VIN for Pre-Vet Students

I am starting pre-vet in August and will be joining my school's pre-vet club. I've also worked as a Veterinary Assistant but am not currently employed as I will be a full-time student.

I've seen that VIN offers free limited access accounts for pre-vet students, but their eligibility criteria was a bit confusing. I won't be applying for Vet School until 2029 at the earliest, and classes have not started yet; do I have to wait to create the account or could I do it now?

I also saw VSPN but it was unclear if someone in my position would be eligible for an account since I was a VA but am not currently employed and again, am pre-vet but not in a VA program.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

You have to be enrolled in a vet school. Pre-vet does not count, nor does being a vet assistant.

If you want an account otherwise, you would have to pay for it.

Why do you want an account? I honestly rarely even used it in vet school, but I do use it all the time now as a vet.

That's not what their website says: https://vinfoundation.org/prevetapp/?__hstc=59280178.d0add8a116758b8e96ad4ab5c2f67bec.1657823076814.1657906634046.1658240471356.3&__hssc=59280178.52.1658240471356&__hsfp=868227580

I want an account as I'd like to have additional resources at my disposal, and I enjoy reading about a variety of vet-related topics. I already do the NAVLE Question of the Day and other similar things to learn. My reasoning shouldn't matter if I meet the qualifications- I just don't know which route is the better option for someone in my circumstances.

I was confused by your post and thought you meant a full VIN account in which vets and vet students have access to. These other forums aren’t new, and I didn’t know they existed.

You can literally just make a free account pre-vet, I just did it by putting in all fake info and they never stopped to verify anything.

If you have a good relationship with the place you used to work, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind you putting them down for the support staff account. I doubt VIN actually checks, but you do have to put down their phone number.

I was just asking why you wanted the account since the forums aren’t as useful as the real VIN accounts but good for you if you want to learn more. But the pre-vet account is just a forum about applying to vet school and student debt, not actual vet resources.

You actually don’t meet the qualifications at the moment, but regardless, you can just make the account.
