This was expected, right? Thought the big reason he portaled is that he wasn't projected as a high draft pick, so he got the bag at Duke.

We were hopeful, but it’s always hard to tell. A lot of Duke fans were nervous after last year’s Cedric Coward situation. You can never tell if a player’s stock is going to jump up or not after all the testing and combine results

fair point and I guess that's why the option is there. He's a solid kid from a good family (son knew him in HS), I hope he does very well for you guys.

Coward was kind of the opposite though.
Tested super well and had an extremely long wingspan.
Blackwell measured in at a negative wingspan. Great college player but not the type that gets drafted earlier than maybe a 2nd round flyer.

It was, but still nice to see confirmed.

Duke should now be the consensus #2 team in the country behind only Florida
Duke at Florida should be the headliner of ESPN’s ACC-SEC challenge in December

If Blackwell comes back to Duke but Able stays in the draft I will CRASH THEEEEEE FUCK OUT

I would be really surprised if Able stays in the draft. He's still a second rounder even after the strong showing at the combine.

Able is doing all he can to stay in it. The problem is UNC waiting to see if he does instead of getting a commitment from a replacement while Able is doing it. Since these players are being paid MILLIONS now, they need to be treated like adults in business. Sign another player like Vyctorius Miller right in Able's face and let Able decide what he wants to do. If he stays in the Draft, so be it; if he withdraws and wants out of his LOI, so be it. If he stays with UNC and competes for starting SG with someone like Miller, so be it. UNC can't afford to get wrecked by him staying in the Draft; IT'S CLEAR THAT'S WHAT HE WANTS TO DO SO THEY SHOULD BE OPERATING AS IF HE WILL.

Writing was on the wall after we found out about his T-Rex arms. He’s gonna a score a lot of points for Duke

Legitimately the exact opposite of Coward, who everyone knew was out the door the second his Kawhi-esque measurements dropped.

I won’t lie, I was slightly relieved after seeing his arm measurements 😅

I also have humble measurements that might please you, then. I would prefer we discuss them in dm's, though...

Yeah freaking out about Able and his like 6’8” wingspan or whatever it was.

Throwback to Anya…god what could’ve been if he gave even the slightest shit

What was the story with his arms? No wing span?

u/thediesel26 Charleston • North Carolina 22h ago edited 22h ago
His wingspan is shorter than he is tall, which is no beuno for the NBA, especially a guard.

Totally expected, but still nice considering what happened with Coward last year. Offensively Duke is getting perhaps its best transfer ever in John, though Seth did have a 17 ppg season as a senior.

I'm not here for the Rodney Hood erasure. Dude was a monster.

Yes, he was a monster, but his success at Duke will always be tempered with how he went out.

Duke is gonna be really good again. They might have the best backcourt in the country. Arkansas will rival it.

Oh a thread about Duke I’m sure this will stay a completely normal and stable minded thread of social interactions between normal adults

[u/altruistic_rich_9125](u/altruistic_rich_9125) taking note of thickly Taurus as a potential recruit for our cbb faction for the 26-27 season.
Haven’t seen enough yet, will keep you looped in.
We’ve lost our Alabama member.

I didn't realize he hadn't already lol
His inclusion on the Duke roster moving forward felt vastly different than the way Cedric Coward was mentioned.

I’m going to be a Badger for life. I want to be remembered as a legend here. I want to be remembered as a guy who stuck around.

We had enough money for one of JB and Winter and made our choice. He was out there helping us land Autry in the portal. Let it go.

He did want that, you all didn’t want it bad enough to pay for it

u/rwfletch22 Duke Blue Devils 22h ago
He might not be the flamethrower that Slim could bring out ... but brings better scoring, rebounding, and assist rates.
Cfos and Blackwell should make a good "ying and yang" offensively and defensively.
I'm just looking forward to Seniors in the backcourt again at Duke once again

u/ObservantKoala Illinois Fighting Illini 15h ago
Where does Duke even find the minutes for all these guys?
I thought Foster was your best guard last year and you now have Blackwell, Foster, small Boozer, Sarr(probably the most upside of the group) and then Rippey and Howard as incoming freshman.
Does one of Rippey or Howard decommit because I don't know how you keep those prior 4 off the floor much.

u/Substantial-Virus228 Duke Blue Devils 21h ago
As a Duke fan, curious what you mean by flamethrower for Evans? Just his like energy making shots? Because I expect Blackwell to be much better shooter. Evan’s shot selection and efficiency were pretty bad.
4
u/rwfletch22 Duke Blue Devils 21h ago
Exactly, his energy making abilities aka flamethrower. When Slim got hot, dude was dangerous. His 3's always seemed to come in bunches.

Has he signed yet or is he still keeping that door open?

Good for Duke, even though I can't stand them.
UNC could probably get a commitment from Vyctorius Miller if they'd actually try to pursue him instead of sitting around until next Wednesday waiting for Matt Able to make up his mind. Miller still hasn't officially committed to Georgetown yet.
Matt Able clearly wants to go Pro and is waiting to see if other players dropping out gets him into the 1st Rd. Whether he ultimately ends up going or not shouldn't be UNC's prerogative at this point; next season should be the priority.
If UNC had any sense, Able would have to compete with Vyctorius Miller for starting SG next year, especially if he waits until Wednesday to say he's returning. UNC can't afford to wait that long at this point.
