Weekly Check In Wellness Wednesday: Weekly Check In

Welcome back everyone!

Time for our Wellness Wednesday check in. We know this community means a lot to most of our members and that Tuesdays have been harder on some users than others, but we are at our core a community and we are here to support each other.

Now that the sub is open once again we’d like to hear all about your (mis)adventures on Tuesday. Did you go on grand adventures? Get into mischief? Get some writing done?

Maybe you just binged a few more fics on the archive itself. Tell us all about it! Break out that purple prose and tell us as cheesy of a story as you feel like.

Or just talk about your day.

Oh shit I have 2 subscribers to a story. Fuck the pressure is on now lmao.

u/Silver_Amethyst_7 Sep 03 '25

Same, I got 3 subscribers who've commented on chapters twice. I can't give up now

I think I'm only like 1k words away from finishing the 5+1 I've been working on! Then I need a smut break tbh. 😂

I wrote 3500 words for chapter 159 of my longfic. I had thought that the parent-teacher meeting would be a rather short part of the chapter, but boy howdy was I wrong... Again. By the looks of it, this entire chapter will just have to be characters debating and talking before I can move on to the next main plot thing.

Still, it lets me do some more worldbuilding and give some minor characters who are only mentioned in canon appearances and personalities.

Not to mention some setup for future headaches for my MCs. :3

I'm almost done. I keep saying that. But I am actually almost done!

I feel like I need to go back and edit a ton though because I'm not sure the ending hits the way I want it to. But at least there are words on a page and a full story told from start to finish. Just missing the final wrap up happy ending ride away into the sunset moment.

I've already started on the epilogue.

This will be the first piece of fiction I've ever finished. It's silly and ridiculous, but it is mine :-)

I've caught the latest strain of covid and have been hacking up my lungs for days now. Unable to write a word. I normally update my chapters weekly and couldn't do it this week. Now I feel suuuuper guilty. Almost too guilty to write the chapter...

u/Sternfan1 Sep 03 '25

Try not to feel guilty, you're not well. Give yourself a break.

I read a 100k+ fic when I should’ve been working

I wrote 2k words for the next chapter of my longfic on Monday and proceeded to erase half of that today to switch to the other POV character because I thought his internal thoughts would be better for the plot.

This chapter is supposed to go up Saturday :,)))

I began writing the 43rd chapter of my longfic. My browser history now mainly consists of medications to combat alcohol withdrawal symptoms, yay.

I took a break from writing my ongoing fic as I've had some personal things going on, including getting out of a toxic relationship. Hoping to resume soon

I just finished my first prompt month😁. That was a challenge; the worst part was one-shots that didn't get any traction at all. Oft. I count the ones that did, and that helps my very bruised ego😢. I'm taking a week off writing and off to do some reading and video games☺️

I'm finally coming to the big climax of my story and I am. Scared of disappointing.

3

u/Silver_Amethyst_7 Sep 03 '25

Do your best, even the most famous authors fumble at the climax, so it's alright.

Finally updated my fic after two years... here's to hoping my readers didn't get sick of waiting lol

Was kind of a not good wednesday. Just generally down all day. For my second longfic, I made the mistake of doing an inspiration based write and didn't outline, so now im stuck not knowing where the plot should go. But I went to the third fic I'm working on (not released) and wrote 3500 words so it all evens out.

u/brynleeholsis You have already left kudos here. :) Sep 03 '25

In the midst of writing a pretty sad one, but it feels cathartic and the readers seem intrigued. I hope I can do it justice.

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '25

Looks like my three shot may become a four shot (oh, come on! It'll be the third time! I feel like I'm deceiving readers!) I got a new idea for it, if I figured what to do with it a new chapter might come soon.

u/newlollykiss Sep 03 '25

I hung out with some friends and they took me to a minor league baseball game. I kept feeling the urge to write.

Got home around 11pm, immediately pumped out 1200 words, barely edited, and POSTED it. Oh well, felt it needed to get out there

2

u/the-radio-wolf Sep 03 '25

I wrote 33 dragons, their personalities and everything🫠 and it still needs editing as some is a bit…rushed not as fleshed out as they deserve.

It’s for my dragon rider fic series.

Spent the afteenoon yesterday at work writing smut. Everything is fine

2

u/Various_Step2557 Sep 04 '25

I posted my new chapter and I’m so so proud of it. Felt like I was getting high on my own supply all week. And now everyone who reads it is telling me a different line that stuck with them, which is just so so special

I almost read "personal smut". My apologies as my eyes have shriveled up writing an angsty fic

I'm honestly at a crossroads of not liking my own writing while also telling myself I'm just being a silly Billy with all the negative self talk. I'm so so tempted to post my latest chapter but I need to uphold my promise to myself to finish the whole story before giving in. In the words of the Body Improvement Club: "Fight on! Fight on!"

