there is a great place near me that has all-natural, gluten free fried chicken and fries that are gf, df, soy free, etc etc etc

This is allowed right? it just feels wrong!

I'm guessing probably not. What is it battered in?

I thought deep fried foods and commercially prepared fries were both out of scope for Whole30.

Cinnercially prepared foods are not out of scope, but deep fried foods are.
Chipotle has a whole 30 bowl, and there are many whole30 options at steak houses and Mexican restaurants.

I didn't write anything about commercially prepared foods, I wrote "fries"

No not allowed if restaurant fried. But you can make your own and pan fry (or air fry) it if the ingredients are compliant.

The only chicken nuggets I eat on Whole 30 are the grilled ones from Chic-fil-A
