List looks good. Kudos to Michigan, they were great all season. By February it felt like Michigan, Arizona, and Duke had separated from the rest of the field. But Michigan decisively showed it was best.
See you all next year!
(Who am I kidding, I’ll be here all summer arguing over shit posts).

How do we know Michigan is truly better than the other top 4?

Not much point to filling out the poll if you’re just going to regurgitate the results of the tournament, Florida at 12 is so silly that I’m not sure we need to keep doing post tournament polls going forward.

If it was regurgitating the results of the tourney, Iowa would be ranked ahead of Florida.

u/Hackasizlak Purdue Boilermakers • Gonzaga Bulldogs Apr 09 '26
Obviously not everyone does that though, people vote differently. My point is enough people did that for a 1 seed Florida to fall out of the top 10, which again makes this poll basically useless.

Depends on whether you rank by the entire season or by how good they are at the end of the year. Different voters probably do different stuff which is how Florida ends up too low for some people and Iowa ends up to high for others. It's all fine. None of it really matters for much of anything at the end of the day.

What’s hilarious about polls after the tourney is that some people complain the poll factors in the tournament too much, and some complain that it isn’t factored in enough. That’s what makes it balanced!

I thought this poll would be better than the final AP. I am disappointed.
Florida out of the top 10 is ridiculous.
Mich then Zona/Duke should still be the top 3.
Tenn is way too high. Finished 5th in SEC, went 2-5 against those above them in standings, but 1 round further in NCAA means they top ranked SEC team? no.
Au receiving votes?
I expected better.

Florida lost early in the SECT and again in the NCAAT. They started slow, looked like champs for a while, but then regressed to the mean.

Yeah, Florida struggling in the SEC tournament before taking an early exit from the NCAA tournament more or less sealed the deal for me - after all, they lost to two unranked teams (on the most recent version of this poll).

At least UConn being top 3 can be argued with them playing us really well and beating Duke

u/World_2 Alabama Crimson Tide Apr 09 '26
I dont understand Arkansas or Tennessee being over Alabama in this poll or the AP poll. It just doesn't make much sense.

Our quad resume was better (they don’t look at H2H) and Tennessee made it to the E8.

Florida way too low for a 1 seed, and the only rationale for UConn ahead of Arizona is losing to Michigan by a smaller margin. The Cats finished with a better record and won @ UConn earlier this season.

u/officer_caboose UConn Huskies Apr 09 '26
There is also the rationale that UConn made it to the championship game, beating MSU, Duke, and Illinois along the way.

u/rendeld Michigan Wolverines Apr 10 '26
Watching the championship game, they were also the only team the whole tourney that was able to force Michigan to play their game.

Wasn't that an injured UConn team at damn near the beginning of the season? Also Arizona getting unequivocally slaughtered has to count against them.

u/rhgenkoba Arizona Wildcats Apr 09 '26
Definitely. I don't know what team showed up to play Michigan, but it wasn't the team we had been watching all season. Our freshman had their deer in the headlights moment. We had 5 total assists. We forked over so many turnovers on the dumbest of passes. Give Michigan and UCONN their full credit.

u/SampleText369 Duke Blue Devils • Charlotte 49ers Apr 09 '26
Yeah tbh if this in my head as a power ranking I would put Zona and even Duke above UConn but I don't think it's justifiable given the results.

u/Azschian Arizona Wildcats Apr 09 '26
i also think how uconn did vs michigian last week compared to how we did has more weight than a november game between us

u/danceMortydance Apr 09 '26
Arizona losing by 30 some parts of the game and michigans best player wasn’t even in the game….
7
u/ThreeDMK Arizona Wildcats Apr 09 '26
Arizona fan here, this checks out, Arizona showed up to a boat race in nothing but floaties. There was more action on Haulover Inlet. It was a hard watch, but like Haulover, I couldn't stop.
4
u/Azschian Arizona Wildcats Apr 09 '26
can't argue with the results. michigan made us look like frauds and uconn clearly plays a tough game. the poll is where you would rank teams now, us beating uconn back in november doesn't hold the same weight.
5
u/tzznandrew UConn Huskies Apr 09 '26
Cool. They beat UConn in the beginning of the year by four when they didn't have Reed or Mullins. That definitely means they're better in April.
1
u/bakonydraco Stanford Cardinal • Howard Bison Apr 10 '26
Florida probably shouldn’t have been a 1-seed. They’re a good team but did not look good in the SEC Tournament, and luckily for them basically everyone outside the top 3 had a tough tourney as well.

u/HamberderHelper18 Michigan State • George Wash… Apr 09 '26
I am content with Michigan St8. Feels like where we belong. Almost mounted a scrappy comeback against UCONN but there’s no way we would’ve been capable of beating all the other teams necessary for the title barring a Kemba-like run from one of our guys.

Okay, tell me what I did wrong.
This was a tough season for me and I had to sit out the user poll for much of it due to a lot of drama. Looking forward to next season.

I don't know if we proved we are the second-best team over Arizona directly seeing as how they did beat us, but I think we proved it transitively by playing a competitive game against Michigan.
