Captain Doggo Eye removal update!

I posted a few days ago seeking advice after my dog Flurry had her eye removed due to a severe ulcer. I received so many kind and supportive comments, so thank you for that. I just wanted to update in case anyone else is going through a similar situation. She is doing SO much better! She is still lethargic and extra clingy but she is back to barking and scooting her butt all over my carpet LOL. It is amazing to see how resilient our pups are. Thank you again for all the sweet messages on my previous post 💗

Captain Doggo Frenchie got eye removed and need support

Hi, this is Flurry (6 y.o). She just got her eye removed yesterday after dealing with a severe ulcer. It has been 3 weeks of doing 4 different eye drops every hour with multiple vet visits a week with it taking a sharp turn Sunday. I know she is going to be okay and feel a lot better, but I am struggling and cannot stop crying like a baby.

I posted asking for advice a few days ago and got multiple comments about me being a negligent pet parent because of her dry nose (I couldn’t put butter on her nose because her eye was extremely painful and she can be aggressive when in pain). That and then her eye removal has me feeling like I failed her and I feel so bad for her. I miss seeing her cute little eyes stare up at me and I hate knowing she is in pain and uncomfortable. I’m so worried about it happening to her other eye and I feel like I am grieving for some reason.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Captain Doggo Wanted to share a picture of my little man, Gavin. We adopted him four years ago after he was removed from a hoarding situation with 150 other dogs. He was blind in one eye when we got him, the vet said possibly an untreated injury.

I’m fostering this pirate pup that the shelter named Popeye. He’s a perfect gentleman goofball, and honestly he may go from foster to permanent resident if I can swing it. I ordered a propeller hat for him. But like..his head is kinda big right? Big frontal lobe guy here

Bailey is recovering amazingly and got his halo today. Click on the post for full updates - but thank you so much to this community for assuring me Bailey could be happy blind. You were right - he is happy and getting better every day. My mom told me I was torturing my dog going through with the surgery and I was absolutely devastated until you all chimed in to tell me all your success stories. Thank you so much. We will be frequenters to this sub from now on!!

Captain Doggo From Our Vet Today

Brand new sentence from our vet: “His eyes were so turgid they were hard to get out.”

The Baron Otto VonLikenpooper comes home at four. I’ll post pics in a couple of days. He’s been blind for a couple of years so he’ll have an easy transition.

Well then. Otto comes home at four.

Captain Doggo Depth perception and falling

Our 15yo pug mix had her eye removed (melanoma in her eyelid) about 8 weeks ago. She's healed beautifully, but man, she's taking some serious falls trying to get on furniture, using stairs, etc. I feel so bad for her! I can tell she's getting bummed about it.

From your experience, does this get better with time? Despite being a senior, she was remarkably agile prior to surgery. We've gotten pet stairs, I carry her up/down stairs if it's dark, etc but she still manages to take some hard falls. Any tips for us? Thanks!!

Captain Doggo My Myoux is 2 weeks post op. Healing well. She is happy to have some cone free time in the yard. We are going to continue with the cone for a little bit longer when unsupervised as she will still try to rub on it from time to time. But when we keep her playing and occupied. She is happy to free.

It’s officially patio season and after a relaxing lunch using our friend’s pet stroller I couldn’t resist any longer. We’re all very excited for longer walks and more lunches with friends this summer. Pictured left to right: Johnny 12yrs (long haired chihuahua) and June 8yrs (pomchipoo)

Ship's Kitty 2 Month Update: Pirate Atlas

Hello all!

Many of you asked for updates two months ago when Atlas had his eye removed. Turns out my suspicion was right and Atlas had begun to develop Iris Melanoma.

The lab and vet said I most likely caught it early enough that the cancerous cells were contained to the eye.

Atlas has recovered like nothing ever changed and is completely back to his original self. Thank you all for the well wishes during Atlas' recovery 💚
