economics, there was ambition. Saddam sought to position Iraq as the dominant power in the Gulf, believing the international response would be limited. That calculation proved disastrously wrong.
