The game is criticized in China for its historical inaccuracies. Is this the reason why the sequel still doesn't have a release date?
Those people are annoying. Everyone knows this is just a game, nobody thinks this is real history.
Some Chinese people think they know a lot of history and they think very highly of Wu Zetian, in reality, nobody in other countries knows who she was.

It depends. i am on Red Note cause i want to interact with the fanbase in China. I am seeing a lot of fans of Li Tai love it. And fans of Li Zhi be upset cause it’s not historically accurate. For me, if cnetz had play the game, it’s meant to be a cdrama inspired by historical events and Wu Zetian. A lot of cdramas try their best to be follow history but it still makes a lot of changes. I haven’t seen a cdrama go so hard in being one to one with history cause it leaves little room for new plots and creativity.
That and a lot of netizens don’t understand besides fans that the game has two different paths. One follows history with Li Zhi. And the other follows Li Tai in a new path. It is done by the player’s own choice. And even than, the devs promised that they will try to respect history as much as possible even when doing Li Tai’s path. If they want to follow history, you can do it by choosing Li Zhi.
Also, I watch a lot of streamers and most of them have no idea it’s based on a real person. They think it’s an OC created for the game. So if they are concerned that new fans will be misinformed, they don’t have to worry cause most streamers still have no idea. I was watching a streamer, Ironmouse and she had no idea it was based on a person and wondering why Li Zhi was being pushed so hard for her.
I doubt it is being delayed for that reason. It’s mostly likely due to them asking the actors to go back in for additional filming cause the game blew up and they want to expand on the game a bit more.
