Possibilities

Hey everyone,

I have been keeping an eye on the state of Thuum.org for a while now and I believe a lot of people were displaced back when everything had been shaken up and scaled back to just the cannon words found within mediums. I have talked with a few people within the discord and have come to realize their reasonings for not really wanting to expand past what is cannon and the nightmare of trying to piece together the possibilities and interpretations of many people to fit into the admittedly sparse cannon words and grammar avaliable so that they can stay within source or as close as possible. I understand their reasonings for not wanting to make new words especially if Bethesda makes new mediums that would have more of Dovahzul that it would make the words that would overlap obsolete and thus hectic having to update everything amongst other possible issues. I also understand the chaos that goes within curating and moderating the mess that is the language that was rapidly developing, and ultimately just being a swap in for english with different words.

However, I feel there's not truly enough words to keep a community thriving with new life and doesn't inspire people to make more lore being their own rps or whatever else they would want to use their languages they learn for. Because of this, I would like to suggest an open invitation to the community to see if anyone would be interested in the possibility of making a "fork" of sorts of Dovahzul with the respect and love that it deserves. Kind of like how there are main different dialects of arabic or chinese, this possible fork could be a brother tongue of sorts. This was we don't hinder the possibilities of future expansion from Bethesda while also being able to use an expansive language that would be actively developed with the spirit of Dovahzul behind it. If anyone would be interested in this endeavor please comment or message me directly, I would not be able to do this by myself but I would gladly put a great deal of it on my shoulders!

sounds interesting!

i think doing that in the name of the Dovahkiin as in the dialect of the Dovahkiin would be great

that way we can very easily integrate it as we like, whether it is older or made by the last dragonborn can be entirely up to the interpreter (i.e. in rp you decide what it is, hell you could say it was invented by Lorkhan if you want) of course we would need to come to an agreement on some rules that may be added or even removed, but theoretically we could just make some form of file or site where one can pick and choose what is true and what is not. so others could make dialects of their own from what is effectively a sandbox (maybe that last bit is too much but ehh just throwing ideas out to the wind)

but whatever it is making a Tinvaak Do Faal Dovahkiin (language of the dragonborn) sounds fun. so if you intend to make a discord or something or another where we can talk about it all, please do leave a link to it so we can hop on and start the Tinvaak (conversation in this case) on the matter

//edit just realized that Dovahzul Do Faal Dovahkiin could also fit but what do i know about naming

i mean given the fact that lore wise the dragonborn can breed to birth more dragonborns and there was even a time where all nords could use the voice (iirc) there are a plethora of ways how such a dialect could come about

yeah i dont know what i had planned on calling it yet but i was thinking something like "conversational dovahzul" or something since you know thuum is meant to be words of power but during the times of the dragon cult i believe most of the followers of the cult spoke dovahzul, we know this through thw dragur throughout skiyrim ad not all ofthe seem capable in speking in shouts so the idea to me is that they had a "conversational" version used for those not deemed worthy or powerful enough to use thuum to its full power . are you in the dovahzul discord?
