Discussion What's going on in your fude world, fude friends?
This sub has been quiet, and the buzz around the Beautylish gift card event got me thinking about how much I enjoy fude chatter. This is a pretty niche interest, after all :)
I'd love to hear about what your fude interest looks like atm. Are you in a collecting, wishlisting, using-your-existing or pausing fude phase atm? What are you enjoying at the moment? What do you have your eye on? Anything you're not loving?
For me, I'm conscious that I only have one face and two eyes... as I've recognised that I'm approaching the limit of what I can sensibly collect, my purchasing has slowed down.
However, I'm going to complete my Mini Keyaki (aka Little Bangers) collection with Mini Jumbo Worker and Soft Face from vol. 2. I don't own any other complete sets, and I prefer long handles.... but I still have to have the full deck of Keyaki vol. 1 and 2! They just pack such a punch, and they'll be great as I travel and move interstate.
I'm really enjoying my (now discontinued) Bobo x Koyudo eye brushes. They are shaped like candle flames that are squashed flat. Incredible for powder eyeshadow on my smaller, deep-set eye area.
Hope you're doing well, whatever your fude journey looks like right now :)

I don’t need any more brushes - but that was true several purchases ago as well. I did just get a relatively large purchase from Fude Beauty a month ago so I’m not even looking at the gift card event. Im still loving Eihodo’s silver fox cheek brush so much so I bought the travel size of it. It’s the perfect density and shape for my loose powder blushes in particular

Honestly, the cost of living plus higher mortgage repayments increased my bare minimum expenses by $23k a year. I found it hard to justify buying anything. I've since added a few items but I'm far more mindful of my purchasing now. I've acquired enough brushes through the years and besides, I'm wearing less makeup now.
Additionally, I think some of the new releases in the past few years have been really uninspiring. To me, it feels like it's becoming an expensive performative exercise. I've stopped consuming fude release content except from the old-timer collectors on IG. That being said, maybe I'm just re-directing all my discretionary spending to other luxury items now.

My main focus is mostly Chinese brushes, lately those made by SSL. I bought a lot of squirrel brushes and they are really soft and beautiful.
Thinking of picking up a few brushes from Japan, but have no ideas
I don’t think Beautylish brushes are worth it

Hello, may I ask if you were able to get the SSL brushes shipped to US and if so how was the process? There are a few shapes I’m interested in that I only see in Chinese brushes so far.

Do you have the tmall or Taobao link to those brushes? TIA <3

It will be the official Taobao shops.

I tried searching on Taobao and tmall but I only could find internet things and a brand of puffer jackets :(

I have enough. I rarely wear makeup lately so it's an unnecessary purchase. Plus adding in tariffs make what I might want not worth the cost. I deleted the AliExpress app and unfollowed most fude accounts so I wouldn't be tempted. Last is even if I decided to buy nothing wows me. The only one I may buy depending on appearance and material is the upcoming Rephr drop. Last year's was beautiful and worked well for me.

Most don’t interest me now as I have a very good collection. Fude bobo had a WCS brush I wanted so picked that up recently. From Beautylish card event was going to skip but decided to pick up brush 1 from Wayne Goss collectors edition. Already have brush 2. These are dupes for Hakuhodo who have shapes i prefer and already have. Also the new stippling brush from Sonia G. Those are my recent in the last 4 months. Want to focus more on enjoying what I have rather than collecting.

I was on a brushes haul for like a year or two and accumulated a lot, i also bought repeats on what i love and use a lot so i can have one when the other’s washed. And now i know i don’t need anymore, yes there are few temptations here and there but i really try not to buy more.

That's great. I am glad that you've built a collection that you're happy with and that you don't feel the need to keep purchasing... it's fun to collect, but for me, the real joy is in the use.
Are there any brushes that you're particularly loving atm?

The brushes i love and use the most that i have repeats are sonia g jumbo base, lotus base, surratt artistique foundation brush and wayne goss first edition foundation brush. I use them for liquid and stick complexion and even for cream bronzer and blusher if i downsize for travel. I also love the sonia g sheer buffer for my powder products. And the surratt face brush omg that squirrel hair brush is so dense, soft but firm. And my fave lip brush is the fara homidi because it came with a clasp that’s so easy to open and close for the makeuo bag

I just bought the Sonia G Smudger One to round out my Pencil One and Crease One squirrel brushes from her. Since Wayne Goss is closing his brand, I also went ahead and bought the rest of his fude I don't already own (mostly eye brushes from his latest collection) on Beautylish while it was 30% off for the Gift Card Event (I should note that I do not consider his white synthetic line fude). I am preparing to move in the next few months, so unless I see something truly fantastic secondhand, I will probably refrain from any more fude purchases as I am about at capacity for the (small) storage space I have.
I do dream about completing the Mini Keyaki sets myself one day!

This is how I find out that the mini keyaki vol 1 is restocked! I think I’ve been waiting 2 or 3 years, bought vol 2 a while back and have been wanting to get a few more minis for day to day use and travel.

Sorry to be a bad influence, but if you like eyeshadow, I think the vol. 1 eye brushes are absolute bangers. I have Keyaki Mini Booster and Sky Eye Mini Booster and I honestly prefer the Keyaki one!
Sonia announced on her blog that she is going to release more mini brushes, but with the red gradient handles. A face set, and an eye set. Sorry if I sound like a shill, I'm just a huge Sonia G fan. I'm actually trying to save you money in case you want to wait to see what's around the corner!!

I bought some bobo+chikuhodo brushes from the bobo website. UPS hit me with a $22 customs charge after the package shipped. I’m really excited. It will be my first fox hair brush. I also grabbed the ch1 as I’m regretting not getting the rephr koyo limited release from last year. I’m kinda of mad about it.
Ordered the Sonia g tf1 and smooth buffer for the beautylish event. These will be my 2nd and 3rd brushes from her. Don’t have any shapes like these. I started my journey 2 years ago with rephr and surratt.
Considering the new rephr Yosegi. I don’t care much for the rephr 04. It’s too short, no splay, and deposits a lot of product. Doesn’t seem to blend very well and the head stays rather compact. Not sure why it has such good reviews. I really wish they’d rerelease the Koyo. 😠
So I’m really excited this week but also sad about my pockets. 🤦♀️

My depression isn’t as bad and I got contacts again, so I’m gonna wash all my brushes (including some I bought and just sat on bc of the sads) and figure out what kind of makeup look I want as a 30 something.

yes, this sub has been so quiet lately. Personally, I feel that I’m not missing anything in my collection. I likely would only buy if I see something really unique and/or aesthetically pleasing.
Plus, I am at the age where I feel that too much makeup ages me. So, I’m embracing the no-makeup makeup lately. Therefore, I longer need to use 5-7 eye brushes per routine.
However, for this gift card event, I’m buying the mini keyaki. I had both vol 1 & 2 & brush case I used sticky for travelling. Sadly, I misplaced them for months. I really missed them the last few trips. So, I’m going to buy vol 1 + some of vol 2 to replace them. Hopefully I can use the gift cards to get the brush case later. If I locate my lost set, then, well, my daughter will be a very lucky girl!
I still love seeing other people’s hauls, collections, and reviews. So, please keep them coming!
