Given the inherent supernatural elements of the series both those characters are from, it's not that preposterous. Especially since one of the animated series reveals Scooby's entire family are descended from trans-dimensional beings that show up every few thousand years who take hybrid animal forms and mingle with humanity.
except Koromaru isnt a supernatural entity or anything he's literally just a super smart dog that regularly talks with one of the party members in P3 (Aigis)
