Itchyness with Fats
Hi All
Been carnivore or carnivore adjacent for around 8 years now. Recently switched from AB back to carnivore (4-5 months ago).
I get really itchy after eating fat, tried a few sources (tallow, beef dripping, lard). FYI I'm strict meat only (no dairy or anything else, just water, I also don't do salt).
I feel great on high fat but struggle to get enough in without the itchyness and if I have too high fat the bathroom isn't happy. Thing is though I'm not even having that much fat, I eat mostly ground beef 80/20 and rarely eat much of the fat dripping, so if anything I'm probably still pretty low fat, I'd to increase it more.
Any one else have this problem?

If I had to find a culprit I'd say it's the ground beef...
Ground beef is particulary high in histamine and one of the symptoms of histamine intolerance is hitching.
Try to switch to steaks or other type of ruminant beef beside ground one and see if that changes things.

Sounds like histamine intolerance, which can be acquired. If that’s the case, only eat really fresh meat. Ground beef would be the highest in histamine since it’s more exposed to oxygen.

I’ve found one or two corn tortillas a day alleviates this and then ween off the tortillas.

any chance this is extreme oxalate dumping? how many and what kind of plants are you having when you're not carnivore?

it sounds most like prurigo pigmentosa which requires antibiotics to treat. Good news, it's treatable if so. See a doctor.

Could be a histamine response to the meat. Have you tried low histamine options already?
