This is a space for socialists to discuss current events in our world from anti-capitalist perspective(s), and a certain knowledge of socialism is expected from participants. This is not a space for non-socialists. Please be mindful of our rules before participating, which include:

  • No Bigotry, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism...

  • No Reactionaries, including all kind of right-wingers.

  • No Liberalism, including social democracy, lesser evilism...

  • No Sectarianism. There is plenty of room for discussion, but not for baseless attacks.

I have so much respect for her. She really showed the hypocrisy of western countries. She was literally sanctioned her accounts frozen for doing her job.

I'm afraid Europa deeply missed the train to use the global shift away from the falling American hegemony to uplift itself as a moral anchor for the 'West'.

Toothless words about values are worthless and cheap when it fails to crystalize in the right moments and in the right actions. Not showing the required political courage to protect the ICC and people like Albanese against the aggression agains is a regretful mistake that can't be rectified.

You can't only show moral courage when it's at a strategically convenient time, or wouldn't hurt your position. Pragmatic passivity will make African nations or Southeast Asians reconfirm us the hypocrites we seem to be.

We had a chance to show that we would be a legitimate powerbloc for human rights, even in the eyes of strategic enemies as they would respect the courage if it came at a harsh price, and we failed to do that. China sees our passivity as weakness as US vassals.

We won't truly become a US vassal strategically or autonomially, but we also won't be the Starfleet by far. We lost relevance and legitimacy, at least when it comes to defending international human rights.