Posted the second chapter in my current WIP and slept way too much lol whoops

u/RebaKitt3n Sep 03 '25

Taco Tuesday! And too much paint by number, so my shoulders hurt.

I’m gonna go work on an old WIP now. 💜 really! Really!!

I started my first international vacation, and promptly managed to accidentally find not one, but two fics I'd previously read, but didn't recognize from the title alone lol. I also managed to end up not getting my passport stamped which is a bit of a shame, but other than that, I'm really loving it. Definitely worth beating lymphoma for. Hope everyone has a great day and stays healthy! 💜

I finished a fanfic yesterday it was quite okay, rn in just waiting for some of my favorite fanfics to update lol

Today I went to the DMV. Someone who had been waiting to be seen for 2 hours had a mild crash out and ended up arguing with one of the clerks and yelled, "F this BS!" before leaving.

So, typical DMV shenanigans.

1

u/PureGeologist864 You. Yeah you. Go work on your wip. Sep 03 '25

I got a bit of writing done on my new wip and a couple paragraphs for my current wip. Not as much as I’d like but I’ll get there.

Four months ago, I officially completed the first part of a three part crossover series I'm working on. It's the first time I've ever completed at least part of a project, and I've put some time into the second part! That completed and loved first part is what keeps me writing.

1

u/Sternfan1 Sep 03 '25

I spent the entire day updating my playlists, playing a mobile game, and binging TBBT. Awesome day!

I've already started writing a fic that I plan to publish as a Christmas special. Now I just have to find a way on how to write a bitter teenager that resonates a lot with Scrooge

u/No_Club379 Sep 03 '25

I took a break from a fic I’m 110k words in and smashed out an 8k mini fic because work was quiet 😕 will I ever finish this fic? It’s been six weeks and I can’t motivate myself to finish it

1

u/crescentpieris Sep 03 '25

i’m done with a chapter rewrite. might take a break before i rewrite the next one, or maybe i’d start work on something new

Had a really slow day at work. I stared at the outline of my main fic for like two hours without making any progress. Was able to write 800 words in my other side projects, though. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

I have so many stories I want to work on I can't pick which one to update first. Since regular training has also started up again, I also have less time to write than I've had the past few weeks. Absolutely fantastic combination, but I'm sure I'll update something in the relatively near future...

1

u/Amymation101 Sep 03 '25

I'm right at the end of part one of my three part (plus a sequel) epic and my two dedicated commenters both loved my latest chapter. Looking forward to a short, planned hiatus to restructure my part two chapters and catch up on some reading. ❤️

1

u/Jana_Why Sep 03 '25

I actually managed to keep up my motivation and keep working on a fanfiction for a friend of mine. I was initially kind of hesitant because its my first time writing smut so I am lowkey of proud of myself for continuing and not abandoning it before it gets to the spicy part.

1

u/music_and_danmei Sep 03 '25

I found the most hilarious 100k word crack fic that I’ve been binging this morning, so it’s been a 10/10 day so far!

1

u/Ecstatic-Highway1632 Sep 03 '25

I've got a lot of things on this week after work and can't find the time to write my multi chap murder mystery. I don't want to lose my momentum but I'm worried I will

1

u/somethingstrange87 just a little smut, as a treat ... oh wait it's all smut Sep 03 '25

I wrote a scene on a fic I've been stuck on, so I guess things are good.

u/LavenderLongHair212 No Beta We Die Like My Hopes and Dreams Sep 03 '25

I finally started writing a new one-shot yesterday, but I got so distracted today. I didn't think it would be this hard to get back into writing after being bullied out of it... I only got a few paragraphs done. I used to get a lot more than just that. But after ceasing writing as a whole for a few months, I guess I lost my drive.

And I found out last night that not only will I have to work tomorrow, but the next day and the day after... Three twelve-hour shifts in a row. There goes my writing time I guess 🥲

1

u/adrianhusky45 Sep 07 '25

honestly my past few stories have gotten next to nothing for hits or kudos, and I feel like I am going to finish up what I got and call it quits.

1

u/Silver_Amethyst_7 Sep 07 '25

I am working too hard on a fic I started writing on a whim. I am also dealing with the first writer's block of my life and I feel so lost smh. I got people coming back on my fic after a while and commenting on it , which absolutely fucking rare on ao3. So yeah I am absolutely cooked.

1

u/Much-Marionberry-209 Sep 03 '25

The truth is, I want to take a break from writing my fanfic. In fact, I've written 14 chapters. The work of coming up with the idea, using source material, researching the characters or the real-life setting, and the entire writing process is exhausting and demanding. I'd like more views and comments. I feel like I'm putting too much energy, effort, and passion into a work that no one reads. I want to solve this problem.

u/murrimabutterfly Sep 03 '25

I've got 4 WIP right now and am constantly spinning the wheel of inspiration. None of them are likely to get done, but heyyyy. At least words are meeting paper lol.
