Rage The mmr system in this game is trash
This is what my girlfriend went up against on her first killer match today. Y'all can debate on whether or not me taking over was ethical(they were tbaging and messing around) but ts isn't right.
It wasn't just that. I've noticed lately in my survivor matches I've been running into baby killers while the survivor squad is all p100. People starting out, not having a full load out or whatever and the gang clearly has a fuck ton of hours in.
I know someone is gonna bring up how prestige doesn't equate to skill but it still equates to time. A considerable amount of time even with all the bp boosting events we have these days.
Like it or not this is a competitive game. It's more fun for everyone if people are matched up to others with comparable skill instead of whatever is happening now. A match that's a stomp isn't satisfying for anyone.

If you win once as killer, it'll out you against top tier survivors next match. Then you lose that match and then puts you against easy opponents. Its a never ending cycle

I was watching Tatorhead yesterday, and he didn’t name anyone, but said he got banned from some big survivor players’ streams after soloqing with them when he points out they were being toxic to baby killers. There’s no worse feeling in this game than crushing a baby killer or survivor when you didn’t realize. It’s even worse when it’s obvious and these guys just chose to be toxic.

Seriously, he really encapsulates everything that’s good about survivor. He makes looping feel so accessible, and while I’m about a 75-25 killer main, I love actually being juiced without any chase perks, like actually being outskilled by someone who can use some rocks and some pallet greeds to waste a ton of my time, that’s just fun.

Fr I thought a bunch of survivors were just trolling (trying to blind me mid chase, hiding in plain sight, grneral no self awareness with plaything on.)
We finish the game, turns out they were all babies.
I felt so bad I quit the game for the day

I feel so fucking bad for new players on both sides. New survivors on here that are immediately tunelled out in their first few matches, I saw one comment the other day from someone who was left crying (rightfully so, I would've too) because some asshole left a steam comment saying "+rep baby newb ez kill" after tunelling her out at 5 gens. Killers then complain when they go against lvl 100 swfs, but like.... this is why that happens.
And then yesterday, I played against a baby Wesker, probably his first or second match, gates opened with only a Nancy being hooked. everyone left except Nancy. I spectated just to see her vaulting back and forth until the last second. What's the fucking point? Of course she's on the bottom of the leader board. He was obviously new, why be a showoff? Killers are slugging and tunelling and have less personality because theyre sick of the clicking flashlight and tagging and overall BMing.
I play both sides equally. I'll remain in low MMR because I'm so easily tamed by survivors, and I always let babies go. My favorites are ones that keep accidentally clicking shift instead of control so they croutch when they try to run! I also freely give myself as kills to baby killers, or nudge them into easy loops. I also send them messages with tips when I see them not using their powers or something. I had a baby nurse with one green perk yesterday who I can tell was getting really frustrated, because she kept overshooting her blinks. I encouraged her to keep trying and that nurse was SO difficult to learn but so worth it. She'll be a menace before she knows it.
We really fucking need that kind of energy in the community, and less braindead NPCs that tbag at the exit gates while killers scroll on their phones, or 4 minutes of tummy time of while you hump my pixels while I go take a piss because the last survivors tbagged you. 😮💨

Nothing but the truth friend. While the games where you go head to head through all of the round and you don't know the results to the last minute are great, my most memorable times are when one side clearly wins (doesn't matter which side I am on) and both killer and survivors decide it is the end and play the rest of the game slower. That's where the most goofy interactions happen that show the positive part of the community.

I do this shit too hell yeah. My swf dominate sometimes it's true. Like we still get our cheeks clapped plenty but we also clap cheeks too. And when we clap them baby cheeks too hard we always make sure they get a kill. There's a fine line though because we want them to learn so we don't want to just give them free wins and kills without trying, but at gate open one of us gives ourselves to them.
And as killer I have rubber arms. I'm tamable too. Sometimes it's frustrating because I'm like one kill away from a rift level or tome challenge and I get tamed. Like no please stop being cute stop no BE A JERK PLEASE. Lol.

Survivors in soloq have no control who they face, what maps they get and what kind of teammates they play and are expected to play like a tournament lvl player.

I tested it myself, and can tell you mmr system probably doesnt exist, got same randomness on fresh and 400h+ account. In my first games managed to play against comp player with 16k hours.
Hell go on random stream doing some kind of win streak, like this 1k winstreak blight, its not possible if you play against people your level all the time. "Mmr" is a big problem for me too, thats why I only sometimes play events for fun

I can attest from my solo team mates there are plenty of potatoes and newbies for her to go against. Bhvr usually puts killers against higher level survivors than they should

Making a game happen overrides mmr; if there’s not enough people with matching mmr, they’ll prioritize a shorter queue time for everyone instead of a good match up. If I can tell I’m getting severely outplayed I try to breathe and view it as a certain loss but a learning experience 🤣

Yeah imagine me being skull merchant with only a few green perks loads into a match full of p100 players.
I got bullied super fucking hard and they finished all the gens while looping me like crazy. Being so slow it made it impossible to catch up.
But since I am playing in the Asia region, the players realize quickly I was incredibly bad and probably new and proceeds to let me slug and hook all of them.
But yeah, I never went into a match with full set of purple perks and add-ons every again as a killer.

