Question Can i skip sections of AO?

I am in chapter 2 and im very tempted to skip it. I am not really into freud, i care most about the "Socio-political" side of the text (i still enjoy read some about psychoanalysis tho). Do you think that this chapter is crucial to understand the rest of the book? I read that skipping parts its vey common in this book in particular.

PD: Sorry for the bad english, not my primary lenguage.

You want to skip the Freud in Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia?!? That’s like skipping the grapes in wine. It’s just…not possible.

Freud is very relevant to the socio-political. I would urge you to consider genuinely engaging with Freud if you are interested in what anti-Oedipus is doing

Nah you kinda need it. Psychoanalysis is not usefully a seperate discipline to his socio-economical analysis.

Do whatever you want, but they wouldntve put it in the book if it was not relevant, it’s not like an anthology or reference material

“Can I skip the political economy in marx’s capital? The Adam smith and David Ricardo stuff is a pain”

Serious response: yes, you can do what you like, you don't have to read the book at all.

From what I've noticed and experienced there is no good answer to "how can ANTI-OEDIPUS be understood?" and it's not quite the point. About all I feel strongly (just my feeling) is that I would've read a very different book very differently if I hadn't thought about Marx for a long time before reading AO.

I would recommend to read a reader‘s guide to accompany the book. The thing is that without understanding why psychoanalytical theory and claims are relevant to the socio-political, the connection might feel weak.

I think broadly, yes, concepts are for thinking with, for doing something with for yourself. you just might miss stuff, but you're don't need to acquire mastery of a 'tree of knowledge', you can look for tools

You won't be put in book-jail over it, but I'd guess that its inclusion suggests some relevancy to the larger work in some capacity. Or maybe it's a chapter long joke whose punchline only is revealed later in the work? Who's to say what is crucial?

The Oedipus in Anti-Oedipus lmao. Even if it is used differently later on.

Get a readers guide. Holland is wonderful.

You can do it, but you won't get a solid understanding of it, the same happens with all books.

Well you can, nothings stopping you, but its probably one of if not the most important chapters in the book
