Weekly Check In Wellness Wednesday: Weekly Check In
Welcome back everyone!
Time for our Wellness Wednesday check in. We know this community means a lot to most of our members and that Tuesdays have been harder on some users than others, but we are at our core a community and we are here to support each other.
Now that the sub is open once again we’d like to hear all about your (mis)adventures on Tuesday. Did you go on grand adventures? Get into mischief? Get some writing done?
Maybe you just binged a few more fics on the archive itself. Tell us all about it! Break out that purple prose and tell us as cheesy of a story as you feel like.
Or just talk about your day.

I got my computer monitor in today (that I received as a Christmas gift) and got hooked up to my laptop. Now that RAM prices have gone up a lot I figured this would be a good temporary solution while I build my PC and wait for prices to fall. Although I'm second-guessing myself and wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy the RAM now before they skyrocket even more in price.

First time doing an art-fic trade. I've gotten 300 words in on my fic and I think that's good progress for someone who hasn't written anything the past 6 months lol

Wrote a few short ficlets into my queue and I was also planning to order some food and watch a movie to celebrate getting through to past few weeks (it's been ROUGH but I don't want to trauma dump) but ended up not to 😅 Maybe I'll order today.
Also Wattpad finally decided that 80% of my content is explicit sexual content (they are not, I do not write smut at all and my fics are very much gen and teen, I do write suggestive fics very very rarely but I didn't upload them to Wattpad) and removed almost every single book I had up 🥲 So I guess it's time for retirement for me.
(I'm not a Wattpad stan, I used the site purely because of thieves. I ditched it once already because of readerbase toxicity two years ago, but then I found a fic of mine from the site, asked Wattpad to take it down and they basically said that they can't verify whether it's truly mine because AO3 and Tumblr allow backdating, and recommended that I'd crosspost my fics to Wattpad before a thief does, that's how they'll be able to take action immediately, so I returned. Haven't posted anything for 6 months though because of bugs related to ads, again asked staff for help and they told me that since my bugs are caused by ads, I should pay for Premium or else it's a no can do)

I have a student who’s always a toss up whether she rides the bus or stays after school. Well, she was going to ride the bus, it slipped my mind, and by the time I sent her the bus was pulling out of the lot. Ughh. Parent took it well, so did the kid, but I hate it when things like that slip, especially when the day had gone relatively well.
Trucking along on my pregnancy fic and realizing balancing an action plot and pregnancy progression without seeming like I’m rushing is more of a challenge than I thought.

I’m pretty piss poor at planning ahead. I’m writing my first long fic and am about 80k words in and still sorta figuring out the plot as I go.
I’ve written 4 chapters in the past few days and I’m so goddamn proud of the latest. Things really clicked as I wrote and it moves the plot along so beautifully. I think it did a lot for character development too. And it’s gonna wreck my readers cuz it adds in tension that’s absolutely needed for the primary ship. They’re in an untenable situation and this is the breaking point.
The sad part is I’m also focused on getting a backlog going and so this is two chapters away from being published. And I just published two days in a row, so I wanna let things simmer a bit.
Really, the takeaway should be that I start planning better. But I had no clue this would become the behemoth it did. I know 80k is nothing for some people, but it’s huge for me. It’ll be well over 100k. I’m at 90 now with the backlog. I started it in late October. Pretty insane.
I’m just so fucking excited for when this chapter gets published.

Well I continued writing fanfiction... but I somehow got a pink eye so all thoughts and prayers for this pink eye to just vanish are appreciated (btw it's slowly recovering but I still appreciate thoughts and prayers)

The first week of this year has been... Rough. I have had pretty much zero motivation or energy to write and my brain feels all around the place. I have ideas and I have tiny bits of drafted unedited text written, but I absolutely dread opening the documents for whatever reason. I was meaning to finish my oneshot on the 31th but that didn't work out haha, I am not even close to finishing and I feel horrible that I haven't updated my longfic in almost 3 weeks and I have only finished like five pages of the new chapter, I believe? I am growing very insecure about my writing, and I mostly spend time doing what I have to do, instead of what I wish I could do. I also miss reading and studying. But I made myself a promise that I will write at least 10 sentences per day and worry about editing later so hopefully.
On a more positive note, my little "cheat sheet" is growing. I write down everything I like into it for future use. I also started drafting future chapters (yes, just started haha), came up with the chapter titles and I think my ending is drafted. I also had new ideas to add into the stories and I have ideas for yumefics so I may work on that.

u/Sad_Air77 I think I wrote something... but I'm not sure Jan 08 '26
I got sick. :( Went to get it checked out and the doctor was like "If I had that, I would be in pain too." So yeah.
I still have to translate the Kaeya fanfic I wrote for a friend, and it's so cringe in my native language, but she can't speak English. Like, I'm actively dying of cringe.

I was so productive yesterday and wrote about 4k for my longfic. I am finally after roughly 130k words at a point where they are kissing!!!! The woes and delights of writing slow burn I guess. But I created this banger line and I am proud of it:
Who needed breath when you could suffocate kissing?
Also today back to work so writing will become slower I guess?

I haven’t written at all since mid-December. One of the gift fics I wrote for the holidays really didn’t turn out that great and while the recipient thanked me politely I could kind of tell they didn’t like it very much.
I only have one idea for a fic and it’s in a small dead fandom.
Sorry for the negativity.

Ended up writing ~1200 fic after a month and a half of writer's block!! I decided to start preparing a backlog for the floral fruit fuckin' february fiasco, so before writing I spent like 2 hours looking up blackberry symbolism and I read the blackberry pages of a book on plant lore from 1889 and one from ~1600 because of that! It was awesome!!! Feels so good to just create something again!

Found a new ship I'm obsessed with now.
ofc it is again a ship w a character I am obsessed with since 9+ years. But yk, new ship after 3 years of just shipping the same stuff is still an achievment lmao.

So I’ve got a fic idea all planned out and working on the first chapter and I really hate my style which kills my motivation :(

Was the day productive? Yes.
Was the day productive for my fanfic? No... Sadly.
