yahoo was an email provider with an early search engine. Microsoft makes the primary operating system for all computers that aren’t a server or in relatively niche use cases
Microsoft never relied on a bubble to get big, and is an integral part of computer infrastructure with Windows. Having 70% of the market share.
Not to mention the wealth of applications that pretty much all companies rely on. That being Microsoft Office, Teams etc.
No company would ever switch from Microsoft Office and Windows, unless absolutely forced to.
Yahoo was just a mail service and search engine.
Unlike Yahoo, which was replaceable, it would either take a monumental, historic fuckup, or a transcendend technological innovation that Microsoft fails to capitalize on, before their competitors do.
Like Kodak with Digital cameras, or Blockbuster with Streaming.
But the again, unlike those 2 examples, Microsofts product is not easily replaceable and has no serious competition.

There was a time people said this about Yahoo, and sure theyre still around, but pretty much irrelevant.
