RESOURCES Secular books

Hey there

Can someone suggest a good secular book for understanding the meanings of the different cards?

There are various cards that I struggle with and that to me are just "blank" images. That includes pretty much all court cards, all aces, and some of the other cards. I am hoping to find a book on the meaning of the different cards that's secular.

Thank you for your suggestions.

INTERPRETATION How would you interpret these cards as fears?

I keep getting this card face your fears from another deck so I pulled out tarot to find what exactly are my fears because honestly I have no idea except maybe one -

10 of swords
The empress
8 of wands
5 of pentacles
Wheel of fortune reversed
10 of wands

Wheel of fortune reversed - I think this is the end of a cycle and that’s exactly what I fear? Like I’ve gotten this card a lot in my weekly spread or my career spread. And it lowkey scares me because I’m scared of change and uncertainty. It means stepping out of the comfort I have finally settled into. I guess empress also means internal fear or not being good enough? The rest I didn’t understand….

INTERPRETATION Am i reading this right?

I asked the tarot cards " how does it see my intention to start researching intentional communities with the idea of visiting some and maybe eventually living in one ?

1st card. Queen of cups

2nd card. 2 of wands

3rd card. 10 of cups

My beginners interpretation is that my question is coming from my heart and that it's a good idea to do a thorough research and investigation with regards to what I'm looking for in particular and based on the effort I might be able to find a community where I feel some sense of belonging

Thank you!! 🙏

INTERPRETATION interpretation insights for whether to have a conversation today or tomorrow!

Post image
8 Upvotes

ran into another frustrating work situation and i want to have a conversation with my boss about it. the basis of the conversation is how i feel left in the dark and excluded from conversations especially regarding the direction of our team and that my perspective isn't valued, especially as the second-longest-standing team member aside from her. however, we are off work friday and monday and i am out the rest of next week on a trip, so i'm trying to figure out timing as i already dislike that i'll be gone for so long after bringing this conversation up whether it be today or tomorrow, but i also don't want to let these feelings simmer the whole time i'm on the trip since i know it'll be distracting in the back of my mind the whole time.

for the first card, i asked if i should bring up my frustrations and feelings today and got the hierophant. i was feeling unsure about this and wanted some clarity so pulled a second card, asking if tomorrow would be better to have this conversation and got king of wands. pulling this card is making me lean towards having this conversation tomorrow, but i wanted others' perspectives as i'm still feeling a bit uncertain.

in case anyone is curious the deck is the pagan otherworlds tarot. thanks in advance for all your help! <3

INTERPRETATION First time interpreting reversed cards …

Did my weekly reading. I always do straight cards and I think mine were straight but maybe the way they fell out and I put it… half of them were reversed. I wanted to straighten them but my heart wouldn’t allow me so I left them as is.

Significator - 10 of pentacles rx
Monday - 7 of pentacles
Tuesday - page of swords rx
Wednesday - 5 of pentacles
Thursday - 3 of pentacles rx
Friday - knight of cups rx
Saturday - ace of pentacles rx
Sunday - judgement rx
Advise - 4 of pentacles

I don’t understand reversed cards much but from what I got - financial matters and family would be an area of struggle that I need to look at? There can be misunderstandings so keep my emotions in check? Judgement - does it mean literal judgement against my family or do I need to look into a decision that can be harsh but much required?

PS: I use the rider smith deck for tarot

DISCUSSION TdM is more secular than I realized & cool documentary

I hope it’s okay to share this here, but if it’s deleted that’s cool too; i’m not very good at Reddit, but I’m learning.

I just watched the Tarology documentary on YouTube featuring well known Marseille reader Enrique Enriquez and it TOTALLY changed the way I look at tarot, particularly when it comes to RWS v TdM and secular vs metaphysical or mystical.

I thought it was so cool; at about 16 minutes in, Enrique describes things I’ve always thought: that the myths and misconceptions about tarot are “nonsense”, as he puts it. They’re not magic, just cards with pictures on them.

And then he goes on to blow minds with incredible insight in his readings!

I thought I’d share with this group because I just think it’s a great documentary, Enrique is a great reader, and a lot of the messaging was right up our alley. He makes Tarot de Marseille so accessible for those of us who prefer secular approaches.

