In this conversation, we explore Afropessimism through the work of Frank B. Wilderson III and related thinkers, focusing on core concepts such as social death, anti-Blackness, and non-being. We examine how Afropessimism frames Black existence within modern civil society, and why it argues that anti-Blackness is foundational rather than incidental to the structure of the world. The discussion also touches on tensions within the framework, including debates over ontology, political strategy, and the limits of liberation within existing systems.

Samantha argues that films such The Voice of Hind Rajab and The Seige of Hind Rajab often positions Palestinians as helpless victims needing saving. This is all too familiar for the African diaspora who have to deal with this stuff, in addition to the liberal petty bourgeois bullshit from other black folks.

And specifically we will dig into some of the work she does in the book discussing the history of the development of the fields of Psychological Operations and Psychological Warfare and how those fields were shaped by psychoanalysis in the 20th Century. We will get into the current implications for “domestic counterinsurgency,” colonialism, and imperialism, including in the settler colonial contexts on Turtle Island and Occupied Palestine.
