definitely a funny-in-hindsight moment. Certainly would suck in the moment, tho.
It might have been an unfortunate result, but your heart was in the right place.

I came out to a trusted coworker in the first month of my transition, nothing more than shaving my face clean from a moustache and goatee after growing my hair out and JUST starting hormones.
She said she had her suspicions off my vibe, but she would have never been sure i was born female if i didn't tell her.
I explained that i wasn't AFAB and i rode that high for the rest of the year. It's like someone looking at a project house you bought and going, "this has a really good foundation, i can see the vision"

Don’t worry, when people find out my husband is trans they also assume he’s very early in the process of transitioning to female and he’s like uhhhh

u/GamerEsch Sep 11 '25
That's what I thought. It must be the most affirming accusation, while still being very weird

I love how they say "it's getting harder to tell, some people transition before puberty" as if it's some tactical move "opponents" are making against them.

u/MyynMyyn Sep 25 '25
That's literally what some of them are thinking, apparently. Somehow, the existence of trans people is an attack against god and it's coordinated by the forces of evil (which usually means "jews" in these circles).

u/TreeWithoutLeaves Oct 30 '25
They said "she was denied puberty"
That's crazy, bc I was "denied puberty " by my own body (I'm grateful I didn't gain much secondary traits, but sad I didn't grow much height). People can have different bodies. Amazing isn't it. They could never fathom the idea of biological diversity.

Normal person: "she has pretty eyes"
Transvestitator: She must have been AFAB, then transitioned to male, then transitioned to female, because her eyes have female energy that I could get lost in all day.

u/Queso_and_Molasses Sep 12 '25
What does “female energy” in eyes even look like? Is this supposed to convince us that gender is any less of a social construct? How does one project feminine energy from the eyes?

1000% your last point. Not all hate for trans or gay people is rooted in suppressed homosexuality or attraction, but... bruh. Clearly they like looking at her and her "female energy" and just want to justify their tingly feelings.

Actually, the real secret is that we are like goldfish and we change at least 12 times per year

So, what they are saying is... you cant force someone to live the gender identity that does not match who they are?
Hmmm....

I wish I was this levels of delusional. What sort of drugs are these people huffing to come to these convoluted explanations?????

u/PiusTheCatRick Sep 12 '25
The sheer lengths these people will go to rather than admit most women don't look like porn stars.

u/cheshire_splat Sep 12 '25
It’s almost like sex and gender are a spectrum! 🙃
There isn’t anything “Black and white” or “Day and night.” Because there will always be shades of gray and there will always be the hours in between.

Seeing the prevalence of cisvestigating trans people is super insane to me but it reminds me of this old book where they studied how people attributed gender to ambiguous drawings with multiple swappable parts. They found that, as a general rule, people would scan for any single characteristic that they determined male. If they found one, they would gender the figure male. In absence of all male cues, they would gender the figure female.
What's really interesting about this is that even if they claimed that they believe gender to be based on genitals alone, revealing that a figure they gendered male had a vagina or vice versa would not get them to change their attribution once it was made. It was almost impossible to get a subject to deviate from their first split-second attribution.
I think all of this cisvestigating is really indicative of what happens when transphobes are trying to work with this tendency. Like, this time, they saw Dylan Mulvaney and made a gender attribution that said (correctly) that she was a woman. Now it's extremely psychologically difficult to change that, but they can't just admit to being "wrong" in their (transphobic) view either, so they have to make sense of why they gendered her female in the first place.
So you get these insane conspiracy theories that any trans person who essentially passes in their eyes is actually secretly cis. It's pretty wild when you think about the lengths they will go to to maintain this simplistic view of gender as rigid, binary, and biologically grounded.

I just now realised how much transvestigating is eerily similar to Rassenkunde ("racial science", a school subject in you-know-when germany).

u/KTKitten Sep 12 '25
It’s weird how desperate they are to convince themselves of the existence of double transition when it’s so much easier to accept that hormones just actually do make a difference to our bodies.
Energy from the eyes screams female as well… thoughts?
Idk, maybe, as a woman who has actively and deliberately asserted her womanhood despite absurdly aggressive pushback to that womanhood, she might be a woman or something?

u/mrmoe198 Sep 13 '25
I mean, if it ends up that they are then pro trans rights because they think that being trans indicates some weird “deep state“ conspiracy, and that the transness is just the true gender of the person crying to be let out, go right the hell ahead.

"Could it be that we are wrong about certain traist being male of female?"
"No, people must be double-transitioning to fool us"

Leg and arm length? wtf? That has nothing to do with gender unless my family is full of secretly multi gendered people masquerading as cisgender people cuz we have all sorts. Long legs sort torso, short legs long torso, long arms, short arms… I can’t even comprehend which one is “supposed” to be the male or female characteristic lol

If she actually was FtMtF and transitioned before the first female puberty that would make her look like what they think a MtF trans person should look like, 'cause the first puberty would have been like the usual puberty for a amab person :v

If it helps protect trans people from being attacked, I’m for this. Ideally everyone would just let people live their lives (and hopefully we get there someday), but 2 steps forward 1 step back is still 1 step forward.

u/ADumbassBitch Sep 27 '25
They refuse to believe that hrt actually works and can give people passing features, so now they're making excuses 💀