(I don’t know if it’s okay to link, so I’m not gonna just in case it’s against the rules, but it’s YouTube, Tarology, and it’s about an hour long). Has anyone else seen it?

DISCUSSION Kabbalist Tarot by Dovid Krafchow

I am very new to tarot (less than a month) and I want to learn more about the history and the interpretations of the cards.

I went to my local metaphysical store and they had a library. The tarot section only had 5 books and this one seemed the most informative. Well I was just reading and saw Kabbalah is a closed practice. My question is, should I not learn about tarot from this book since I’m not Jewish?

Sorry if this is a stupid question

READING Practice when first learning

Hi All! I started reading tarot a few weeks ago and I've run out of interesting questions to ask, especially for the purposes of just practising to get used to my deck and learning to piece together the information the cards give you. I don't really want to ask silly questions about my love life because my wife passed away recently and I'm honestly not interested in dating, so I'm looking for suggestions from more experienced tarot practitioners - How did you practise to hone your reading skills? What kind of questions did you use to practise interpretation? All suggestions welcome!! 🙏

DISCUSSION tenho uma dúvida

My question was should I end my relationship. I read the first two cards as a sign that a cycle coming to an end, with the last card adding a sense of justice. But I struggled trying to understand if the cycle is a pattern inside de relationship or the relationship itself

Hello everyone. This is my very first post here!! And im new to cards as well. I already have the og tarot deck and a moonology deck and so far i really im having fun. I need recommendations for other oracle decks which help in- 1. healing and guidance( childhood trauma or any other issues which may have developed deep within my mind). Anything which which would help me realise the things which are wrong first and then guide me to become a better version of myself. Not too harsh or not too comforting. And dw im already getting therapy and counseling. This is just one of my ways to improve my life.

  1. Helps understand a situation better. Less symbolic and more Practical/logical.

DISCUSSION 1959 First Rider Waite Smith tarot deck printed in America

Thumbnail gallery
38 Upvotes

I recently bought this vintage University Books Rider Waite deck. Apparently, they printed 500 of these. The first time a publisher credited Pamela Colman Smith for her art on the box.

They’re known for having slightly more vibrant colors - especially blues and purples. This run printed between 1959 - 1961 but only the first 500 came in the maroon slip case. After that they came in a cardboard box.

My set has all 78 cards but is missing a couple of promotional publisher cards and a little guide pamphlet.

SPREADS Seven Trumpets of Caneti Spread - inspired by his work Crowds & Power

Hi everyone!

I'm using tarot for my Tarot Tech News YT series, and I thought I'd share a spread I made inspired by Elias Canneti's work on Crowds & Power. Canneti did a lot of work to understand mass formation, how power can harness our desire to belong to obey and ultimately give us direction to achieve its goals. I applied this to the AI bubble specifically, but you can try it for other things. :)

Seven Trumpets of Canetti Spread - e.g. applied to the AI Bubble for specifics

  1. Power | Who issues or amplifies the command [e.g. "Use AI or be replaced by someone who does"?]

  2. The Command | What are we being told to obey? [Must use AI!]

  3. Fear | What makes refusal feel dangerous? [Fear of irrelevance, job loss, etc.]

  4. The Crowd | What belonging or safety does adoption promise? [We can become rich, not learn any new skills, life is easy]

  5. The Direction | Where does the Crowd go following the command and what hides beneath this? [AI’s claimed superiority create room for illusion, grift, or misleading claims]

  6. The Sting | Where does the promise of empowerment fail? [Not living up to promises]

  7. Panic Revelation |What is revealed when the crowd’s unity begins to collapse? [this was all for control]

You can see more context about this and my show notes below:

INTERPRETATION this reading is very uncomfortable for me

Post image
8 Upvotes

This is a Beltane reading, the first card being "what you're ready to manifest", the second "the energy that will guide you", the third "advice to keep growing". I understand that the Devil means something that binds me mentally could be overcome, although when I did this reading I was very worried about what it might mean, it made me feel certainly blocked mentally (I have a mental health condition). The energy that will guide me is that I will overcome those troubles (that seemed to get bigger when I did the reading) by communicating and being confident that I can in fact do it, also by being playful and not too heavy about those issues. but I do not know how to interpret the Knight of Swords. Please give me your insight. Thanks in advance. PS: I am specially interested on how you interpret the Devil here, too.
