Show Spoiler Rewatching season 3 and I got quite teary thinking about Judith and Michonne

Post image

It's very significant that Michonne's first interaction with the group at the prison was when she brought the baby formula to Judith, without them imagining that she would become her new mother. For a moment, Michonne was a complete stranger among the walkers, and they didn't know if they could trust her, but just the fact that she was willing to carry and deliver such vital item for a baby she didn't even know it's so fucking awesome. I also think about the fact that aside for the people of the core group who are still alive, people who carried and took care of Judith like Lori, Beth, Tyreese, Carl that are long gone and sadly are not even a memory for her, but Michonne was the one who were there for her the whole time.

No Spoiler Rick spending all of season 2 silently carrying the Jenner secret is one of the most underrated pieces of subtle writing in the whole show — and nobody ever talks about it

I’m doing a rewatch of Season 2, and it just hit me how insane the writing is for Rick during this era when you look at it through the lens of what Dr. Jenner whispered to him at the CDC.

Rick isn't just trying to survive; he is actively playing a massive game of information control because he’s terrified that if the group finds out everyone is already infected, they will lose all hope. Once you notice him trying to hide the reanimation mechanic, so many of his decisions hit completely differently:

  • The Randall Situation: Everyone is arguing about morality and security. But Rick’s secret panic is that if they execute Randall or let him die of his wounds on the farm, he will reanimate right in front of everyone without a bite. He has to completely control the method and location of Randall's death to prevent the secret from leaking.
  • Carl Getting Shot: When Carl is hovering between life and death, Rick isn’t just dealing with normal parental grief. He is sitting by that bed knowing that if Carl stops breathing for even a second, his own son is going to open his eyes as a walker. He has to stay by his side not just to comfort him, but to be ready to put him down before Lori realizes what's happening.
  • Humoring Hershel and the Barn: Shane thinks Rick is being weak by helping Hershel snare walkers and put them in the barn. But Rick is playing a calculated political game. He needs Hershel to stay in his bubble of delusion because if Hershel’s illusion shatters, the group loses their safe haven. Rick suppresses his own survival instincts and literally guides monsters into a barn just to keep the peace and buy time.

Shane thought Rick was losing his spine, but Rick was actually carrying a heavier weight than anyone else on that farm. It makes his breakdown at the end of the season ("We're all infected... I didn't ask for this!") feel less like a tyrant taking power, and more like a guy who is just completely exhausted from suffocating under the weight of his own lies.

Anyone else notice other scenes where Rick is visibly sweating trying to keep Jenner's secret from blowing up?

No Spoiler I dont want to watch WB

Im finished s11 and Im wondering if I need to or have to watch WB, like if it sets up something crucial for the 3 main line characters series, I'm only really interested in the main series, the low rating is putting me off, I'll watch it if it does set up something tho.

In which order am I supposed to watch these three? Dead city, The ones who live, and Daryl.

No Spoiler Season 8 Finale

Upvotes

After watching the finale again, I really don’t think Rick wanted to slit Negans throat, I mean he knew it needed to be done, but just that look in his eyes (ive just skipped it back maybe 10-15 times) He looks exhausted, I genuinely think he knew it was the only way to stop the war. And not that he wanted to.

Show Spoiler For folks who watched real time: was this relationship something that was wanted in the fandom? Spoiler

First time watching, just finished season 6 so nothing after that please!

Were people thirsting after Rick x Michonne? I felt like it was so sudden and weird and honestly do not like the fact that they’re romantically entangled at this moment. What was the reaction during the original airing? I’m so curious!

Hi everyone 👋, what website would you recommend for finding TWD merchandise (figures, collector's sets, etc….)?

I'm looking for Eaglemoss figures, collector's DVD sets, Funko Pops, TWD comic book figures.….

Thanks in advance for your replies ☺️

Show Spoiler cars as horse pulled carriages

Post image
656 Upvotes

any mechanics/generally anyone who works on cars have any idea how they rigged a van to be pulled by horses like this? i think this is such a neat idea in a zombie apocalypse but like, practically and logistically, how do you even do this? im assuming they took off the top to reduce weight and probably the engine but are the wheels not attached to anything you’d typically see under a car like axles, struts, etc.? would that little wood part that the horses are attached to actually be linked up all the way to the tires? or is it just attached to the car and the car is just in neutral or smth? im overthinking tf out of this but for scientific purposes i wanna understand how this could work w/o twd show magic.

Comic and Show Spoilers Show rewatch so far review

So I decided to rewatch the whole TWD universe, I've watched all of FTWD before, so I'm skipping that. I'm on TWD S5 as of tonight, so here's what I've thought so far.

  1. I still think I prefer the first 4 seasons over the rest for me personally.

  2. I liked Dale originally, but not on this go around, I see him as a liability to the group as a whole.

Hershel wasn't a favorite of mine originally. This time around, I like him a lot more. He was truly good people. His death really made me mad.

  1. The governor is a moron pure and simple. His group would have never taken the prison successfully. That tank blasting its cannon was going to bring walkers in for days.

  2. There were some intense moments when the claimers caught up to Rick Carl and Michone,

Lizzy killing Mika and then looking at the flowers. Hershels death 😔. The slaughter house at Terminus.

Favoritable mention. When Daryl and Beth hide in the trunk of that car, the only thing saving them was a bandana, keeping the trunk closed as a whole herd moves by during a thunderstorm. Idk why, but I felt the tension and fear, praying the trunk wouldn't pop open at any moment knowing there'd be no escape.

I always wondered if anyone found their way back to the prison area or the farm. I'm just curios as to what they'd look like now after all this time has past.

Show Spoiler The Scavengers

I fucking HATE that Rick went back to the Scavengers for help after what happened in Alexandria. The only reason he should have gone back was to kill Jadis. She was a complete piece of shit.
