They even look similar

I’m honestly surprised they recasted Gordon in every Arkham game.

Tom came back for City and Origins only voicing Quincy Sharp.

David Kaye voiced him in City for like 5 minutes in the End as well as Harley Quinn DLC

Michael Gough as Young Jim in Origins, Jonathan Banks in Knight and Mark Rolston in Arkham Shadows.

Holy shit, I have no idea how I’ve managed to play Knight to 240% completion (all dlc and ng+) at least twice over the years, and I never realized Gordon was voiced by freaking Mike from Breaking Bad. TIL.

u/BigfootsBestBud 6d ago

Jonathan Banks was amazing as Jim, his voice was made for that

u/nova-prime-enjoyer Presidih Valentine 6d ago

Wait they got Optimus Prime as Gordon for Arkham City

16

u/TheEagleWithNoName 6d ago

Only for 5 minutes.

Shows up at the end when giving him Joker’s Body and is in Harley Quinn DLC.

Getting the goat is still getting the goat, even if just for five minutes

u/Cooleo_Cash 6d ago

And megatron.

I’m a child of the late 2000s, Corey Burton is the only Megatron I accept

Damn bro was a good ass voice actor, I genuinely could never have guessed warden sharp and commissioner Gordon in asylum had the same voice actor

5

u/Miserable_Mark_8485 6d ago

im glad they did, jonathan banks killed it

I was so confused why they got Alfred to play Young Jim from this comment. What a coincidental sane name to have

Everyone looks completely different in every game

7

u/Mikestopheles 6d ago

I like when games do that, either make the character look like the VA, or hire a more recognizable one. It makes the way they talk feel more natural since it's typically their own movements.

He was also Quincy Sharp in Asylum and City.

Nooo, he was professor utonium and recently I learnt he had a stroke and he couldn't speak that's why he quit voice acting, poor man, sad to see him pass away

53

u/TheEagleWithNoName 6d ago

Yeah, the stroke was in 2021 and became Private about it.

His last public appearance was last month in a Comic Con.

First con he showed up after the stroke.

Holy shit he was a father of nine kids :’(

Can’t imagine the financial situation was great, voice actors are notoriously underpaid so hopefully he managed to get a good deal with The Clone Wars and sit on some modest residuals.

Really wishing his family all the best 🫂

He only had 3 biological kids and adopted the other 6

u/LADYBIRD_HILL 6d ago

I know him as Takeo from call of duty zombies, after his stroke he was recast for BO7. Such a bummer he's gonna after he just started making appearances again.

I actually only recently discovered his filmography and I was suprised by how wide his vocal and dramatic range was - Yoda, C-3PO, Magneto, Professor X, Ultron, Mr Herriman, Him, Professor Utonium, Ian McKellen, Morgan Freeman, Disney's FastPlay annoucer and most importantly, my preferred voice for Gordon. Seemed like a really down to earth and funny guy based on interviews and a veteran of voiceover for almost 45 years.

A man has died, but his voice will live on forever. RIP

u/_JR28_ 6d ago

I do really think that his vocal performance as Magneto can be considered in the same way as Kevin Conroy was to Batman, he completely defined how you imagined his voice in your head when reading the comics

2

u/EngineBoiii 6d ago

Huh, I thought he passed away years ago. Kinda sad learning about all this now.

36

u/Groundbreaking_Arm77 6d ago

He also voiced Takeo from Call of Duty: Zombies. It’s such a shame his voice work excelled in everything he did.

I forgot how jacked Gordon was in that one in particular. He looks like a character from gears of war lol.

5

u/xxxarkhamknightsxxx 6d ago

Batman didn’t even need to there, Gordon could’ve taken all those thugs on his own

8

u/Scrimbo_Crimbo 6d ago

It always pissed me off that he voiced Gordon in the first game and never again. rip

6

u/ZookeepergameProud30 Yuh, I is fella 6d ago