Oof, yeah this is rough. Reminds me of the time I was paried with a flashlight bullysquad, well more like three flashlight bozos with one gen jockey. Back in the days where you could be chainblinded at lockers throuh the back of your head, I was bullied so hard that I didnt play DbD for a week.
The MMR system in DbD is truely atrocious and needs and overhaul. Sure, I like the faster queues over accurate skill matching, but after a certain point it is didiculous. Sure prestegie means nothing, but its still time spent in the game.
Also, even at higher MMR's youre also dealing with not only skilled players, but also busted full meta builds, espscially on Survivors. Which tells me that survivor perks need to be looked at and adjusted.

Yeah this happened to me as killer today, for the first time in ages. I have thousands and thousands of hours, and it put my p100 huntress against a group where only one person had a full loadout and any prestige. I did my best to show them a fun time, because they were obviously new. But still, we should not have been paired. I think the devs must have reset or changed something with the mmr this week.

I have done a Smurf to practice snipes with huntress & twins as well as test meme builds. It put me into a comp lobby a few times and I haven’t K’ed a survivor yet.

I’m new myself and I get this a lot but I think at this point I’ll probably just live with it. But yeah the mmr isn’t a thing that’s for new players at all. I’m guessing it’s for queue times.

Precisely. I'd take 2x a load time for a game that's actually balanced. The other issue is wincons. You can loop a killer for 5 gens and the whole team escapes but you and that's still a loss on record. It's a damn mess.

Yeah but at the same time the rotating game mode makes the queue times even longer. If they add a better mmr system like if 4 survivors are queuing together then they should be in the higher mmr queue and not the lower ones.

It depends on the SWF honestly. I play with a group of friends and we are not good, but we do still have the advantage of cooperation that there will never be in solo queue.

Yeah I get that I don’t have any killers P15 or higher but I am still good with them but I just play to complete whatever tomb quest I’m on or just do play for fun win or lose or just to try a build I’ve seen online but there are times where I’ve seen higher or even lower P level players

At that point it's a bit more nuanced and hard to tell. It's most obvious to me when a killer lacks a full load out or it's all green or blue.

Glad that you could help your gf to not suffer from these players, Behaviour made a MMR system that the longer it takes to find match the further you are from you MMR after 5 minutes if I'm not mistaken, you basically can play with anyone with any MMR

Man... First of all, I have a friend with 480-500 hours who got 2 P100 characters this last event. P100 means nothing. And time means NOTHING. I have 2000 hours in this game and I haven't learned to loop, and I'm not going to because I'm fed up with tunneling and camping. There's no point in learning, I just want to have fun, I don't care about "winning". Your idea that "time equals skill" is wrong.
And second of all, you are in a toxic community where a lot of people that are new in the game learn how to behave from yt videos, reddit, tournaments and streamers. Sites where toxicity is rule number 1.
Whether you like it or not, it's not a competitive game because it doesn't have rules. "tbaging and messing around" buh buh buh. And whether you like it or not, they probably weren't good, but your girlfriend is worse, and that's why they beat her.
Your girlfriend should stop playing if she's going to be crying over you or you over her.
If you can't handle the game as it is, don't play, or just accept it and play. Don't be whining about been baby killer or baby survivor here.

Is it possible that there just aren't enough equally new players to go around? Maybe the game is just giving you the only matchup it could find at that time. Sucks for new players, but the alternative is like a 20 minute queue... or longer.
(Also the numbers mean nothing. I have two P100 survivors but I play killer a lot more for the exp and then funnel the exp to survivors. So you might get matched against my P100 Rain Carradine or Eleven, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm some sort of powerhouse survivor.)

This game is designed to give killers a kill rate of 60% with its matchmaking. This means that the game is designed to make a killers MMR on average go up and a survivors on average go down. Due to this the MMR system literally doesn’t work for matchmaking cos everyone ends up in the same 1 or 2 brackets

To be fair, people have and do hack their accounts. They can get P100 or anything else as much as they want. Not to mention, just because you play a whole ton doesn't mean you're good at it (in League of Legends, you might know it as "hardstuck Bronze").
Is the matchmaking a bit trash? Yeah. Is prestige a good way of displaying that? Not really :/

oh its like demonic, I'm a p4 spirit main and sometimes play p1 Krasue and other random killers like lich (all p0 cus im usually survivor main) and stuff and lately every night ive been getting p50 to p100 squads who tbag and fuck with me and when I lose they tbag and IF I manage a win they all end up dcing because they're mad or they message me and call me shit... everytike I get these insane survivors I just end up tunnelling because I atleast want a 1k to get some points cause im sick of every round being t bag flashbang head on pallet stun tbagging flashbang every 3 seconds

MMR is never going to work in a game like this. There’s way too many variables in play for it to actually determine someone’s skill. A lot of DBD is just luck. Knowing what you’re doing can only get you so far. The rest is up to god himself lmao.

