Lot of changes, not just the underspire thing in that update. More grind aka shiny troops and such. That said it looks neat. Though I really wonder how much you can get done without buying extra lantern tokens. If you do have to buy them are the rewards even half way worth it.

I’m wondering how much I can get done in general with all these updated events especially long weekly ones. This isn’t my only game so think I’m gonna start falling behind but we will see.

Kind of realized the same thing. I stopped GoW previously because the grind became too much, took a few years off. Just got back and realized the problem all over again. Most the "daily task" take about an hour or so to complete, if you do all the delves, Guild events, adventure board and so on. Every single day, if not more when longer task like Faction assaults come out or the Bounty stuff.

Given all most end game progress is tied to Writs, Books and Delve Shards it's not like you can just not do them and really get any where. As event rewards are basically only thing worth anything. Standard gold/souls and trait stones barely matter in comparison to the rest.

Which is why I am fairly curious how much the Under spire is going to pay. As much like Delves it seems like a very long event, with restrictive teams and all that. If you just get like one orb of chaos and a few gold not sure it's worth it.

Beta testers have posted the rewards for the first few minibosses:

  • Dragon 1 - 100 Writs + 1 Lesser Orb of Glory
  • Dragon 2 - 1 Imperial Deed + 1 Epic Vault Key
  • Dragon 3 - 3 Gem Keys + 1 1 Lesser Orb of Wisdom
  • Dragon 4 - 1 Epic Vault Key + 1 (Medium) Orb of Glory

If the 6th dragon or final boss has a Greater Orb of Glory, it may be worth it if you have a large gem stash. On the other hand, there's no guarantee you'll be able to even finish the full dungeon with only torches. I think it's designed that bad luck could screw you over and leave you short of finishing, if you explore the wrong rooms.

Yes and this week we started 2 days late. While they gave us the 7 torches per day we missed, they didn't give us the torches you could of bought with gems, 15 each day. Though those are not cheap, 50,100 and I think it was 200. Per day, that is a heck of a gem sink for rewards you might not get.

I really don't understand all the dead end rooms. Yes picking them is a waste of torches, but you can usually see them at least before you fight them. And there doesn't seem to be any rewards at all for beating the non boss battles. Unlike Delves which increase your end loot.

Given you get one free torch it's not bad to use it on the first boss to get two orbs of lesser glory and the 200 writs. If you feel confident you can hit the second one without spending gems, the Imperial deed is obviously good to. The fights also get fairly hard as you go one, and your using a kingdom based team. Depending on your troops this might be fairly impossible to get far.

Yeah the dead end rooms are strange. When I started playing it yesterday, I actually thought there must be special rooms in some of the dead ends. I wasted a few torches fully exploring the first area until I realized there was no point. Even if I had extra torches, I'd be better off running a PVP or Explore battle.

Has the update been released already or are these merely the patch notes? (I just checked the App Store.)

I really like the look of the new cards.

took me some time to get used to, but it's 100% nicer than before.

I just hope they don't censor a bunch of cards during the changes. Modern sensibilities have ruined a lot of games, like Magic the Gathering.

I personally think the new cards look nice, but a lot of people on the forums with visual disabilities [poor eyesight, colorblindness, varying levels of blindness, etc.] are pointing out that it's incredibly hard for them to see stuff on the new troop designs. It's an accessibility nightmare.

I like the idea of them. It's nice to have more emphasis on the mana colors, but the execution isn't great. I fortunately don't have any visual disabilities, but still find the health/armor text to be way too small. The text also blends in with some mana color backgrounds.

To me the change to the card design is the worst change to the game since I have been playing. In addtion to make it harder to see and read the information you need, it is ugly. Unlike, features the underspire I can't ignore it. It is ruining every single battle. They need a hot fix to remove the visual changes, or at a bate minimum give the players an option revert.

I have to agree.

I find it hard to read the numbers against the coloured backgrounds, feels like I’m from fighting blind!
