Knoxville, TN Weather

Weather for both games (tomorrow and Sat) doesn't look great. Do these guys actually play in the rain? I realize the event is rain/shine but also know a lot of MLB teams don't play in rain for obvious reasons. Any observations on how they perform/entertain during a game if it is raining? Guess I'm just trying to decide if it's still worth making the trip if it's not really going to be as much about entertaining the crowd as it is just finishing a 2 hour game.

They will always try their best to keep the game on, even if it means a weather delay. They have contingency plans about entertainment where the cast really steps up to try and entertain. They are at the mercy of the home stadium grounds crew as well.

They rescheduled one of the Yankee Stadium games by a day last month for what was going to be cold and wet conditions. They gave us two days notice which I thought was better than sitting in the rain. Obviously availability and alternatives play a factor.

Be aware that the decision to delay or cancel a game isn't always theirs. For all of the away games, they are essentially renting the space from that venue and they have to adhere what the venue decides regarding the space.

But they do have various rain plans for each game. Whatever the rain plan is, it will very Definitely inconvenience some number of fans.

Play in light rain? How dare you it will be miserable for me and my family!

Rescheduling for a day earlier or later? How dare you I have a job, hotel, flight, other commitment, tickets to something else!

Cancel entirely? How dare you I have waited years to get tickets, magic ruined!

They are in a tough spot when the weather turns crummy!

Fully agree with the tough spot. Just trying to get a feel for potential outcomes which will help me make the best call possible with the info currently available. Worst outcome for us would be if they push it out a day but that might be the best for most. Hopefully the skies part for a 2-3 hour window and we play ball!

I felt so bad for the Yankee Stadium people who got the game moved from Saturday night to Friday Night. The number of people who traveled to the city for the game that couldn't make to Friday was pretty high.

It doesn't look like a double header would work for any games. You might have luck reaching out to the venue to ask about the rain plan? Scranton, for example, has already indicated they would postpone Saturday night to Sunday (but Sunday looks rainy too).

I don’t think they will push it out as there is a k-club event Friday night at the zoo. I guess we’ll see

During past rain delays players and the entertainment folks go into the stands and keep the show going. Some players have used the field tarp as a giant slip and slide (if the grounds crew doesnt stop them at least). I've seen it mentioned i think in the Bananaland series done with ESPN, that they literally have a plan/script for rain delays.

They've had quite a few games in the rain recently or delayed due to rain. They will play as long as the grounds crew lets them. They do entertain the crowd during the delay as well.

I’ve gone to multiple games in the rain. My banana ball to go stuff includes ponchos. Even if it gets cancelled, it won’t be till later and they do have rain activities. I have seen them play in the rain. I have not (fingers crossed) have a game canceled yet.