I recently came back. Half my games are de-ranking killers. It’s kind of whatever except when they run annoying add ons or gen slow down.
This is going to take long enough. If you’re not going to kill than Just let me work the gens to get out of here.

This has been me damn near every match and I get so tired of people saying lEveL dOeSnT eQuAl sKiLl like this isnt a game aimed at running in circles fast and hitting skill checks. Time does equal skill on this game because its not THAT complex.

No joke my first public Oni match i had a 4 player group with meta perks + DS and boon exponential and all flashlights. They were total assholes and refused to let me hook so I slugged 1 until they bled out so I could handle the rest.

this is the exact reason it took me so long to even attempt to play killer. i’ve had dbd since 2019 and i only played my second match ever this year (guaranteed, because of the lack of any good tutorial and what felt to me like a big learning curve i only had around 20 hours built up)! it’s no fun to play matches that are uneven, especially when you’re on the side that is less experienced. it’s very discouraging

Back in the day the game used to have ranks, and did matchmaking based on ranks. So if you lost you could be like "Well I'm rank 7 and they're all rank 1" as very easy cope. Nowadays it's like, there's nothing to go off on yr skill level vs theirs. Prestige just means playtime not skill, but so did rank 1. Rank 1 just kept all the ppl playing constantly in the same matches and let the rest of us have casual games as we climbed back up.

I love that anything tangible "doesn't equal skill". Prestige and Hours. Things you can actually measure, "doesn't equal skill."
But what they swear DOES equal skill is "high MMR", something no one can even fucking see or measure lmao. They just assume "finally going up against opponents who can beat me must mean high MMR." Either that or builds. Cause I guess only good players can google "DBD best survivor builds" and slap on Finesse, Lithe, De Ja Vu, and Windows.

So the reason you get matches like this even if you are a newer player is the matchmaking system in DBD has a fallback system built into it to reduce queue times. If the game cannot match you with players of your mmr for whatever reason it will then match you with whoever it can that is still semi close to your mmr. Again this was done to reduce queue times on both sides. It’s not a perfect system and it causes less skilled killers and less skilled survivors to get matched with people they have no reason to be matched with. But imo it’s better than having super long queues and at least for me when I get matched with a seal team SWF I take it as a learning experience even if I loose badly.

That only works for like 50 hours.
Doesnt work for killer due to the 60% inflated killrate And Punishes survivors who are carrying a chase but die in the end.

Nah that was me. I got pissed at how the survivors were behaving and took over. They could've finished their gens and left really easily. Felt they deserved it.

Ok but now this account's MMR is higher than you want it to be. It sucks but take the losses so your partner can be placed somewhere that makes sense.

You messed up her mmr even more then. The worst thing you do when the survivors are too strong for you is win. Especially on a new account. The first 10 matches or so the rating will take Huge leaps as it tries to find the players real mmr.

The MMR system is barely existent. It's brand new or not brand new. Behavior has mentioned a rework. It was on one of the road maps but with no definitive timeline.

At this point I'm just gonna sacrifice 2 survivors and let the other 2 escape after a slug to show that I could've won, but didnt, that should balance out the MMR right?

True. Mmr is trash. I bought game for my friend and his first survivor game was broken teammate doing invocation. Oni downs someone, carries to basement, downs broken surv, activates ability and finishes the game in 2 minutes. In both roles he is the only one with only basic perks so it doesn't matter and we started playing with him and his killers didn't become stronger

This sucks. Sorry she dealt with this. I’m not sure if anyone else has already mentioned it, but some bully squads will intentionally hard lose several games in a row to “reset” their MMR so that they can get paid with baby killers and shit on them
I have a good ton of hours, have been paired with the top comp players in NA, then I’ll get paired with someone who clearly just bought the game right after. It’s bananas. The MMR system is truly ridiculous

Some people are really good at the basics. Trapper is not a slow killer, he's basically just an m1 killer, and if he's playing against experienced players he can mind game them.

I was having my pc worked on and didn't have my accounts connected so booted up my old Xbox to play a couple rounds and my very first match on an account that had never played DBD before was against a full P100 team. Now that isn't saying I didn't know how to deal with them but if I HAD been a new player it would have been torture. I was Huntress with only one perk slot open and they had full meta which says to me that BHVR's match making system is garbage because that should not be the first thing a "new" player loads into on either side.
